Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread - Jan 12, 2012

Only useful take away from that article: MO and MF are feeling huge pressure about Arjun. The fault lines are becoming very clear now.

Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread

Fact is: with a little forward planning and support for in house engineering and development, army would have had a better tank than current arjun (working with drdo or whoever). Instead all throughout the 90s and 00s all an army officer could say about arjun project was: "biggest failure of in...

Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread

Just cause theres plenty of Rajas around, doesnt mean you hate Manmohan Singh. I dont think any one here ever attacked Sanku's Army background personally.

Re: LCA News and Discussions

The main point to note is that fiber has much lower latency and is a mature technology with lots of COTS suppliers. Weight reduction will be a minor improvement because of the short distances involved here and also because fiber comes with more complicated connectors. Fiber definitely has more bandw...

RayC wrote:You maybe, but ask those who will lose their lives in such a coffin!
It is just not fair for you to put up such a statement. To suggest that drdo or any one here is asking for coffins to be rolled out for our soldiers is horrible. It is galling to read such statements from supposed gentlemen.

Sanjay M, please show some respect for those "Abdul Kalam" types. They are revered by many on this forum. I'm sure you did not want to offend their sensibilities.

Re: Indian Missile Technology Discussion - 27 March 2008

Probability value of an event can be from 0 to 1. 1 equates a 100% success rate. So, 100% probability is a misnomer, but because of definition of the range of values rather than the semantics.

We should also consider the general opinion of officers about the Arjun. After all we are disucssing the army's attitude vis-avis local products. As far as I know, most army guys, junior or senior, are quite ignorant about projects unless they have used the systems. And then they have poor opinions ...

Shiv Aroor is claiming a lot of things. He wants accountability from army brass. Thats a touch grand coming from him. The man has no sense of accountability. If Lt. gen Thamburaj was so against brazen chariots, why did he have his own full rehearsal on the 15th. Shiv Aroor is a sorry excuse for a jo...

C Panda is a typical PRC trained propaganda bot. There is no way to educate or debate with bots like him. They are perfectly trained to spout exactly as instructed by party high-command. Ignore and please continue the otherwise fine debate.

I wouldn't know about heavy armour on sea. But, your description of "their" device seems to be similar to a shaped charge which is very common. It is used in RPGs, HEAT rounds, mines etc. Recently they were made famous by the US army calling them Explosively Formed Projectiles and were cri...

Please do a count off the top of ur heads and let everyone know how much you all have contributed monetarily. It'll be nice if the greater br community can chip in towards a rolling br fund. There is a contribution link up somewhr, but it'll be awesome if you put up a target ala wikipedia.

Dont read too much into sun-tse or our dear ex-chairman/woman/ugly-pig. The reality is that GOI ppl (i.e. the ones who matter), are quite aware of such things as chinese mentality and their cultural affiliation to a use of fear/terrror tactics. Yellow boys think their methods are sound, and that the...
