Raja Ram thanks for the nice summation. Yes there was total blankout of PK-II. All we know is its start and end dates. And approx. location 150 km from border so no need to notify anyone. I also note the difference between '71 and now that you have pointed out. Last time it was Mrs. IG who had to go...

Re: Pak nukes activation during Kargil crisis - Discussion

I think the Indian press reports have put a different spin on the Bruce Reidel report. He in essence says that the TSP Army activated its nuke forces wihtout the knowledge of the electd politcal authority - Nawaz Sharif. If this is not a rogue operation I dont know what is. It clearly shows that the...

I dont know about that. We already know that during Kargil India did activate its necessary deterrent. See teh BRF archive. This 'leak' will not deter India from what it decides to do. Also Bruce Reidel is writing his memoirs and that is why the paper is coming out. BTW, India Abroad(May 4th issue h...

Vikram your comment the GOI should show similar pro-active thinking is quite illuminating. In the past it has shown that. During '71 war it had only one battalion facing the PLA. However it had ~13 squadrons dedicated for that effort. One thing to think about is there can be no sudden shift of air a...
