Re: Artillery Discussion Thread

The truth may be somewhere in between. The 300 regiments with 18 guns apiece, it would be 5400 plus reserve ( 25 to 33%), assuming all light regiments have converted or will be converted. The larger number of guns, 13000 can be reported only when the 81 mm Infantry Mortars are considered as artiller...

To assemble your realtime lego's , you have to create a full fledged workshops in the destinations for heavies like T-90 and Arjuns. A place like Nyoma, a C-130 or C-17 can land with less weight and another comes with the engine and a crane and accessories. Probably 3 planes can put 2 Arjuns in act...

Just to add to the above. All this talk about how well suited the Arjun is for desert warfare is not a positive spin for the Indian tank. Now as far as the continuous production of Arjun Mk1, till such time Mk2 is finalised, I think IA made a well informed choice of waiting an additional year for Mk2, based on following rationale. - 800 Arjuns(Mk1 and Mk2) are not in the scheme of things. - All Mk1 will eventually be upgraded to Mk2 s...

Arjun Mk2 's specifications was handed over to DRDO in mid 2007, when CVRDE started working on it. CVRDE should have foreseen those had they been doing real...
