^^When Indians take help from the Russians for their space program, as usual they give credit where it is due. Chinese take/steal/beg/borrow/buy whatever help they can get from the Russians, paint it red and call it a ding dong. Suddenly, China has a space program and is sending Takeoutnauts to space. Of course, a Russian space capsule is still a Russian space capsule no matter how long you call it a ding dong. Then again, it is enough to convince the kind of retards that make up the Chinese posters here, so I guess it was worth the effort.

shush. Don't be silly. The Chinese are talking about their military hardware here so the quality of discussion is normal.

It so funny that as long as you keep paying obeisance to them they are blowing trumpets louder than a flatulent elephant on a diet of beans. You call them out and all they can do is blather about child sex in India, Indian poverty etc.

wong, for a start, none of the East Asian countries (you really mean Japan) that you are aspiring to emulate make their own high end weapon systems, despite having a technological base that is way ahead of China. So, the facts remain, Chinese military industries will have to satisfy themselves making sh*t copies of Russian technology, which is itself a generation or two behind western technology (to which India enjoys ready access).

Chinese Fighters:
  • * MiG-9 Mikoyan-Gurevich Purchased from the Soviet Union, no longer in production
    * MiG-15/J-2 Shenyang/Mikoyan-Gurevich Purchased from the Soviet Union and licenced built in China, no longer in production
    * FC-1 (JF-17) Chengdu/PAC Multi-role light-weight fighter, jointly developed by Chengdu and PAC, Pakistan
    * J-5 Shenyang Chinese variant of Mig-17, no longer in production,
    * J-6 Shenyang Chinese variant of Mig-19, no longer in production
    * J-7 Chengdu Chinese variant of Mig-21, no longer in production
    * J-8 Shenyang Interceptor/Fighter, no longer in production
    * J-9 Chengdu Cancelled single-engine fighter project
    * J-10 Chengdu Multi-role medium-weight fighter (Lavi)
    * J-11 Shenyang Chinese variant of Su-27
    * J-12 Nanchang Cancelled light-weight single-engine fighter project
    * J-13 Shenyang Cancelled light-weight single-engine fighter project
    * J-15 Shenyang Chinese variant of a carrier-based Su-33 fighter in development
    * J-16 Shenyang Chinese variant of Su-30 Flanker

    Boom, suddenly, out-of-the-blue ..............
    * J-20 Chengdu 5th generation stealth fighter in development
    * J-31 Shenyang 5th generation stealth fighter in development
They have the shell of the Su-35 "designed" in-house. They should have the avionics, sensors, etc, etc (J-20/31 - not to talk of all the high tech companies they have and COTS!!!!) for such a plane. Outside of an engine they should have everything.

Yet they have a need to buy Su-35s from Russia!!!!!!!!!! In 2012+.

Just shows how big of a failure they are in air craft design.

My gut feel is that J-31 is pulled out of Chinese Musharraf because they were facing shortage of 117s engines for more j-20 prototypes. j-31 on the other hand is based on RD93 engines and china has more of them (bought 40 in 2010) so can build more prototypes.

Looks like they have pieces of technology stolen/copied from all over the world and are trying to put together a home made fighter with all theses things put together.

It will be some fighter IMHO

BEIJING (AFP) - A Chinese fighter jet crashed in a southern Chinese city Tuesday, sparking a fire that injured at least four people, reports said. The Jian-7 fighter plane belonging to the Chinese air force crashed Tuesday morning in Shantou city, Guangdong province, China Central Television said, citing local firefighters at the scene. The pilot reportedly ejected safely from the plane but Shantou city government said four people on the ground were injured and three were hospitalised. Photos from the scene posted on web portal Sina.com showed a dislodged wing of the jet next to a burning building as thick smoke billowed from the crash site.
The Jian-7 is a Chinese-built version of the Russian MiG-21, which was first introduced in the 1950s.

Mao appeared in the dreams of Hu and gave the design for J20 and J31. Actually , these designs were revealed to the commies by the commie angel Mao , who in turn , got the design from commie god, US $.

Now, i hope the design issue is settled as it came directly from the commie heavens.J20 & J31 , are not copies , they are a new revelation. Being heavenly , they face no ills and iff like the man made F35/F22 .

Better than China stealing.

Pakistan Begs and threatens (a trick learnt from China).

India buys - at exorbitant prices. (Cannot really beg and buy - if one is so poor then one begs and cannot buy.)

Copying and stealing is your way of putting it. Many others don't think this way.

E.g:
The J-10 represents an important milestone for China's industry - it is modern combat aircraft competitive in cardinal parameters with current EU production technology, and is clearly a unique indigenous design despite the comments of Western critics.

Ashi is two words of Chinese name "A Shi" combined in one word. It is pronounced in Cantonese.

Now , you have accepted that China has been begging the EU to lift arms embargo. :rotfl:

China is indebted to the world to allow it to sell its crap and tainted products so that the poor chinese don't get their pitchforks out and hunt the CPC .
When the world allows you to sell your crap , it's for maintaining peace in China.

I heard that the J-20 will be used for troop transport and has good high altitude take off capabilities carrying troops. Is that correct? It's certainly big enough and its agility is at least as good as any transport I have seen.

ashi, that's a bit weak isn't it. Look what wiki says
J-10
Despite initial interest shown in the fighter by some African and Arab states, the high accident rate blamed on faulty avionic systems, airframe design and one of the pitfalls of reverse engineering has led to these states backing out of any future purchase deals. So far, only the PAF has signed a contract making it the only export contract for the J-10. This is partly because of the low price tag and soft loans offered to Pakistan by China as well as the looming uncertainty of uninterrupted supply of F-16s from General Dynamics.

News articles have claimed that some of the Lavi's technology had been sold to China by the Israelis,[16] despite Israeli claims to the contrary.[17] In 2006, the Russian Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute (SibNIA) confirmed its participation in the J-10 program; SibNIA claimed to have only observed and instructed as "scientific guides", while its engineers also believed the J-10 was not only based on the Lavi, but also incorporated significant foreign technology and expertise.[18][not in citation given]
Judging by its safety record, looks like the Israelis and the Russians played a sick joke on you guys ...

07:41 GMT, May 11, 2010 8ak (www.8ak.in) | On April 13, in the port city of Tianjin about 130- KM away from Beijing, China showed off its 4th Generation J-10 aircraft to military attaches of about 50 countries it could possibly export to. 9 days later as per Strategy page reports it was running to cover up the 2nd crash of the J-10 fighter that became public in the last two years.

Posting excerpts of an article from indianchildabusers.com written by Bill Meethaadmi (That's my other name - I wrote that article)
November 05, 2012
A half-dozen years ago, China's aircraft industry had not delivered a single competitive, operational fighter of its own design. Today, two are in service—the low-cost JF-17 and the J-10, the latter apparently comparable to most current in-production fighters—and China is still delivering bargain-basement fighters evolved from the classic Mikoyan MiG-21. The country's industry has developed an indigenous version of the Su-27 (the Russians might call it something less creditable) and is in the process of doing the same with the carrier-based member of the family, the Su-33.
<snip>
Unlike the JF-17, neither the J-10 nor the J-10B has been demonstrated outside China. The J-10B's existence is known only via Internet leaks, but its existence makes the J-10 look like a sunset program. Also, the production of the J-10 still depends on Russian engine supplies.

China has ordered a total of 399 AL-31FN engines from Russia, according to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute data; its most recent order, for 123 engines, was placed last year. Of those, 276 had been delivered by 2011. Most of these power 220-plus J-10s, but others have been used in the Shenyang J-11B and J-15—the “bootleg” versions, respectively, of the Su-27 and Su-33. The indigenous WS-10A Taihang engine is under development and reported to be under test on J-10B and J-11B prototypes, but the 2011 order, covering four years of J-10 production at the rates seen so far, suggests that full production quantities of the WS-10A are not expected until 2015.

It's kinda hard to compete with FREE. That's the export market for J-10 class fighters. The US essentially gives away it retired F-16's to Iraq, Philippines, Pakistan and other countries (everybody but India). How many LCA exports?? Yeah, that's right. ZERO.

LOL really US gives them for free. Why did the pakis pay up 65-70 mil for a 30 year old US frigate without any SAM's or offensive missiles. Nothing is ever free but PN still wanted the OHP's despite their age. Its only when it became clear that no OHP's were coming their way they settled for the cheap and low quality F-22p's at 160-170 mil per pop under loan.
But thanks for settling the issue J-10 can only be sold free no one will pay for than kind of crap. The J-10 did compete in Myanmar against the Mig29M and lost badly. Like the uber low quality JF-17/J-7/8 it is meant for desperate forces like pakistan, north korea and sudan who cannot buy from any one else cause no one else will sell them anything.

Well India has exported as many LCAs as China has exported J-10s Congratulations China. :lol:

It is fun for all of us to play this game of juvenile rhetoric, but I don't see the quality of information or discussion being raised when the Chinese are questioned about their claims. Only lame excuses.

USA=free
LCA export=J-10 export

What are the intended roles of J 20 and J 31?

I am sure Indians would be glad to accept free J-10s from China. Every armed force in India now wants an air force and I heard that the Jharkhand Coast Lifeguards dept need some aircraft. How about free J-10's from China?
