Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous - Aug 2016

There has been a lot of talk about air to air combat and missiles being fired/missing etc. Here is an old video of Israeli F-15s against Syrian MiG 21s. Note how the first missile misses even though it gets close and he had a lock.

It is amazing how coordinated these attacks are. Business Insider (Will not link to the cr@p article) has taken the FP article and written one of their own. Interestingly, their article promptly uses the F-16 claim to also promote that the Balakot strikes were a failure and everything is a big embar...

Re: MiG-21 Bison shoots down F-16 in Kashmir

Like most of us here, I have been following the narrative in India and Bak for the last couple of months. A pattern below I have noticed with each incident that sometimes even reflects on BRF. It would be immensely frustrating to our armed forces that speak the truth, do what is right, admit and cor...

That will be the plan. I bet PAF is desparately begging the Turks, Jordanians - anyone from their usual ummah friends - to lend them a few F-16s "off the record" so they can repaint them and pretend all iz well. Which is why the MOD should release the F-16 shootdown info, asap. Turkey is ...

What does this even mean ? Doesnt make sense Usually, just detecting an aircraft on radar doesn’t mean having a ‘firing solution’. In order to have a firing solution, you need accurate azimuth, elevation and range/velocity data. Unlike ground radars, aircraft radars aren’t stationary. Also our airc...

Re: MiG-21 Bison shoots down F-16 in Kashmir

See at the high speed the R-73 travels in the end zone it needs transverse/lateral pulses to do the steering as there is not enough space (v^2/R) to do the gradual turn needed for TVC. Transverse control engine is essentially a motor with lateral/divert nozzles to provide the thrust. Makes sense. T...

BTW in a case of fratricide, a paki mujahid pilot fired a missile and shot down his wingman. Link? Hopefully it was a F16 of Fizzleya. This is an old incident in 1987 against the Soviets. The F-16's were up against MiG 23s. The theory was that the F-16 leader was shot down by his wingman.
