According to my source 1st Indian made PAK-FA by 2014. 1st PAK-FA for IAF with new engines and nozzels in 2018. Also by 2018 IAF is expected to have around 40 PAK-FA's. He also called the discussion on JSF and PAK-FA being delayed as " http://www.sherv.net/cm/emo/funny/1/shit-emoticon.gif "

I remember even our security personnel's protecting the PM carrying a similar briefcase. Saw it during the 26 Jan parade. Even I was puzzled to see such a thin briefcase. I think its used as a shield to protect the VIP's, it could be made of up bullet-proof material. But its just my guess.

Re: Transport Aircraft for IAF
I would be rather optimistic when it comes to MTA considering the fact that in past 3-4 years the IAF is putting a lot of emphasis on buying new transport aircrafts and upgrading its existing fleet of transport aircraft. Also surprisingly, the purchase contract of C-130J's, C-17 and upgradation cont...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par
Flankers have been ordered reordered and they are being supplied on schedule. Inspite of these superpotent flankers IAF decided to go for MediumMRCA. Maybe they have other reasons, just a rafale carrying double its own weight, burning much less fuel or even more long lasting life of certain parts. ...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par
The "not as good" makes all the difference in air combat :) Then again, our enemy is not America. Not really, lot of other factors come into play like self defense capability, BVR missiles, AWACS support. Fractional differences have hardly affected air combat. IMVHO BVR is less likely sce...

@ Rakesh Saab #Nobody knows that. You said that US will keep things up its selves even in case of its allies than considering this fact they should offer us even lower specs. Still than they are losing in ex's. I really doubt water-downed SH is as good as Typhoon and Rafael. #Tech falling in wrong h...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par
I agree with you that the SH is good in BVR ranges but so are Typhoon are Rafael. Yes, ok may be not as good the SH but they are not hopeless. Also you cannot totally claim that WVR dogfights will not happen, incase of India WVR engagements look more likely than BVR.(But lets not go into it). I won'...

He made at point with that but I will argue that #Yes, its not worth paying $65 million more for just 1.2 degrees but than again its not the only factor at which t$he SH has failed. A 7.5G capability is far less than 9G which means it will a lot poorer in almost all maneuvers when compared with the ...

PratikS: I have to disagree with you on the sensors bit. Nobody - absolutely no one - can catch up to the Americans in AESA technology. They hold all the aces. By the time the Euros (Dassault and EADS) catch up to the full-spec capability of Raytheon's APG-79 AESA, the latter will already be FAR ah...

The article basically blames the IAF for not putting premium on stuff the Americans fighters are good at and not considering the monetary aspect (Flyaway cost). Re: Indian Military Aviation
Thinking aloud, the probe looks very close to the fuselage. Isn't that a problem? The M2Ks, Rafales and MKIs have the probes farther away from the fuselage minimising the chances of friction between the hose and the fuselage. Plus, the pilots can see it happening in front of their eyes. Not sure ab...

Its interesting to see IN practicing smack in the middle of a trade route which is most likely to be attacked by China. Its a good statement for IN to make. But still IN on its own won't be able to stop the PLAN in South China Sea just the same way PLAN can't do anything in IOR.
