Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

U.K., U.S. at Odds Over Saudi Deal LONDON — British efforts to seal a major deal with Saudi Arabia for precision-guided bombs appears to be stalled by U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), according to sources here and in Washington. The deal to sell Paveway IV weapons developed by ...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

Mr Teddy must be a defence expert when claiming that EF was sent over Lybia to compensate for the "lack of precision" of Rafale. If he was really unpartial he would know that EF bombing was so inappropriate to this battlefield with 1000lbs bombs that the number of EF decreased from 10 to 4...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

It raises the question of 'can we pay for Rafale and in the same time pay for jaguar engines, trainers, M2000, and so on'.
It's a major concern ! And this alone could put down MMRCA...
So MoD is like Switzerland : chose an aircraft first and then wonder if the money will be available.

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

Rafale 2-seater sacrifices fuel, weight, and a bit of drag also. But operationnal performances are roughly the same as over Lybia we used to see formations of single and 2 seaters Raffys. I think i would have gone for only 2-seaters for the first batch of 18 fly-away a/c, in order to train as max pi...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

Question to all - what is this future Indian Navy combat aircraft program? Other than some of us rooting for F-35 for our navy, we've not heard any one else (Admiral, Defense Minister, Babu etc.) talk about it. A RFI (request for information) was made by Indian Navy 1 or 2 years ago, for 40 a/c. M-...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

I wonder where the Raffy will be assembeled/ manufactured in India? Amethi? I think it'll be in Bangalore at HAL main aircraft division. Don't forget M88/Kaveri engine at GTRE in Bangalore also. And a larg part of the deal should involve Radar and EW components, as well as IR sensor. I don't know w...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

It’s India’s choice - UK can’t tell us which aircraft to buy I found Mr Cameron very selfish : he doesn't care about Indian's choice, about India people! All count for him are the 5,000 UK jobs in the balance (which means 20,000 workers of the 4 nations will be necessary to build the 18 EFT request...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

I am very proud that IAF chose the best aircraft, the real multirole one, with accurate A2G and performing A2A, already with AESA and data fusion.
And I am very pleased to see that Dassault offer was the L1, and that it's "only" 12Md$ (1.6 ahead of the proposed 10.4Md$).

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

It seems that RAF EF pilots have received special orders from HQ not to come too close to French borders and to avoid any contact with AAF Rafale. And a2a exercices between the 2 countries are at a very low level. If true (this statement should be cross-checked), it means they are not confident that...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

from 2:00 onward the MFDs on this E3 taking part in "operation red flag" seem able to track 100s of a/c and fired AAMs graphically too, with trailing motion lines to show direction ... I assume this is real and used for red flag. not sure if it needs the ac to carry anything special. http...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

In case the price difference is only 2%, it is obvious that the best choice is the aircraft which has already the maximum compliance with mmrca requests. Because you never know how much it'll really cost for development (and always more expensive than planned!). So there's no hesitation: let's go fo...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

Just a word about simulated A2A firing. When you train in A2A combat, the participants' trajectories and shoots are stored during flight and gathered at landing to be put together for full debrieffing. So you can check that the simulated shooting of a missile done by fighter A has really reached fig...

Well, last week, it was supposed to be the Eurofighter, so it's a draw. Rumor N°2 : Eurofighter partners, BAE and EA...

In fact it's around $7 billion, for purchase of 16 C17s, in april (2011)
India became the biggest C17 foreign buyer.

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

The JSF is also "the cheapest",while even the USAF cannot predict what the actual cost will be! We just know by now that the 2443a/c required for US (USAF, Navy, Marines, National Guard) will cost 325Md$ to USA only, which values 135M$ each JSF (385Md$ is the full international program fo...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

Concerning Gripen, its price is lower, but the gripenNG is only paper aircraft, half technology is US made (so no transfer to be awaited), they do not have AESA yet, and SAAB industry may not last many years (they won't produce cars in few months).

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

So things seem to hurry now. If it's the main goal, then i would go for Rafale : -already multirole...

Re: India selects Typhoon & Rafale for MMRCA shortlist - Par

What about the option of mmrca cancellation and instead buying the m2000-9 from UAE if they eventually buy the french Rafale ? HAL could implement m2k standard and IAF would have 111 m2s.
But in that case there wouldn't be the transfer of technology that mmrca could secure.
