Re: China Military Watch - Jan 11, 2011
Good article Mahesh. Thanks. But quoting from that: One big reason India is beefing up its arsenal: China. "It goes without saying that India must be seriously concerned with the rise of China's strategic power, including its military and economic power," says Ashwani Kumar, member of parl...

Re: LCA News and Discussions
Agree with you Lalmohan. Having sold mainframes to ISRO, HAL and NAL, I was struck by one thing. The humility, the eagerness of the people to learn something knew, their intellect and knowledge. Their dedication was so heart warming that I used to love sitting and chatting with them. In fact, I inst...

Re: Attention non-members and lurkers !
Hi BRites,
Newbie here though I have been following various forums as an unintentional lurker.
Dad was in aviation and I am from IITKGP.
Really impressed by what is posted on these forums and I hope I can contribute. And I get a clear view of the a/c landing at HAL from my window.
Cheers

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
Does Mr. Tellis know what he is speaking of? [quote]"And, I am not sure that the Russians have figured out how to build a machine that is really efficient in terms of spending more time in the air rather than spending more time in maintenance," he said. Thus, Tellis predicted confidently th...

Re: LCA News and Discussions
Thanks for the observation Singhaji. Gurus, please correct me if I am wrong. But an unstable a/c makes for agility and manouvreability? So the trail of the LCA, as seen in the video should not be a problem at all. The flight control software, which a/c like the Holland Gnat (the Sabre Killer) did no...

Re: LCA News and Discussions
Thanks Singhaji. What worries me is that with 32-33 operational squadrons we seem to be very cool about what I feel are possible threats all along our borders. (Northeast/ Northwest and our coastline) And the chin-pak axis gloating over it. At times a strong force is itself a deterrent. But we are a...

Delayed again? Beyond 2012!!
Why can't they give a timebound schedule! Are we losing the plot as far as Tejas is concerned?

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
@nachiket Not an airforce type alas, but an engineer with a dad who was in aviation. Hope this helps. http://insideracingtechnology.com/tech103anglattack.htm what happens is that when the wing goes up, the lift increases. (E.g. An aircraft taking off from a runway). However, if the angle between the...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
Phew! With 260 a/c the biggest bang for the buck would be MIG35/Gripen NG! Unless, ofcourse, the other vendors slash their prices like anything. I think the Gorshov deal would make our mandarins more educated in ensuring the legalese. And if the Russians did make a mistake in the cost calculations t...

Re: MRCA Discussion - October 2, 2010
While Aero India will have fantastic displays one hopes that we will ultimately select an a/c which gives us the necessary qualitative edge over the a/c of countries or a combination of countries, who are in the envelope of our threat perception, and give us an edge over their quantitative and quali...
