abhischekcc,
Who cares what happens to Oirope, as long as it doesn't impact India? Unfortunately, it does. Before global warming leads to an European ice age, it would flood half of Mumbai and other low-lying Indian coastland. Global warming is a global monster that impacts all.

Sanku, Even before you joined BRF, I had clarified this with Arun_S. You can refer to a couple of threads back to get a better perspective on the discussion for the 3-stage cycle. As for my assumptions on kick-starting the 3-stage program being wrong, care to elucidate what your assumptions are and ...

How is it possible? India/PRC can lessen the need for gas with alternate energy source, but is there any substitute for gasoline yet? What is the share of ME OIL(19 bbd) in the global supply. Acharya, I don't have the exact ME breakdown, but OPEC seems to get about 37 out of 49 bbds for '05. So I w...

N-power is not the magic wand for India's energy woes; but it is certainly one of the best and cleanest alternatives. The only other decent alternative is building massive hydro-elec. dams (I don't consider existing or potential renewable avenues as addressing power gaps for future power needs, unle...

pray what is the intent and reason for Hyde act, kinda thick skinned ( at very high level no need to read clause by clause) NPAs and the old-school warriors probably thought, they can get away with putting 'poison pills'. ShauryaT, We both are batting for the same team. The difference seems to be if a particular approach is Ok for the long-term well-being. Now we know that NDA did try for a similar deal, then the half- and qtr-brights botched it. It is clear that J18 is not fully adhered to in the draft 123 and I als...

The linked Rediff article claims, India got the same rights as nuclear weapon states - I am simply aghast that after all this, starting with the different interpretations of J18, M2 (perpetual safeguards), and now 123, which seems to limit reprocessing to 20% enrichment levels - same as allowed for...

SaiK, Thanks. I didn't remember reading 't Obama's interest in FBR. Will try to find more on it. Agreed that it is OUR stock and we can do whatever we want, but I assume we didn't reprocess that stock because of the perception that it will violate the treaty. With this agreement, what happens to the...

My hope is that the existing stocks are not to be treated similar to NSG sourced fuel. Hopefully there is some clause which allows to reprocess this in our existing facilities. Our existing stocks are our own, their utilization sole preserve of GoI/ DAE. IAEA/ US/ NSG don't have anything to do with...

Shankar, Please try to understand the gist of what 123 entails. The threat of sanctions was always there, 123 or no 123. Without 123, there was no fuel for the civ reactors. With 123, we can now get N-fuel and/ or dual-use components (depends on NSG guidelines) directly for the 1st and 3rd stage civ...

We're not talking small peanuts here. India staying out of the GNEP tent automatically constrains the entire future profit stream to be had by a new energy cartel.
