Re: Indian Naval Discussion

Good catch on the missing main gun on F40. I am wondering if the ship was pulled out from a refit to make up numbers for the DAS event.

The 8 cell Klub UVLM launcher should be compatible with Brahmos unless I am mistaken.

First of 8 new Mk. 4 LCU (YN 2092) L 51 was launched at Rajabagan o on Mar 12, 2014. Sadly, there was no announcement from GRSE. However, we are lucky that someone took a video of the event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1muR-EMHv4 Notice that the vessel is not really complete. for instance, the ...

Re: INS Arihant (ATV) News and Discussion -2

I agree with tsarkar. This is shabbiness at its peak. Not quite the way to do good PR is it? BR types would have been able put together a far better maquette (model) of the float with a very good likeness of the Arihant :)

Thanks in advance.

What OLS and TACAN will be on the two Viks? Luna-M OLS? What about the TACAN? Will there be some sort of ILS using lasers?

Will IAC-1 get the same systems as the Gorky?

If I remember correctly, ONGC (or some other entity) also funded the Sukanya class OPVs. It is not unusual for state owned oil companies to fund naval/ CG platforms.

Re: Indian Coast Guard Discussion

L&T built interceptor boat C-406 to be launched (or commissioned?) at Hazira on 15 Sep 2013.

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes ... ots-hazira

The article is confusing as it confuses launching with commissioning and/ or induction.

IN getting more fast interceptor/ patrol craft - this time with ONGC funding. ONGC to hand over 23 ISV by early 2014 to the IN for patrolling ODA. 14 ISV are from Craftway Engineers/SHM Shipcare in Darukhana and 9 from Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding to a Rodman Polyships design. http://freepressjournal.in/n...

There are only 7 'Natya'/ Pondicherry/Karwar class MCMV in service, not 12. Granted 4 or 5 have received major system upgrades but this number is totally inadequate. As a limited stopgap measure, at least 12 LMSC towed minehunting sonar systems have been imported from Edgetech which could be install...

Yes, they have undergone changes to the Combat Management system (CMS), fire control systems and u/w sensors. D54 & D55 have the WESEE developed, BEL built CAIO-SNF as well as IAC Mod C (or Mod O) ASW fire control system. The EW system very likely includes a SEWS V5. They may also have Humsa or ...

Yes, that is an atrocious paint job. Clearly, this was not a priority.

Of interest is the gray color for auxiliaries. This is new. Aux ships were hitherto black hulled with yellow superstructures or black hulled with white superstructure.

Its true that the ship is modular in the sense that its made up of a large number of small hull/superstructure blocks. And the JMSDF is by far the most powerful regional navy. The Japanese subs are very capable boats bu...
