There seems to be enough space between the intakes. Though couldn't make our clearly from the video if the space was empty or not. And this is the first prototype. The final production variant might be different.

This video is not of today's flight.

This is the taxiing trials of the end of Dec.

The plane starts from the ground, does a nose-up then comes to a stop using the airbrake pachutes.

Pretty much on the expected lines just a tad too conservative , Russians used the same Flanker layout i.e. wide spaced engines but still under the wings , engine inlets have rounded edges and same is the case with the radome , nozzles are circular (but this was expected) , canted fins (expected) more importantly smaller as against usual Ru liking for huge fins. No bubble canopy . The bulbous spine between the two nozzles is pretty huge . I guess now that 0.5 msq RCS figure sounds reasonable .

they will change the engine , a new one is under development but I'm not sure about Stealthy or not

very nice and mean looking ... Seems like the video is from taxi runs - But surprised that eventhough there seems to some people standing to watch the plane, nothing has appeared on internet before today!

The design looks like developed for all round performance and not specifically to be a golf ball stealth F-22'ish , but this is just a first prototype and one might see further refinements.

I am sure the first flight will be testing the over fundamentals of the basic design.

The engines will change to 5th gen AL-41F1 with ~ 17.5 T of thrust ( ~ 155kN ) but with round 3D nozzle , the current engine is 117 ~ 14.5T of thrust

I think the engine inlets have weapons bays behind them. the engines are closer together fed by s-shaped ducts from the inlets. and there should be a large bay between the inlets.

front looks very similar to the s-37 rather than the f-22.

I am slightly disappointed.
RCS will definitely be larger and it will loose in a confrontation with F-22 or F-35.
Atleast the Indian version the FGFA should be coated with Radar Absorbing materials and use composites heavily. Otherwise PAK-FA cannot be categorized as a stealth aircraft.

I think they have consciously traded off stealth with reduced manufacturing costs and aerodynamics.
The good news is
A squadron of PAK-FA can take on the entire Pakistan Air Force and come out trumps

I just hope the MCA project is a truly stealth plane and not a compromise

congrats sir, you have determined RCS just by looking at a grainy picture when it takes days of intense studies at dedicated facilities for scientists who do this job for a living !

Higher the emphasis on stealth and building aircraft with extreme emphasis on stealth and fine tolerance in building it higher will it cost you not just to build it but to maintain it on field condition without compromising its RCS.

The USAF lost the F-22 race not because it was not a fine stealth aircraft but because it was not affordable.

Bottom line is one needs an affordable all round performer( flying qualities,stealth,avionics,weapons ) and not a super stealth design.

The stealth coating should go in next.

Is the body composites or metal?

I can see the boxy sharp edges of the nosecone and the front of the aircraft. The rest of the plane has a streamlined appearence.

Wonder what the final finish will be like. Are there rivets visible? How smooth is the skin?
