Re: China Military Watch

What is truly incredible in this episode is that we have drones crawling out of the woodwork after 9 years. :) Good show handlers. Hu says you're not good? Who cares if there are two prototypes or one except the drones particularly interested in getting that white man to say "Oh my God! They'v...

Re: China Military Watch

Right, right... the fact something is being "done" to the engines is clear. However, what's actually being done is very much a mystery. Here's the latest and greatest (made this a URL instead of an image because it's so damn big... and can't figure out how to resize): http://pic.yupoo.com/...

Re: China Military Watch

Here's another comparison pic between the two, notice the double layer of serrated edges on the WS-10x engined prototype: I don't think there's too much doubt left that there have been two different engines (or at least exhaust nozzles) in use this week. Whether that means there's one plane or two....

Re: China Military Watch

The nozzle is wide open and the plane and the photographer is behind the plane and yet, the inside is pitch black! You can easy everything about the plane and even the colour of the nozzle, but not the flames inside! I don't see any flames in this video with the (supposed) AL-31 version, either, an...

Re: China Military Watch

Could you please show me a video with the WS-10 engine! I mean look at all the original pics which came out. None of them had a silvery nozzle. All of a sudden some have started changing colours. So the one with the AL-31 is undergoing taxi trials with the bay door open. But the one with the WS-10 ...

It is most probably doctored. I don't believe that the Chinese would jeopardize such a prestigious project on an unproven engine. But you are free to believe whatever you want to. I think I should state the same to you: you are free to "believe" whatever you want to. On the other hand, th...

Exactly my point. It is as simple as that. China is trying to grow its military might as its economy grows. Nothing wrong with it. Any country in its place would. Re: China Military Watch

Why can't people take a simple view at things. It is a painted prototype. You are right. A government-run media can't show an unpainted plain on national screen. It is as simple as that. It is using some tested engine (most probably a Al-31) as an interim till WS-10/15 comes up. There is nothing wr...

Re: China Military Watch

Just wanted to add another comment... the exact capabilities of the J-20 vis-a-vis F-22/F-35 is interesting, but ultimately probably not that important. The odds of them actually facing off in combat is slim. The strategic importance here, is that with every such upgrade (J-20/ASBM), Beijing grows m...

Re: China Military Watch

An observation on the J-20. It looks like the plane is making taxi runs and undergoing initial cheks. Normally, (Tejas, JSF, Pak-Fa) when such tests are done, the plane never come out in their final colour schemes. We have seen others in their green and yellow primers. Is there any reason why J-20 ...
