Not sure if this was posted earlier. http://www.dailymirror.lk/61621/ay-visit-sl-in-march With a new government taking office in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may travel to Colombo in March. If he does go, it will be the first state visit by an Indian PM since Rajiv Gandhi's trip in 1987. ...

Actually it is a nice parallel. Since the kind of lopsided sekularitis that decimated Congress party. It applies to other countries as well. If a group perceives any discrimination, a new equilibrium point is *always* found.

Right. And China is a foreign country as well. If Sinhalese would have felt discrimination is the best option for themselves they would have stuck with Rajapakse. ^^ Exactly Tuvaluan. Once the genie is out of the bottle it can't be put back without a blowback to anyone touching it with a barge pole. Happened time and again. I guess folks need to read up on the SL history atleast around 1980s to understand the discrimination and it's aftermath.

Re: Sri Lanka - News and Discussion

Am hopeful that the new dispensation would deal with the inequality of SL Tamils and the dramatis personae of the GoSL are way better than earlier one. There is nothing like give and take in this situation. Are you suggesting TN elect BJP so that they give citizenship to SL Tamil?
There is too much conflating of unrelated topics. Since you brought up Eelam, are you worried that any closer ties would nudge people towards Eelam?

^^ From what I've heard about the Mandapam camp for refugees, they are under strict monitoring. IIRC they can't even leave the camp for extra income by doing work.
The kids if refugees can't get scholarships.

^^ Am wondering, how difficult it it for NaPak army and ISI to setup this local franchise of ISIS? With the Afghan spigot soon to be turned off, they would need a new avenue for jiziya. It is easier to setup the local chapter yourself than compete with an organic grown variety.
Just speculation onlee.

High time GoI maintains direct contact with GoSL and avoid interlocutors like Vaiko or SuSwamy to interpret the relationship.
