Sandeep the cost of new infrastructure, tooling and research is ultimately borne by the customer. So the smaller the numbers the higher the cost. You have small numbers and low cost. You are stating cost beforehand as if those figures can be met from factories that do not exist producing relatively...

Sandeep ji .I feel that we are going in circles. Your contention is that private sector and gunsmithing(legalised form) will improve the quality of firearms.Fair enough. This is one point on which I will elaborate further since I have my own thoughts. Before I come to it , I will reiterate what we ar...

It's heartening to see PSUs coming up with multiple desi designs i.e. Kalantak/excalibur (5.56X45), MSMC ( 5.56X30), Trichy assault rifle (7.62X39) and future modular assault rifle aka F-INSAS rifle. It would be a big mistake if IA goes for imports this time and kills the indigenous effort. Cheers....

You forget that the weight of the .30-06 round (and 7.62x51 mm. NATO as well) is the reason why US and NATO switched to 5.56x45 mm. round in the first place. They wanted the average infantryman to carry more cartridges and a .30-06 weighs approx. 2x to 3x the weight of a 5.56x45 mm. NATO. Agreed .....

All 7.62 mm ammo isn't alike. The M-14 uses the 7.62X51mm NATO round (also used by the FN-FAL) which is bigger and heavier than the Russian 7.62X39mm round fired by the AK-47 and this new Trichy rifle. My understanding is: 7.62X51 mm - Long range but uncontrollable recoil in auto-fire mode 7.62X39 ...

What would be so bad by splitting the MMRCA in two contentdors.... say 90 raflaels and 90 EFT's or 90 eft's and 135 Mig 35's

addition on one extra type of Aricraft in inventory... we have the money for it ... getting two different types of AESA radar in MMRCA wont be bad, i guess?
