China's "String of Pearls" strategy around India in tatters

As per the stats, this is the most read article by me. It was written when collective Dhoti shivering was taking place on String of Pearls.

^^^^^Thank you Saptarishi, Its been almost a decade we have been online togther.

Pradeep Kumar, the Defence Secretary and Secretary, Defence Production, has been moved to CVC. He has played a big role in moving up Arjun Tank, LCA and other indeginious projects.

He is one of the folks who resisted CISMOA and other US conditions. At the same time, he also was the team which over saw US equipment coming in.

In BR, when I said "competent people are taking care," (of Arjun, LCA inductions), he is one of the team I meant.

IMO, defence projects could have taken a wrong turn if he was not at helm. Who knows, there could have been better or worse, but, the fact is that he came at a critical juncture and he made things possible.

I really wish him all the best in his CVC career as he knows how to buck the pressure of nefarious elements.

Since the word is out. There is a new tactical missle called Prahar System. It will fill the gap between MBRLS (Smerch 90kms) and Prithvi - 150 kms. It can be fired in a salvo of 6. It has great accuracy. The launcher is capable of firing multiple missile systems.

I will work on this.

If you have been at places like J&K, Manipur and other high altitudes with Indian Army or para's etc (fortunately I have been) and eaten cooked food, you will want to thank the Bukharis (burner). They perform inefficiently, but, always serve hot food and steaming cup of tea.

There have been attempts to make the burner as efficient as possible. I saw this aspect in a DRDO PDF and thougt of thanking the bukhari. You will have an article on it in some time. Its already under works.

We might end up between 1000 to 1500 Arjun Tanks.

I was searching for my Arjun Mk1, 2, 3, 4 comments in armour thread. Can someone find it?

IMO, Tank Ex should be operationalised and sent to Ladhak and NE. This way, the width of the road and infrastructure will not require a huge change.

Can somone provide me with a rational reason to upgrade the T-72 rather than produce the Tank-EX?

Both mean the same, in the sense its an t-72 upgrade. Just that, the electronics will have commonality with Arjun and the chasis will have with T-72/T-90. Here the logic is Arjun systems are more advanced than the T-90.

Eurofighter is competing in Japanese F-X comptetion.
Reflecting the strong commitment to deepen the strategic partnership with Japan, the Supervisory Board of Eurofighter GmbH will for the first time hold a board meeting in Tokyo. Senior executives from Eurofighter partner companies (BAE Systems, Alenia Aeronautica, and Cassidian in Spain and Germany) are visiting Japan from 5 July to 8 July to discuss the status of the Eurofighter Typhoon F-X campaign and strategic next steps, and to hold talks with Ambassadors of the four consortium member-nations – the U.K., Germany, Italy and Spain.
If it manages that too, we might see this as an truly international project. However, it will be interesting to see Japanese joining Indians as a defence project partner. :D

Chacko-Nice initiative.

However, why are you watermarking MoD DPR released pics with your url across the centre?
Comes across as unprofessional.

Kapil,

You are right. The pic is watermarked because of a violation case we are experiencing with a certain website. You are aware of it.

Hi Chacko,
Agreed about your case but I still don't see why do you have to watermark your name on GoI copyright material which is free for public use.Put in something on the top that says frontierindia via MoD DPR or something.

Sure. That can be done. I will add this in the article. Next time, I will add DPR in the image itself. Suggestions are always welcome.

On pics,

It takes so much time, money and effort to gather these pictures, even if they are free to use. I will have a watermark, but, it will be hardly visible and will not effect the viewing pleasure. I am working on methods to do it.
