Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
I guess Diesel may not catch fire easily, but has the tendency to explode. That's why usually buses / Lorry catching fire results in causalities...Diesel tank explosion...You give the right pressure and temperature ...and kaboom !!! Having said that, the near mushroom like explosion in the picture ...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
Not at all a great idea! You wish to invest millions of indian tax payers money on sending a naval flotilla to check on piracy because of this incident?!! And its preposterous even to suggest that IN should use submarines to sneak & peek & take photos. A very voyeuristic idea! Sohamn ji Mic...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
Imagine if an Indian civilian ship is taken over by pirates and some navy blows it up after seeing armed pirates on the ship. That would we wrong because innocent civilian hostages would have died. Similarly, if this was indeed a Thai civilian ship whose innocent crew also died due to the actions o...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
Our media is getting too paranoid about this incident. I remmeber when a USN ships shot down the Iranian plan the captain and the crew were awarded medals. Here IN shot the vessel after the vessel shot back at IN. Its perfectly fine, may be there was some collateral damage - but this should deter ot...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
i think rather than a klub may be a torpedo can be used. They would be very effective against speed boats. By the way the captain and the crew should be awarded medals so that next time they see a pirate ship they should not mistake it for a fishing vessel and leave it. It is the thai boats problem ...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
i doubt tabar would have fired without any provocation, I am sure that the boat which Thai guys claim was theirs would have been captured by pirates and was being used as mother ships. Or may be Thailand was supplying weapons to the pirates otherwise it would have not exploded with a bang. Remember,...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
I think along with INS Mysore, if we could also position our Super Devs(FAC) near the gulf of Aden. These are ideal to tacke the pirate speed boats with its speed of over 35knots. These boats can respond fast and their 20mm guns are ideal to deal a blow to most pirate speedboats. These boats could r...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership
i am sure attaching a heavy machine gun on the side of a sea king will do the trick for most of the pirates. But this is an excellent chance for us to brush our skills. Probably we should deploy some subs too. They can creep up to the harbour and blast some mother ships with a heavy torpedo. IN coul...

Re: Indian Military Aviation
guys, i don't know from where you got this info that arc operates b 707. I don't think any indian operator uses 707 anymore. Even usa is planning to dispose the 707's. It has very high maintenance and bad fuel efficency. As per phalcon is concerned i think il 76 is the best option for india. Because...

This is really a blessing in disguise. Now the goverment will think twice before making any deals with the russians. We could have a JV with Boeing/Airbus/Embraer and come up with a new or modified existing aircraft. I hope the PAK-FA deal dosen't come up with a similar end. High time we start fundi...

A investigation needs to be done to find out whether China is using its influence and money to derail the Indo - US nuclear deal. As it was revealed that KGB had spies in the Congress and Left during 70's and 80's, it may be a strong possibility that the chinese has done the same in some indian poli...

Harry, The AIM-120 comes in many variations. The AIM 120 A has a headon range of about 60KM and a tail chase range of around 20KM or more. I guess this is the version that the pakis have taken. But the dis advantage of this version is that - initially the missile is just fired like a rocket in the d...

i have a big doubt. How can they use a ballistic missile to counter another ballistic missile and used as abm shield? Generally a ballistic missile has a very short and fast powered flight and then it has a longer ballistic flight which is not a powered flight. During this stage some maneuverations ...
