Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
For anti-piracy operations, I think WSI Dhruvs would work better than Sea Kings/Kamovs. The rockets and guns would be useful in hosing down assorted mother/baby ships, and the cabin can yet carry MARCOS.
Too bad they aren't naval qualified.

Re: How to join the Armed Forces? - Recruitment Thread
Sonam,
Please accept my salute to both Nawang and your family for having given so much to the nation.
I have been proudly wearing the 'Khukri of Honour' daily since I received it seven months ago, and have had the opportunity to educate many colleagues here in the U.S. about Nawang's sacrifice.

Sumishi, Please don't be ridiculous. So you claim that you know the correct value of the moon's gravity, but ISRO doesn't? They can design and build launchers, a virtual zoo of highly sophisticated satellites, inject satellites into orbit with precision, build deep space networks ... but they don't ...

In the "Line of Fire" segment on Special Forces, one commando mentions MREs, Chocolate Bars and Boiled Eggs. That's probably a small sample of the kinds of pre-cooked, dense foods that they carry.

Check out the caption. Indian air force pilot, Ajay Rathore, talks with Col. James Browne, 366th Fighter Wing commander,... So Gp. Cpt. Ajay Rathore is an "air force pilot" who has somehow gotten an audience with the good Colonel/Fighter Wing Commander. What in the world happened to...

Nandan, The platforms are one part of the puzzle. What is not as obvious is the huge leaps made in force-multiplication through EW and datalinking. The fleet-wide datalinking project (already underway) has huge implications. Add in Phalcon (which is essentially AWACS + Rivet Joint), and every IAF pl...

Arun_S,
I'm only aware of Q as dynamic pressure. I've not been able to find a reference of Q being related to temp e.g., link (and others like it). (But my knowledge of aerodynamics is fairly elementary, so I don't claim any sort of authority on this.)

The...

Napalm differs from other explosives in that it uses atmospheric oxygen. But if the amount of atmospheric oxygen available to burn is less, Napalm will neither burn as completely nor effectively as in the plains. shiv, I am not an expert in this either, but let me offer a thought.
