A very clever microchip has been developed in the US, which exploits quantum physics in a very useful way.

Normally, the smaller transistors get, the more quantum physics becomes a problem, and causes current leakage across the transistor gates through quantum tunneling.

However, a new type of transistor gate has been developed which makes use of quantum wave properties to open or close the gate based on constructive or destructive interference of those wave properties. Watch this video:
