Re: Design your own fighter
is there any open competition to design the fighter jet .... if not then it would be a good idea for the DRDO to conduct such a competition in India .... maybe involve all the IIT's and the engineering colleges .... India needs to enocourage young talent and groom them .... Remember the Titanic was ...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
HAL should keep developing fighters and keep going ahead with trials of various mainframes like batwing , X wing fighters , or maybe borrow the Lampyrere German stealth designs .... HAL should keep up with experimental aircraft ...if the IAF likes a certain product of HAL then the production line op...

Re: China Military Watch
The IAF cheif mentioned earlier this year that 50% of our IAF fighters are obsolete.... with rapidly depleting fighter strength ... the Gov. of India has been toooo slow to ink the MMRCA deal ... and to add more trouble the Chinese are rapidly making strides ... though we produce talented engineers ...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
clearly the IAF have now raised the stakes ... they now want MRCA to be able to do the heavy lifting as well. Out of the competitors MiG 35 or F/A 18 can do the role .... Rafale and EF typhoon can perform well , surely they cost an arm or leg to purchase them ..also in war IAF woud most likely encou...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
SH , SV are all American so prone to get sanctioned ....gRIPEN NG contains too many American stuff so US may not permit those stuff to go to IAF ... MiG 35 is still a paper plane .. is not ready yet .. wouldnt be able to meet the requirement of IAF to produce them soon ... IAF needs the some jets in...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
GRIPEN NG really looks good performace and price .... only problem is the American companies trying to pressure SAAB out of the competition. Rafale is a good fighter ... also it has no foreign sales till date which makes it attractive because besides the French on one else truly knows its technical ...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
The cost of flying a combat aircraft can be very expensive ... for example current estimates of the USAF of flying the F16 in Iraq and Afghanistan is around 17000 dollars per hour [ for fuel and maintainence]..... as we all know that F16 is a single engined aircraft and if this fighter runs up an as...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
the winner will be the bird with the lowest bid , total tech transfer ..... currently the top three contenders are MiG -35 , Gripen NG , F16 superviper .... $10 billion deal for 126 birds can only fit the above three jets .... F/A 18 superhornet is too expensive and only limited tech transfer . EF T...
