Let me say this.. no airplane is cheaper than BMW or Merc or any of those high end cars. Some of these cars have alert systems turns on when the driver closes the eye lid for more than 6 seconds approx. so, what is the problem for the airlines to integrate such technology?

the designers are not user focused perhaps.

and, WTF is "controlled rest"? a short duration paid holiday kind?

most of the time on long distance i think pilots ascend to the proper attitude and put plane on auto-pilot and dunno what they do after that.
