I don't see why ppl are :(( :(( about payoffs to MPs to vote one way or another. It's routine to do this in any democracy, except that they call it development $$ to their home constituencies, and the baksheesh has to come from the govt. contracts. Watch "West Wing". I bet if u read Mahab...

Some major psy-ops going on. Who said IAF was ever interested in C-17? Il-76 MF is the way to go. CH-47? May be a hand full but most likely HAL's 15 tonne chopper.Ah-64D..nice try onlee. Why is raytheon involved in GAGAN? I was under the impression it would be based on ISRO's satellites.

If SU-35 is good then during the MLU around 2015-18 upgrade the MKI with Irbis or NIIP AESA radar and install the new engines. Why the hell would we want MKI and 35? IAf specifically wants two seaters while 35 is single seater. MRCA deal should go to the engine thats selected if EJ-200 then typhoon ...

Agreed but DRDO must ensure that the LLQRM is based on Astra. A short range (15-20 km) sam based on Astra and a Akash-2 (50 km) range is necessary in the future. The Barak-2 is a LRSAM with 120-150 Km range and will gel nicely with these two.

Somehow i am not 100% convinced about sengupta's article. OF course some one needs to tell that idiot that 7 P-17a's are planned. Anyway if true 64 MR SAM's on Delhi's would be good news. I guess P-17's will have Shtil VL or Single arm in that case.

They already have upgraded S-200's. I won't be surprised if they acquire S-300's. Its logical that they perceive a threat from US or Israel. Irrespective of ahmed-is-a-jokes statements Israel will try its best to take out Irans nukes. Its only a matter of time.

Thats the problem. IA and IAF cannot accept substandard equipment that does not give them a decisive edge over chinks and porkis. Anyway I don't think India trusts SA enough to go into joint venture with them. They will have to depend on brazil. India has better options with israel.

UAE M2k-5 are most likely customized for them and IAF will consider them compromised until modified (RADAR etc). I am not sure how much it will cost after all the changes. PAkis also could have had used these machines.

As the specs show its a little heavier than Dhruv (max TO weight 7.4 tonne) but the speed range and ceiling specs fall short of the dhruv by a long margin.
