^^^ Unbelieavable indeed in the very near future with a fleet of 230+ Rambhas and all of them able to carry the UPAZ pods one can only imagine what evil schemes the Yindoos will get up to....

So was that a buddy refueling pod that was shown on Tezpur airbase, which we thought was a recon-pod?

Buddy refuelling pod is carried under the wings.. not online the fuselage centerline..

Also the recon pod shape gives it away clearly as EL-2060 pod.. the buddy refuelling pod is a proper body of revolution - not asymmetric cylindrical shape like the EL-2060 pod

^^ hmm.. okies. But Sukhoi 30 family does carry buddy refueling pod in center line fuselage, not under the wings.

A small correction, IAF Su-30 uses Flight Refueling pods and not UPAZ.

This was to ensure compatibility with Mirage and Jaguar fleets. There are no Russian refuelling systems in use, the Il-78 uses Israeli systems.

There is ONLY a reference to the SU-30 having a 754 series pod I cannot find anyone but Prasun Sengupta claiming that IAF has the 754 series pod on the Su-30MKI.

See the OEM's 2009 PDF about the 754 series pod, note the pic (I have not seen any IAF airman walk around in white t-shirt). Also you would you think that Cobham would be proud to be associated with IAF and Su-30MKI if there was a 754 on the MKI?
http://www.cobham.com/media/33361/cob_m ... _uk_fa.pdf

Here is another reference to the IAPO Su-30MK with 754 series pod which fits most timelines. Again...IAPO Su-30MK is the MKI and MKM.
Malaysian Flankers poised to be operational by year-end wrote:The Malaysian Su-30MKMs will be capable of buddy refueling, and Cobham of the UK announced during LIMA that it had signed an $18 million contract to integrate the 754 Buddy Refueling System pods onto the aircraft. Cobham qualified the system on the Su-30 fighter in 2005, and during the show also announced a agreement with Protank Technologies for in-country support.

Okay this is for reference purposes from Force December 2009 in one of their 'by invitation' pages. Page 52 .
As explained by Andy Stevens, who takes over as CEO of Cobham in January 2010 and has been doing business in India for more than 15 years, " We have had the pleasure of working with India for a number of years supplying air to air refuelling solutions, antennas and avionics for the Dhruv helicopter and weapons carriage and release products for the Jaguar.."

er. pardon me, but when my dog displays a blunt pointed red structure under his belly I know what he is thinking. But what would a similar structure indicate under the belly of an Su 30 like the one on the right in that picture :?:

In the last picture showing Mountbatten talking to Scottish soldiers......there is a second line of Indians behind them.......somwhow I do not think Mountbatten would be inspecting them. To think we made him a honored guest at every republic day parade till the day he passed away.

This picture should be a psy ops lesson on pre independent racism for those who preach the virtues of Brit rule in India.

I say you guys are reading too much into a photograph, or have already made up your mind before you saw the photo.

Nice one Jagan garu, helps to put things in perspective. About the A2A refuelling pic, I thought it was also a part of the Phil Camp book on IAF flankers (could be wrong though). FWIW, from poster ghostrider 883 @ combatace forums:

http://forum.combatace.com/topic/31127- ... n-service/
Just got my copy minutes ago :Yahoo: . Was simply blown away by the number of pictures it contains. There are different sections...... SU-30 MKIs' development, Avionics, Weapons, Squadron Info etc.
My favourite pics were that of a MIrage 2000TH getting refuelled by a SU-30MKI and a pic showing view from the WSO's cockpit as the MKI gets refuelled mid-air by an IL-78MKI  .
Will post detailed review when I finish reading the book.

Yes, that's IAF patch. It was also seen when Phalcon had just arrived in India.
As to the writing, I had wondered the same when I had seen it at that time.

^ No they are made in India . Rahul I guess they chose to stay with the colloquial term (at least in India) and perhaps being an acronym just made the choice easier.

Guess since there are no official announcements yet the LCH is yet to take to the skies, am sure there would be a press brief post the first flight just like in the case of first flight of the prototype LCA trainer

None so far... and my office window faces the HAL tarmac... But the amount of activity sure is high.. lots of ground runs of some bird is taking place though (never see any plane on the hammerhead when the engine is in full roar)....
