Re: LCA News and Discussions, 22-Oct-2013
What do you think of the slight angled setting (LE slightly up than TE at same lateral section) of the inboard section of the wing (the one with lower sweep angle)?? My guess is that the leading consideration for the geometry of the bottom surface of the wing at that location is regulation of obliq...

Let's not lose sight of the fact that we are arguing here because ADA has just said LCA will need to drag its butt for another YEAR to get FOC. Why is anyone defending this rubbish? Or is it acceptable? Neither ADA/HAL nor IAF appears to have a clue on running a de novo fighter program. There is en...

Not regularly keeping up and just saw your post - you did not complete your math which I did a while back. Here is my calc Assume 65K carrier requires 6 LM2500 engines (going by 4 for 40K IAC) Fuel consumption per hour in lb = 6 turbines * 0.354 SFC lb/shp-hr (from GE site) * 40,500 shp = 86K lb Fu...

People greatly underestimate the effort involved in upsizing or downsizing an airplane or missile - you can't just divide all physical measurements by two and have a missile that weighs half as much and has half the range. A Question to Gurus:- Does the wing twist on LCA adds to drag? As with all things aero, the answer is: it depends. :D (I assume you are talking about span-wise wing twist (either geometric or aerodynamic) and not the reflex camber of the wing, which is something else altogether.) The twist can pote...

I think they are moving from a detachable chute cover to one that is hinged to the airframe. People therefore won't have to search for it after the chute deploys and detaches, and therefore it doesn't have to be in highviz dayglo colors any more. Back to boring old Tipnis grey.

As Mr Spock says, it doesn't compute ! The way to compare is for wings with same wing area !
