another very interesting thing I saw today was the foldable wings concept on ALH. For the Navy ofcourse. Livefist says this is "borrowed" from the LUH. Anyway this sounds like good news for the navy.

Re: LCA News and Discussions, 22-Oct-2013

1. Leaving Rafale aside. One way of surely increasing the MK1 numbers is to split the training load between Hawk AJT and LCA (may be LCA as the LIFT) and TOFTUs for the MK2. 2. Also the NLCA MK1 would be a great platform to train Ramp Launch with ARs for the Mig29 K trainees. in the light of point 1...

Moving on.

Hi All. Now that SP1 has been handed over to IAF, does this mean that no more 'testing' will be done on SP1. What would be IAF's next course of action on SP1. Would there be routine Sqn training flights. Basically how does IAF deal with having just one plane for the next few months.

I believe that 'firaangs' (US or Russia or even the Swedes) will not provide solutions tailored to India. Case in Point ALH/LCH. Fair enough. But it remains that while team LCA might have achieved a lot technologically, it has not executed its second mandate even remotely - provide the AF an a/c that it can induct in the near term as a replacement for the Mig-21 . During one of the exercises with Khan, their pilots were highly appriciative of Mig-21 with its big jammer. A small plane with a big jammer really put them off...
