This has to be one of the best pics of the Mig-21s in the IAF. The unique thing is that it contains all versions of Mig-21s currently operational in the IAF.

The leftmost one is an FL, the one at the bottom left is a 21U trainer, the rightmost is a bison. Of the two in between, one is a Bis and one is an MF I'm guessing because their dorsal spines look very slightly different from each other (or maybe both are Bis, I don't know how to tell them apart. If someone does, please tell me how).

How do you tell them apart ? Apart from the spines, I can't find any difference.

What kind of fuel tanks are they carrying ?
I believe gauging by relative spine thickness that the lower middle one with the unpainted metal finish tanks is the M.
The M and the -bis are fairly similar even in terms of spine thickness. However, the Bison is also distinguished by its bubble canopy and fairing near the nose intake. From other angles, the chaff/flare units on the fuselage above the wings are alos visible.
THe FL has a one-piece forward hinged canopy you can see that there is no frame on the glass area. of course the spine is smaller and the vertical tail is different. you can also make out the missing fairing for the GSh-23 on the belly.

The tanks I believe are standard PTB 490 tanks for transonic/supersonic use.

Is it correct if I post pics like this or should I just provide a link to them instead?

The island is like 400% Misplaced.

They can easily park a few helos on the other side of the Island!
But more likely they'll park tractors and other deck equipment there, or use that as an open air restaurant.

Probably the worst SOP of a sniper i have seen. (assuming this picture is for PR only and these guys dont operate this way)- Another living human body would greatly hinder the accuracy of the shot not provide stability.

Its not good for any of the two (especially the guy in the front) if someone is shooting back.

This is standard SOP for a long range shot where the sniper is trying to shoot over an obstacle which does not allow a prone or kneeling shot. It gives better control than the sniper standing and shooting by himself.

If you practice shooting in the artillery position without support and are fairly accurate, and then get the support of a human - you will find that accuracy is much better with support.

@rkhanna... u dont have a rats idea abt sniper shooting. dont talk abt SOP of a sniper bla bla. this is a very common practice and snipers train this all the time.

Jamwal..with due respect, this is standard sniper drill.

about it not being good for someone shooting back..must remember this is a sniper drill...out of range of small arms fire or enemy observation. so not dangerous as it might seem.

there are situations in a snipers life when this drill comes into play... i could explain if people so desire !! ..both when shooting from inside buildings and in the open as well... there are too many armchair warriors on the forum !!
