RIP Bharat Verma

Post by Rupak »

Dear All,
After a brief and heroic battle with lung cancer, Bharat Verma passed away in Delhi today. Founder and editor of IDR, Bharat was an early supporter and friend of this website. Even though he was diagnosed with the cancer in December, he kept it hidden until the very end.

Rest in peace, dear friend.

A very sad day. Personally, he gave me my start, dealt fairly with me and always gave good advice. To think we never met.

Our respects to the late Captain Bharat Verma.

He was a regual contributor to Bharat Rakshak Monitor in the old days...

Pakistan: The Counter Strategy

By Bharat Verma in the first BR Monitor

There are many such articles by him.

He also gave ArunS the space to publish his articles in IDR to reach wider audience.

R.I.P. Captain Bharat Verma.

His vision in starting a publishing house specializing in defence was one of the reasons that school kids like me (in the 80s) developed an interest in Armed Forces History. I grew up on a healthy diet of good military history books . Rest in Peace.

Bharat Verma's contribution to make Defence issues more popular amongst general citizens of India is indeed a great legacy that he leaves behind. I have been a witness to his great enthusiasm and support for BR Forums and Monitor. India has lost a great son. His legacy will continue to be an inspiration. May we all be inspired and stay inspired!

May God grant him his place in the heavens!
