And, maritime trade. India was also a transshipment point between China and the Arabs & beyond. The excellent knowledge about the wind patterns helped Indian seamen to navigate. Funan, Champa, Sri Wijaya, Majapahit et al are fine examples of thalassocracies which were Hindu/ Buddhist influences.

Only those 12 Eastern coastal provinces are the 'cradle' of China, Han-core. The rest are accretions or Greater or Akhand China.

It is good that the four top leaders decided to hold the QUAD meeting on the sidelines of the G7 meeting. Otherwise, this meeting wouldn’t have taken place at Sydney as Biden had to return. It shows the importance that the four nations give to the QUAD.
