This is very BIG! Lt Colonel Purohit coming out innocent from this case will drive the final nail in Congress's coffin. I've a very strong feeling that Chidambram is going to get squeezed between the money laundering and this case. He's going to jail or will sing like 'performers' in the famous Heera Mandi of La-Whore.

Do watch this.

A lot of folks say what is the big deal we knew all along that it was a setup.

They are wrong its not about just setting up Lt. Col Purohit but the debasement of the entire ruling systems by motivated coterie of individuals.

Lt. Col Purohit case is India's Drefyuss case where an Army officer is made a criminal for serving an agenda.

The entire system connived in this criminality: Indian Army top brass, Ministry of Defence Officials, Home Ministry, NSA MK Neroynan and SS Menon, politicians like Chidamabaram, and Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi and not to forget the judiciary which still holds Purhit in jail despite many please by NIA that they have no evidence. And the press like Shekhar Gupta and his ilk.

While whining about coups, Congress subverted and launched a coup on the Indian Army with will stool pigeon Generals who were busy in Adharsh Scam type of crimes.

I want an Inquiry Commission to unravel what happened and let the facts come out.
Its not just about setting Lt Col Purohit free.
Its about India and the failure of the Constitution to protect individuals when all connive to defame Hindus.

This can happen to any other religion too.
So need to find out what happened and fix it.

Since that fateful day at Sharm-el-Sheik, a decade back, when our normally taciturn PM suddenly found at a wrong time that he could in fact speak and said what he should not have said, Pakistan has been on a mission to paint India with the same brush that the rest of the world paints it with, terrorism-sponsor.

Ehsanullah Ehsan, the nom-de-guerre for all 'bad Taliban' spokesperson, is expected to mouth what the ISI has tutored him. In fact, it most probably is not any 'Ehsanullah Ehsan' at all; may be some Pashtun or even a fictitious character. Do we remember that the ISI engineered to send some inmate of a prison as a Taliban representative for talks with the Kabul Government? The US Marines even securely transported this cheat to Kabul from Peshawar and back !! Another such impersonator, once again sent by the ISI, assassinated Burhanuddin Rabbani, the Chairman of the High Peace Council.

Soon, China would say that Masood Azhar cannot be singled out for terrorism because both India and the US are at each other. This would be the logical progress in China's stance against India in the UNSC 1267 Committee. The dossiers are all being built up.

I think MMS is part of the "Saffron Terror" conspiracy. This articulation at Sharm-el-sheikh was to give cover to the plan being prepared by Congress to create the "saffron Terror' bogey to put away Hindus.

It just doesn't make sense for MMS to make this claim without any regard to the truth.
And SSM of the 'drafting error' fame was brought in as NSA after MKN was shifted out as he is part of the deep cover story.

I am sure that MMS was a puppet in the hands of His Master and other loyalists were drafted in by INC such as PC, Sushilkumar Shinde, Diggy Raja, Jyanthi Natarajan et al. I believe that the plot goes beyond our borders and INC was (and continues to be) a willing accomplice. Because the Mumbai terror attack happened during the INC regime, no 'inconvenient questions' were asked; otherwise, there would have been all sorts of wild allegations implicating the government itself in the terror act or even 'justifying' cross border urban warfare because of right-wing Hindutva etc.

Pakistan rejects India's demand for re-investigating 26/11 case - PTI
Pakistan has told India that a re-investigation of the Mumbai attack case was "not possible" as the trial was at an advanced stage and , the mastermind of 26/11 assault.

In reply to India's demand to re-investigate the 2008 case and put on trial Jamaat-ud Dawah chief Saeed, "Pakistan said the case has already been at an advanced stage," a senior interior ministry official, who is privy to the correspondence between the two countries over the matter, told PTI on Thursday.

"All proceedings (in the case) have been finalised except recording of 24 Indian witnesses' statements. At this stage, re-investigation is not possible. If India wants conclusion of the case, it should send its witnesses to Pakistan to record their statements," the official said.

Saeed, who carries a bounty of USD 10 million on his head for his role in terror activities announced by the US, and his four aides are under house arrest in Lahore since January 30 under Pakistan's anti-terrorism law.

The JUD chief was put under house arrest previously after the terror attack in Mumbai in which 166 people were killed by 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba men, but he was freed by a court in 2009 due to a lack of evidence against him.

On putting him on trial in that case, Pakistan has sought "concrete" evidence from India.

"India had only mentioned in its dossier that Ajmal Kasab (the lone gunman captured alive) had once met Hafiz Saeed. Thousands of people meet him (Saeed). That doesn't prove anything. Pakistan is willing to try Saeed in the 26/11 case provided India gives us solid evidence against him in this regard," the official quoted Pakistan government's response.

He said Pakistan has also made it clear to India that the Mumbai attack case may not reach its logical conclusion without India's cooperation. "India must send its 24 witnesses to Pakistan to testify in the case for its conclusion," he said.

The trial in the Mumbai attack case has been pending for the past seven years. India has urged Pakistan to complete the trial at the earliest. It has said that enough evidence has been shared with Pakistan to prosecute the accused.

But no proceeding in the case has been held on Wednesdays, the day fixed for hearing in the case, recently at the Adiala Jail Rawalpindi by an anti-terrorism court.

The trial court has already completed recording of the statements of all witnesses here and their cross examination and other relevant record has also been presented before it.

Another mastermind of the attack, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, and Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum face charges of abetment to murder, attempted murder, planning and executing the attack.

Lakhvi was freed two years ago after he secured bail in the case. He lives at an undisclosed location since then.

The other six suspects are in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

Of the 10 LeT men who unleashed terror in Mumbai on November 26 in 2008, only Kasab was captured alive and later executed after a court found him guilty and handed down the death sentence.

India to snub Pakistan court on examining 26/11 attack witnesses - ToI
Following incessant delays owing mostly to the lackadaisical manner in which Islamabad handled it, the ongoing Mumbai attacks trial in Pakistan seems to have reached a dead end.

The Pakistani court seems to have decided that progress can't be made in the trial until the 24 Indian witnesses in the case are examined by Pakistani authorities.

India, however, is unlikely to agree to send the witnesses to Pakistan as it is not convinced Islamabad is serious about taking the trial to its logical conclusion.

In its joint statement with the EU on terrorism last week, the government reiterated that the accused in the attacks, commonly known as 26/11, be brought to justice soon.

"Hafiz Saeed was one of the masterminds of 26/11 and look how he continues to flourish under state patronage despite the evidence provided to Pakistan about his involvement," an Indian official said.

While India could consider examining of the witnesses through video conferencing, no such proposal has yet been made by Pakistan.

The Pakistani court conducting the trial of the seven suspects, including LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, late last month ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appoint a "focal person" to press for getting the Indian witnesses to Pakistan to record their statements in the case.

Apart from Lakhvi, Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum have been facing charges of abetment to murder, attempted murder, planning and executing the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The court took the decision to press for examination of Indian witnesses after the prosecution claimed that this was necessary to conclude the trial.

India, however, has repeatedly said that all evidence against the accused has already been provided and that it is enough to bring to justice the perpetrators of one of the worst terror attacks on Indian soil.

One reason why India is not convinced about Pakistan's intentions is Islamabad's refusal to put Saeed on trial. Pakistan continues to claim that there's not enough evidence against him.

The trial has dragged for over eight years also because of repeated transfer of judges hearing the case. As many as nine judges have heard the case in the past eight years.

A court official was recently quoted as having said that the FIA's focal person will ask Pakistan's foreign and interior ministries to take up the matter with the Indian government to send the Indian witnesses here.

"It appear to be a last effort to bring the Indian witnesses here. Otherwise, like the defence, the prosecution will also request the court to announce the verdict without the statements of Indian witnesses," the official said.

Some of the Las Vegas cops had visited Mumbai to understand the complexities of handling Urban terror

Police officers describe storming the Gunman's Hotel room
"I think they prevented a thousand deaths, and I think it's important for the American public to understand that," Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told CBS' "60 Minutes" on Sunday.

Lombardo had traveled to Mumbai, India, after the November 2008 terrorist attacks on hotels and other sites that left 164 people dead. The sheriff gleaned insight from the trip, he said, and the department now reacts more quickly to such shootings, forming a team to "cease the action'' of the assailant.

"Before we were trained to form a perimeter and hope for the best," Lombardo said. "Now we're trained to gather up and go get it."

The part in red was also stated by a counter terrorism expert that they realized SWAT teams are nice but its the first responders who need to reduce and eliminate the threat.

It seems SWAT teams were created after the Kansas Uty shooting in 1969(?).
Later after Columbine the police realized that first responders need heavy guns to eliminate the threats. But this lesson was reinforced in 26/11 Mumbai attack.

Recall in Pathankot the ATS arrived minus the guns.
In 26/11 the NSG had many delays in arriving in Mumbai.

Compare to Haryana where the police responded to the Dera SS riots and quickly shot the perpetrators.

Hafiz Saeed will be released if evidence not submitted, Lahore court warns Pakistan government - PTI
LAHORE: Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed's house arrest will be set aside if the Pakistan government does not submit evidence against him, a top court here has warned.

Saeed, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief, is under house arrest since January 31.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday heard a plea against his detention. The interior secretary was supposed to appear before the court along with complete record of the case related to his detention along with four others.

Irked by the absence of the interior secretary during the proceedings, the LHC observed that "no citizen can be detained for an extended period on the basis of merely press clippings".

"The conduct of the government shows it has no substantial evidence against the petitioners. The detention of the petitioners will be set aside if no concrete evidence is presented before the court," Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi said.

Another official of the interior ministry accompanied by a deputy attorney general told the court that the secretary could not attend the proceedings due to unavoidable official responsibilities in Islamabad. The law officer sought time to file a reply to the petition.

Justice Naqvi regretted that an army of officers was assigned to protect one government personality but not a single officer was available to assist the court.

Lamenting repeated requests for adjournment, the judge said the law officers wanted courts to stop working. The judge adjourned hearing till October 13.

Saeed's advocate AK Dogar argued that the government detained the JuD leaders on the basis of apprehensions and hearsay. He said under the law no presumption and assumption could give rise to any apprehension unless it was supported by evidence.

Punjab government had already told the court that activities of JuD leaders, if released, would pose great threat to public safety and can cause breach of public order.

Saeed and his four aides - Abdullah Ubaid, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Hussain - have been placed under house arrest in Lahore under the anti-terrorism act.

On September 25, the house arrest of Saeed and others was extended for another 30 days by the Punjab government.

The JuD has been declared as a foreign terrorist organisation by the United States in June 2014.

The US has announced a $10 million bounty on Saeed's head for his role in terror activities.

26/11: Ten years on, trial drags on in Pakistani anti-terror court - PTI

This thread is a treasure trove of details on the Pakistani duplicity.
As India on Monday marked the 10th anniversary of the 26/11 carnage, the trial of seven LeT members facing charges of planning and executing the ghastly Mumbai terror attacks is still being dragged on in a Pakistani anti-terror court though the Islamabad High Court in 2015 directed that the case should be wrapped up in two months.

The attack mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, the operations commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, has virtually secured his acquittal with the Pakistan government indicating no plan to challenge his bail in the Supreme Court.

The six other suspects have also "bright chances" of acquittal with their trial witnessing bizarre twists and turns like frequent change of judges and murder of a prosecutor.

In Pakistan, seven LeT suspects -- Lakhvi, Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jamil Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum - are facing charges of planning and executing the attack since 2009.

There has been a realisation in Pakistan, especially among politicians, that the attacks had demolished all the past efforts to build friendly relations between the two neighbours.

However, there are divergent views on whether punishing the culprits in Pakistan will help restore ties between them.

But like ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, questions are being asked in Pakistan "why trial is not being completed?"

When PTI sought a reaction from the Pakistan's Foreign Office (FO) on the status of the 26/11 trial, the FO spokesman Mohammad Faisal refused to comment in detail and just said, "It is sub judice."

Pakistani prosecutors are, however, quick to blame India for the delay.

Chief prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar told PTI the case can be concluded in a week if India sends 24 witnesses to Pakistan for recording of their statements and other evidence.

"The Mumbai case will take not more than a week to conclude if India allows Pakistan to examine the boat on which the terrorists travelled to reach Mumbai and also send its witnesses here for recording of their statements," he said.

Azhar, who is also Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) special prosecutor, further said India will have to cooperate with Pakistan if it wants logical conclusion of the case.

"Crime had taken place in Mumbai and onus is on India to provide full evidence to Pakistan. The Indian government has not yet either clearly refused to send its witnesses to Pakistan or allow us to examine the boat there. If it refuses, the benefit will go to the suspects and the case will be over," he said.

When asked why the government has not challenged the bail granted to Lakhvi, he said there was no strong evidence against his involvement.

Lakhvi walked free from jail in April 2015 after securing a bail from the trial court, while the six other suspects are in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.

Abuzar Peerzada, another prosecutor in the case, said the hearing of the case in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) is being held on regular basis and the next hearing is on November 28.

When asked about any possible time frame for conclusion of the trial, he said: "No...it is very difficult to give any time frame...as it is not an ordinary trial (involving two countries)."

A lawyer associated with the case, requesting anonymity, said: "Since both Pakistan and India's interests are involved in this case...this is more of a political case than a legal one. And a 'political case' has no time limit (for conclusion)."

Raja Rizwan Abbasi, a counsel for Lakhvi and other six suspects, was reluctant to talk to PTI when contacted.

However, a lawyer close to him said the defence is not filing a bail petition of the six suspects as it is hoping that since enough time has passed they have "bright chances" to secure acquittal.

"The defence lawyers are optimistic about acquittal of their clients. Therefore, they are not moving their bail plea," he said.

Azhar, however, is of the view that they may get benefit only if India does not send its witnesses and other evidence.

The case is being tried in the ATC since 2009. There has hardly been any case in any ATC in Pakistan that is pending for over nine years.

"It appears that the state is not in hurry to decide this case since the matter is related to its arch-rival India," a senior lawyer said.

Interestingly, former FIA chief Tariq Khosa too pointed out lingering on the case "far too long".

"Dilatory tactics by the defendants, frequent change of trial judges (at least nine times), assassination of the case prosecutor and retracting from original testimony by some key witnesses have been serious setbacks for the prosecutors," he said.

Like many others in Pakistan, Khosa too believes the case "will not be over soon".

Earlier in an interview to Dawn newspaper, ex-premier Sharif had questioned, "Should Pakistan allow militants/non-state actors to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai?...Why can't we complete the trial?", remarks that got him into trouble.

Aditya_V or Sachin, One thing that bothers me is that ASI Omble was armed with only a lathi.
And Constable Jadhav of ATS handed over his 9mm pistol to a colleague as later was unarmed.
Shouldn't inspector grade police carry at-least 9mm pistols especially when we have urban terrorism?

Ramanaji,
Plenty of cheap 9 mm semiautomatic hand guns are available in the US. Some are offered at $200 or even lower. If India wanted it, these could be purchased directly or manufactured in India cheaply. However, I see two problems. Buying arms and ammunition is just one part. The other is constant training to keep up on certifications. Periodic training is required in a regular interval. This is where the expenses lie.The second problem is the complete disarming of the Indian population under the British rule. The attitudes developed during this period continues even today, and this has kept the police under armed.

Gautam, After my post went and read a lot of wiki.
Police Inspector ranks and above are issued side arms.
ASI Omble would be issued only when in the police station.
After 26/11 even Glocks are issued.

OFB makes the Browning 9mm and in good quantity and often surplus is sold in gun shops in US.

I am surprised he still has to come back to work. Thought he would have been given an early retirement and a good pension plus facilities looking at the near fatal injuries he sustained doing his job. Instead of big boss and roadies crowd it would be a great service to the nation if such heroes are launched on a platform to share stories of their valour. What a great sight it would be for the new generation

1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused Abu Bakar apprehended in major overseas operation
Indian agencies apprehended 1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused Abu Bakar in a major overseas operation on Wednesday (February 13). One of India's most wanted terrorists, Abu Bakar, had attended a training camp at Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) before executing the attacks, brought RDX (explosives) and conspired with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim at his residence in Dubai.

Along with Abu Bakar, the investigation agencies have also apprehended another accused, Firoz, in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.

Terror needs to be eradicated for people to enjoy rights, Indian American attorney tells US Congress - PTI

- "I owe India an apology, as when she suffered the Mumbai terror attack ...when Jews and Americans were singled out for death by Pak based-terrorists, I joined in arguing for 'restraint'... I was wrong" Batra said.

WASHINGTON: Terror needs to be eradicated, so rights and freedoms mean something, a top Indian-American attorney has said as several US lawmakers underscored the importance of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir after the revocation of its special status.

Ravi Batra's remarks came while responding to a Congressional subcommittee on humanrights in South Asia.

"When you have people afraid to come out of their house because they don't want to be blown up because cross border terrorism exists as a daily event and home-grown terrorist being nurtured. The first thing somebody wants before they want human rights, they want to live," the attorney from New York told the subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Non-proliferation of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"I owe India an apology, as when she suffered the Mumbai terror attack on November 26, 2008, when Jews and Americans were singled out for death by Pakistan-based-terrorists, I joined in arguing for 'restraint'. I was wrong. Terror needs to be eradicated, so our rights and freedoms mean something," Batra said.

Batra said like former US President Abraham Lincoln, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took extraordinary steps like legal amendments to have legal authority and then installing a massive force to prevent fatalities in Kashmir from motivated fire-fights by cross-border or home-grown terrorists.

Batra, who was personally invited by Congressman Eliot Engel, Chairman of the house foreign affairs committee to testify on this important issue, referred to Modi's argument in abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

"He (Modi) said he did this to bring the promise of equal rights and freedoms to all Indians. His actions on August 5, 2019 were judicious, as they were careful. No war broke out. Terrorists were immobilized, as communications and internet were cut off,” Batra said.

"India, it seems, learned from her Mumbai terror attack. Indeed, landing at JFK airport, when standing in line for immigration inspection, there is no phone service or internet connection. Safety matters, " he said.

Batra also drew a parallel between Jammu and Kashmir and the US states of Louisiana and Alaska. "A simple point worth making: Kashmir was attached to India by a legal decree duly signed by its then-Hindu ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, several months after the needlessly bloody Partition when tens of millions were killed, " he said.

Ten years ago the same 'too much CT 'was used to shut up posters who posted this very same arguments which are now mainstream.

I think we see 'too much CT' due to cognitive dissonance.
We don't expect an Indian political party to be so mendacious.
But Congress has proven itself worse every passing year.
Lets see what else gets revealed.

Anujan can you get hold of a timeline of when the book released by Diggy Singh was written and went to press?

BTW Mukesh Bhatt was part of the book release committee.
And it was only a year later we found out his son Rahul Bhatt was an escort/travel guide to David Headley.

In fact David Headley testified that he added some extra targets (Café Leopold, Chabad House) only after his tourist prowl.

Was that also "too much CT"?

Just sad to accept. OTOH, how can ppl who misuse their brains so deeply, come up with a clown like Pappu I wonder, where it really counted.
Diggy is bad news and just pure twisted evil, so not surprised if he was getting guboed by ISI. The rest are getting bitter, true.

And yes, we know ppl who had to fight the attack on IDRF. That was aimed to destabilize the UPA-1. Advani, when he finally was shown a 1-pager on it, is said to have jumped up screaming "Y wasn't I informed earlier?" (Duh! they were all informed all right, they just sat on their musharrafs! Couldn't even be induced to ask ONE question in Parliament that would have derailed that whole train very early instead of us having to fight trench warfare)

Since this was in Mumbai, you are all missing a sure bet by not excavating the links that must have gone through the villa of Smt. Teesta Setalwad, and the Times of India servers. See what you get. One of our (former?) admins here was on speaking terms with TS: he would know how to start digging.

Rakesh Maria the former Commissioner of Police during 26/11 attack has his memoirs out and writes that ISI wanted Kasab to die with fake ids to perpetuate the "Hindu terror" myth.

This begs the question what was Chidambaram et al promoting? And Doggy Singh with his book release!!!
