I don't feel Pakistan is that critical to Turkey as some of the energy rich Turkic CAR states. I think Pak and Turkey will have strong relations but I don't think it will be a major threat to India. Rather I think it would be a decent idea to increase investment and economic exchanges with the Turks...

I think this will keep rising for a while, investors will continue to seek strong returns outside the US and India will prove attractive. Gold however, I think is in a bubble. There is no upside to being in gold unless you're predicting the GoTUS to default on its debt. But the upside to shorting go...

Re: Issues faced by Commonwealth Games-New Delhi 2010

I don't think the CWG is really that big of a loss of face for India in the eyes of the world. The games aren't really that big of an event, and I don't think it will hurt India's standing. Those who wanted to find fault will have fun, but with no serious damage done to image. Now the government's l...

If more foreign inflows are predicted with relaxation of the caps, that means then this should only be the start of a bull market, after a brief correction admittedly.

It's close to 20,000 today is the Sensex. Such a rapid and sudden rise is really not good. Especially given the lack of P-note transperancy for Record FII's You're probably right, a secular trend upwards only becomes apparent after multiple smaller advances in the market. Libertarianism as a philosophy has its merits, but some of it is extreme, as economies do need some degree of regulation to protect citizens from externalities and address asymmetric information in markets. Remember how the Arabs entered Spain. India was not the only one to collaborate with Islamic invaders! Seeking foreign help in order to secure your power is not unusual at all, and we cannot blame it on a cultural decline. It happens even today.

We could establish a unified theatre command in the NE region, one that can operate autonomously even if the Chinese overrun the Siliguri area. It may require a big troop and a/c presence, backed up by a lot of stored fuel, and AAMs/BMs based in various sites.

Interesting question. I think a big part of this also had to do with the invention and spread of the movable type press, and the resulting upsurge in literacy, and the widespread dissemination of scientific material that resulted, starting in Germany.

On one thread where an interview with IA soldier was posted, I read that the Insas wasn't "lethal" enough and they desired I think a rifle with a bigger caliber. Question though - don't most ARs use pretty standard cartridges?

Thanks in advance.
