Re: Tactics & military craft
Unconventional enemy enemy territory. Firstly I would question why should there be a difference between unconventional enemy and conventional enemy if we are in enemy territory. If possible treat them all as one. But lines can blur and this gives the defender an advantage. The political context wil...

Re: Artillery Discussion Thread
I was wondering why people were saying its the army's fault so I read the article again. Have posted it below and highlighted certain parts. In what will be a major boost to self-reliance for military equipment, the Ministry of Defence is set to give permission for procurement of the first lot of 40...

Re: Artillery Discussion Thread
Answer : they wanted to test it. DG Arty told Commandant Arty School to provide the range. MOD came down heavily on DG Arty saying they were not allowed to do this. So army wanted to provide the range but MOD gave them a slap on the wrist. I have mentioned this quite a few times. But see the bias in...

Agreed but I think we are in an early stage here. At next stage we really need to increase orders big time. Baba Kalyani is on record saying he can give 100 guns a year. On that note a quiz :
What did Bharat Forge request from the army some years ago in context of B52. And what happened.

It Is difficult to stand by Army’s acquisition arm. How come the orders for a demonstrated desi world beater has to start at 30-40, while gold plated FH777s can start in the hundreds straight away? Yes. I read that article. But its defensive in tone with building bunkers etc which may be a good thing to shelter from Paki fire. Read the Timenow report which is typical. Not it’s not as hard as it’s made out. First and foremost we must be clear that J&K is Roy of India and not more or less than any other state. No question of ‘settlement’. No discussion on that. Second we must understand tbe centre of gravity of the problem and change it via propaganda and sophi...
