Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
Congrats ISRO. A lot more successes in queue.
Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
The process has become very automated. I think for historical and show reasons they keep the line of controllers wearing white lab coats sitting in front of the guests in their glass viewing gallery at the back. Other than making verbal announcements about stage and payload separation they were sitting and looking at the monitors

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
The Canadian mini/micro satellite is quite novel, something to do with detecting asteroids. Will the Toronto Star even mention this launch and its very obvious Canadian connection? If so, it would be buried or obscured. Meanwhile, they may carry some derogatory article about India regarding sex-selection tests being done by a doctor in some remote area of India. There's little doubt that if China, Japan or the US launched a unique Canadian satellite, it would receive coverage.
Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
The PSLV launches are routine. The next thing is the GSLV launch.

I was looking for same information on cp24, but they didn't even mention it anywhere. It may be due to Oscars related news.

cp 24 isn't too bad when it comes to India; they did mention the impending launch, on Friday. Let's see if they report its actual sending into orbit. The Toronto Star is awful, the Globe is pretty bad, and that small free paper "Metro News" is rotten( for me,only good for Sudoku
Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
Once the onboard computers take control of the launch 1 or 2 minutes before launch (T - 0), there is nothing much ground controllers can do except monitoring or destroying the vehicle altogether if need be (remember April 2010 SLV launch). Infact when the first GSLV attempt got cancelled before 30 or 40 seconds before launch due to fuel leakage in one of the liquid strapons, the cancellation was done by onboard computers. It also showed the reliabilty of ISRO's software, when other countries have several launch failures right on the launch padThe process has become very automated. I think for historical and show reasons they keep the line of controllers wearing white lab coats sitting in front of the guests in their glass viewing gallery at the back. Other than making verbal announcements about stage and payload separation they were sitting and looking at the monitors
Again not to forget, Congrats ISRO. PSLV has become really became a last page news. But one thing is that media still dont give the due. Its ok if you dont mention the launch., But if you mention it, better be correct. NDTV was mentioning it as a "SMALL" rocket launch. I dont know what it means
Regarding the time tables, its high time to start using a PSLV-HP rather than having two PSLV-CA launches. Also once GSLV comes online with sucess, it would be better to launch more satellites using GSLV rather than having need to launch multiple PSLV's

Whaaaat? You SDRE, cunning and greedy Bhartiyas. . You have a body of elephant but heart of a housefly . Your cities are crowded, your schools are crowded, your universities are crowded, your Parliament is crowded , your Kumbh mela is crowded and now even your satellite bay on PSLV is crowded. No wonder very soon Moon will be crowdednits wrote:Mission Accomplished... all 7 satellites deployed. Bravo ISRO - Congratulations...

Not only that, even a seasoned veteran writer like N.Gopal Raj, or the Hindu copyright editors mentioned two satellites from Australia. They are not from Australia, but from Austria. Probably the proofreaders fault.

Thanks, but spaceref.ca and SpaceFlightNow.com are not sites the average person is going to see today! They will see "Indian doctor performs sex selection test to screen female births" No more from me on this!

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
ISRO has still not put in the HD video cames on outside of fuselage to generate the psyops footage.
not good. just as IAF made a wrong decision to go with DD - they should have paid some money and pulled in a professional action/sports filming outfit of the kind who produced les chevaliers du ciel.

completely agree with u Sir...
there is hardly any difference in the launch video of the first PSLV launch and the latest.
and DD's coverage of any such program always seems to be 80's vintage
thoda style in presentation to banta hai

For sure.. From TSJones' linkkit wrote:Maybe the Canadian satellite will have a dekko at the satellites in orbit including the secret ones !..read china , usa
Jointly funded by the Canadian Space Agency and Defence Research and Development Canada, a research arm of the Canadian military, NEOSSat will collect up to 288 images per day, ultimately covering the entire sky.
Half of NEOSSat's observing time will be devoted to asteroid-hunting, and Canadian military researchers will use the rest of the time experimenting with the craft's ability to spot and track other satellites in high-altitude Earth orbits.
Re: Indian Space Program Discussion
Congratulations ISRO and Team for this Wonderful Achievement , It might seem routine to sucessfully launch PSLV but lot of hardwork ,sweat and pain to make it happen.
