I think that Astra-2, QRSAM missiles will be similar to Barak-8 ie MRSAM=SRSAM along with TCR or MMSR. That is somewhat similar missile with faster, perhaps single phase missile with shorter range radar based on mobile platform.

In Getting cheated! We paid Rs 3000 crore for AL-55 and deal for Shakti engine is worth Rs 40,000 crore over 30 years but technology absorption is nil. On the other hand budget for HTSE-1200, dry thrust Kaveri engine and 25kn engine is only around Rs. 400 crore each.

I have personally talked to small arms designers in DRDO at a Def Expo eons back. They told that they were specifically barred from 2000 to 2006 from developing a follow on to INSAS. Only later they were permitted to proceed ahead and they developed MCIWS.
