Re: Kaveri & aero-engine discussion
Thanks to our history of socialism, the political / babu class dont appreciate the role competition plays in improving human performance. US extensively uses competition to develop new technologies, faster and potentially at a much lower cost. Take for example the X-prize foundation, the DARPA auton...

Re: Afghanistan News & Discussion
Russia to allow US arms shipments to Afghanistan Russia said Friday it will allow the United States to ship weapons across its territory to Afghanistan, a long-sought move that bolsters U.S. military operations but potentially gives the Kremlin leverage over critical American supplies. The announce...

Re: India-Russia: News & Analysis
Samizdat in the 21st Century Early last year, Boris Nemtsov and Vladimir Milov published a report titled "Putin. Itogi," or "Putin. The Results." It was a well-documented, comprehensive, and absolutely damning critique of the corruption, authoritarianism, and general dysfunction...

Re: Indian Missile Technology Discussion
I seem to have touched a raw nerve here. Please note that I said we should build a strong deterrence . I also know strong respects strong, and understand that nobody has any time for weaklings, especially China. I strongly believe we need to significantly scale up our defence capabilities esp. w.r.t...

Is a 300 kt warhead enough to destroy Beijing,Shanghai or HongKong ? :| India is a peaceful country onlee.. We dont speak/think of destroying anybody.. Our missiles can deliver flowers too.. Re: Afghanistan News & Discussion
I think this is great news, if US & Russia build better relations, it will reduce TSP's leverage, hopefully stop from Russia from getting too close to China. Do any of the gurus have any insight on this?

I hate to use such language against a person who has held such high constitutional posts, but VR Krishna Iyer is a left wing crackpot, not very different from Arundhati Roy.

Mods, I would like to suggest that we start a new thread focusing on Indian Soft Power abroad. Since this is a key source of Indian power, I think it deserves its own thread, & potentially give India an edge in the long run. (I did search for soft power & didnt find anything) I'm no expert s...

Re: India-US News and Discussion
I think we should stop agonising over every word uttered by US, it is like we dont have any confidence in our abilities. We have to start acting like a Big Power by standing firm & asking US to buzz off, when they spew such nonsense with us. Also, we should start putting the pressure on them by ...

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
It is high time we moved on from our focus on 3rd world objectives to more 1st world objectives (for want of a better word!). A good way to start would be to ask the questions How can we get ahead of China? How can we contribute to Space Science e.g. Hubble Space telescope or something even bigger?...

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
We could go in for joint development with Russia, for example, to defray the costs. We've had success with them on things like BrahMos in the past. I don't necessarily agree that a nuclear-fueled rocket is less safe, since it could be run on a particle-bed reactor with an extremely high fuel burn-u...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion
Apologies if this is going off-topic, I just thought I should set put the record straight. It is obvious there is a lot of distrust and dislike (even hatred ;)) for the US from the Indian side, but I can tell you from my viewpoint that it is totally one-sided. India is well-regarded in the US. Sure ...
