If this is truly a ABM test then the evidence is pointing towards a boost phase interception and not an interception during re-entry. This will be very significant if true.

^^ I think this whole incident is due to differences in the SOP of the armed forces and civilian police. The IAF guys may have been trained to do what they did( reach for help or try and reach frndly lines) and the Cop may have insisted that they have to stay with the chopper( which may be his SOP)....

When did the govt acknowledge 1951, all it stated was that as per its records it is 1950. It never said that "We acknowledge 1951 as his DOB unconditionally but would require him to go by 1950 as in his UPSC record" , had it done tht the chief wouldnot have gone to court in the first place...
