@Karan >>>Paul, they were equally good in the second chechnya wars and the georgia intervention. The intervention in Ukraine is merely the result of decades plus of hard fighting.<

Not talking about fighting capability ..i am talking about Army Kit.

What is being displayed in Crimeria is moons away from the 2008 conflict in Georgia. Compare our kit today Vis a vis Kargil.

(Free) SAM (Surface to Air Missile System) Simulator

"Realistic to the switch"
About the simulator
What is this simulator about?
This is rather a system simulator, not a game.

The main goal during development was to simulate what the operators of the SAM battalion could see, and hear during engagement.

The program is still under development, new versions are uploaded regularly.

Technical problems
What is needed, to be able to start the simulator?
Computer must be able to display resolution 1280x1024, or above. Notebooks with smaller resolution, needs to be connected into external LCD to be able to play.

3DAAR (3D After Action Report) tracks seem to crawl on surface.
Uncheck "Adjust altitudes to ground height " option in Google Earth, after you dropped your 3DAAR into it...

Israel Banks on 10 More Years of US Aid
Despite misgivings over US President Barack Obama’s Mideast agenda and deep-rooted doubts about his ability to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran, the Israeli government is taking the US president at his word that it can expect another decade of military aid.

In fact, it’s banking on it.

After many months of internal debate and bureaucratic resistance from the Israeli Treasury, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has government approval to take on more than $2 billion in commercial debt for near-term buys of V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft and other Pentagon-approved weaponry.

Under a US-approved deferred payment plan (DPP), Israel would pay only interest and fees over the course of the current agreement set to expire in September 2018. Principal will be covered by the new Obama-pledged package that would extend annual foreign military financing (FMF) aid through 2028, US and Israeli sources say.

During his visit here last March, Obama committed to talks aimed at extending US military assistance beyond the current 10-year, $30 billion agreement signed in 2007 under the administration of President George W. Bush.

In a joint news conference in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Obama said at the time that a follow-on aid agreement was “part of our long-term commitment to Israel’s security.”

Under the existing agreement, annual FMF grant aid to Israel grew from $2.4 billion to $3.1 billion, minus subsequent recissions of some $155 million due to the US government-mandated sequester.

Bilateral talks on extended aid are still preliminary, US and Israeli sources stress, and a finalized deal is unlikely by the time Obama leaves the White House in January 2017.

But given Obama’s backing and overwhelming congressional support for its “principal strategic partner” in the region, Israel can count on follow-on funding, said Danny Ayalon, a former Israeli ambassador to the US.

Japan to relax arms export ban

AoA.
The new conditions would allow Japan to jointly develop arms with allies and give its defence industry access to new markets and technology.

Due to JASSMs stealth characteristics, the South Koreans were denied this missile from Uncle Sam. The 1000km JASSM-ER would be a formidable weapon for SEAD and DEAD missions especially in the South China Sea region where Chinese Sukhois would have much longer legs to interdict USAF or USN fighter aircraft.

The Killer Drone Goes Stealthy
the U.S. Navy is flying three X-47B demonstrators off its aircraft carriers, a major technical accomplishment. The X-47B, is stealthy and has weapons bays, and the Navy loves showing it off to reporters. Though it remains just a demonstrator, it serves to inform that the only big, competitive aircraft program is really at the moment, meant to deploy around 2020.

Phantom Badger, reporting for duty

Image

Image
Vital Stats
Boeing Phantom Badger

Gross vehicle weight: 7,850lbs
Payload capacity: 3,356lbs
Towing capacity: 4,000lbs
Dimensions: 60in wide x 180in long
Engine: 3-litre turbocharged V6, multi-fuel capable (diesel or JP-8)
Drivetrain: Four-wheel drive with all-wheel steering
Fuel consumption: 21mpg
Cruising range: Approx 450mi
The Willys MB – better known as the original jeep – was a game-changer during World War II. Small, agile, versatile and durable, jeeps were easy to deploy, easy to operate and easy to maintain, making them perhaps the Allies’ most important battlefield equipment. More than 70 years later, US aircraft maker and defence supplier Boeing has revisited the original jeep’s winning formula in a stocky little bruiser of a car called the Phantom Badger.

Like the MB, the Phantom Badger is compact – just 60 inches wide – and, with four-wheel steering, it is highly manoeuverable. The setup gives the vehicle a turning circle of just 24ft – fully 10ft tighter than a Mini Cooper’s. Such agility is particularly valuable in urban environments, where the ability to make tight turns and slip through narrow alleys can change the outcome of a battle.

And like the original jeep, which employed a version of the Go Devil L-head engine from Willys’ civilian Americar line, the Phantom Badger makes use of the 3-litre turbo-diesel V6 from the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The engine – which can run on JP-8 jet fuel as well as diesel – produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, sufficient to enable the four-wheel-drive Badger to reach a breezy 80mph on paved surfaces.
the Osprey can deliver cargo to tight spaces and hostile environments and get out quickly. (The current record for off-loading a Badger is just 17 seconds.)

Russia signs $18 Bln worth of new weapons export contracts - Putin
Russia is the world's second largest exporter of conventional weapons after the United States, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said. "We have confirmed this once again that Russia is one of the leaders of the global market and remains firmly in second place in terms of weapons export volume," Putin said at a session of the commission for Russia's military-technological cooperation with foreign states.

The US controls 29 percent of the world's weapons market, Russia 27 percent, Germany 7 percent, China 6 percent, and France 5 percent, he said.

"Last year exports of Russian commodities and services as part of military-technological cooperation grew by 3 percent to $15.7 billion, which is a little higher than in 2012," the president said.

New long-term contracts worth $18 billion were signed, bringing the "Russian portfolio" of arms export contracts to an all-time high of $49 billion, he said.

"It is important not to stop at this, but move rapidly to overhaul the industrial base, introduce cutting-edge technologies and broaden the agenda of research and development efforts," Putin said.

I believe the DF-3 deliveries began before the MTCR was formed. China's not a signatory but did pledge to follow its guidelines (though conveniently a couple of years after the Saudi sale).

Saudi did not confirm they had DF-3 till they made it public , So MTCR sanctions should be applied irrespective when the sale took place.

US applied MTCR sanction in 1992 on India and Russia when Russia officially joined MTCR in 1995
http://www.mtcr.info/english/FAQ-E.html

Infact China is not listed among MTCR countries but has just verbally agreed to adhere to it ..no legally binding treaty.

US had earlier applied MTCR sanction on Pakistan and China for M-11 related deal in the 90's

Saudi and China is eligible for Cat 1 sanction under MTCR for full transfer of Missile to the formet lets see if US applies the same standard on Saudi and China now.

Israeli espionage on US at alarming level - report
Israel spies on the United States more than any other ally does and these activities have reached an alarming level, Newsweek magazine reported on Tuesday. The main targets are US industrial and technical secrets, the weekly said, quoting classified briefings on legislation that would make it easier for Israeli citizens to get visas to enter America.

Newsweek said a congressional staffer familiar with a briefing last January called the testimony "very sobering ... alarming ... even terrifying", and quoted another as saying the behavior was "damaging."

"No other country close to the United States continues to cross the line on espionage like the Israelis do," said a former congressional staffer who attended another classified briefing in late 2013, according to Newsweek.

It said that briefing was one of several in recent months given by the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, the FBI and the National Counterintelligence Directorate, AFP reports.

The former congressional staffer said the intelligence agencies did not give specifics, but cited "industrial espionage-folks coming over here on trade missions or with Israeli companies working in collaboration with American companies, [or] intelligence operatives being run directly by the government, which I assume meant out of the [Israeli] Embassy."

Israel's espionage activities in America are unrivaled and go far beyond activities by other close allies, such as Germany, France, Britain and Japan, counter-intelligence agents told members of the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees, Newsweek said.

IIRC the China-Saudi missile deals were given the go ahead and to some extent even facilitated by the CIA in a bid to counter iraqi scud attacks in the 90s and to deter iran in the present day

MTCR is a joke, it does not apply to Polaris/Trident transfers US to UK, China pissing on it for Missile sales to Iran, Pakistan and Saudi.

It only applies to Russian transfers to SDRE's

Well they managed to thwart SDRE for 20 years in acquiring Indiginous CUS for GSLV and cutting us from Geo Launch Market during that period , what else do you want

Since I remember the Cryo MTCR sanction so well as I had following it since the time it began , The US used MTCR clause on Cryo Transfer and said CUS engine will be used by INDIA for ICBM and any donkey then and now knows it you can use Cryo technology in BM development forget ICBM due to technical reasons.

When Russian companies under cut the US and Western companies in supplying the Engine and its Technology and they won the tender , the US suddenly remembered MTCR and applies Cat 2 sanctions against India and Russia , though IIRC it was not just related to ISRO but also many acedemic and scientific institution that supported ISRO.

While a Clear Violation of MTCR has happened with China-Saudi IRBM deal and a perfect candidate for Cat 1 sanction under MTCR for supplying entire missile technology ( not just parts ) but Saudi being US Munna it is MTCR proof and China doing the just and right thing here
