Re: LCH and other Helicopters Discussion Thread

Sorry to interrupt ongoing discussion, but I had this question in mind and feel that some guru will be able to answer it. From what I understand, Denel has shutdown AH-2 Rooivalk project after supplying South African AF with just 12 birds. Denel has stopped the funding but they would still have the ...

With due respects I would like to suggest that we call it 'The Awakening'. Because it is an awakening in many respects. Military, Economic as well as political.

There are lots of IFs & BUTs in the history. If we had crossed the seas and conquered Europe. But that doesnt make sense as its history. What we need to do is learn from our mistakes and ensure that it doesnt get repeated. Eg Brigadier Surinder Singh was lax then how come his immediate superior ...

@ JCage, that way our PSU & private sector can make real good money. Even setting up necessary infrastructure in host country will give good financial and diplomatic returns. More employment for our citizens and wider exposure coupled with growth of our defence industry will in turn contribute t...

Moving forward...can we then export some Arjuns with downgraded features to smaller friendly countries? That should ensure the financial viability for the private players. Good idea that one. Being a business minded person that I am, I would be the happiest man when we start exporting defence equip...

Is the tactical display one with touch screen ? And it has something similar to IVIS. Arjun is not only a tank but a BMS (Battlefield Management System. I am sure T-90S is nowhere close. If only IA would utilise it effectively.

AFAIK, F-18* would carry AIM-9X & AMRAAM as Sparrow has long been out of service. And ithe jockey would be Lieutenant and not Flt Lt in USN. As Flt Lt is rank in Brit/Indian AF. USAF has same rank structure as US Army.

Parshuram was terrific. He was a Brahmin by birth but he was a Kshatriya by deeds (karma). He provides an example as to how a person should deal with the corrupt and protect the weak. Though he had quick-silver temper he's the best. IIRC he wiped Kshatriyas from face of earth not once not twice but ...

Let me take the liberty to answer that. Dhara is a Sanskrit word (if I am not wrong), it means land/earth. And its pronounced like dhAra & not like dhAAra (a brand of oil which means stream). I am sorry if I am not very clear, but thats the best I could do.
