Pakistani Tank captured at Longewalla (Gajasthan) During Indo-pak 1971 war by Lieutenant Gen. T.S Oberoi, General officer Commanding in chief, south command.
May anyone identify which tank it is. :?:

^^ Chinese Type 59 - Russian T-55 copies. These tanks have probably spent most their lives in India other than few brief years in Pakistan between 1965-1971.

Added the bold word - the hon'ble GoC didnt personally snare the tank as the sentence earlier indicated.

We had a similar example in our School (The Air Force School, Subroto Park). The turret aimed straight for the school Library building

Many thanks. I have now got me two beautiful calendars. This is way better than begging all my ex-IAF friends to try and wangle a calendar for me - everyone wants one.

Programme has progressed sufficiently. At the very least the Squadron at Sulur will be raised, though much more is bound to happen. Hence. :)

Who are these people? Never came across the IA in such shirt, but carrying a Carl Gustav & MG1B. Maroon beret? can't be BSF/SSB/CRPF, AFAIK. All Navy blue beret

Well IMTRAT soldiers do wear Maroon Berets but in this case I have doubt on them being from the IMTRAT.

See this picture of Mi-17V5 helo cockpit from Phalodi AFS...
http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a ... 2800_o.jpg
if you compare the picture on the MFD to the right with the view thru the cockpit/windshield, it looks transposed like a mirror... can any gurus comment on this?

So thermal camera gives a mirror image is'nt it confusing... How will the gunner pint the turret gun to fire, would he have to point the opposite directionor is that done by FLIR? Confusing onleee...

I think the FLIR is mounted on the right side of the heli . There is someone on the right of man with camera, not visible in the cockpit view but the FLIR has picked it up. Its giving a normal image.

Also Mi-17v5 wont be having nose guns to point at.

No its giving a mirror image, check the guy on the right in front of the helo, and then check the image on the left on the screen, they are both the same guy

NOPE.

It is not a mirror image...please check three things - (1) the position of the fence & body with respect to person in the image and one on the outside. (2) Position/stance of the leg of the person in the image and one on outside. (3) The person in the image is bang in front of the helicopter. The angle of sun rays falling on the center portion of windshield is producing a glare which is blocking forward view - the person in the image is standing in this zone and is not visible due to glare of the sun.

I was inside a Mi-17 in 1999 2000. Although my memory is not strong, but I can surely say that this cockpit is one hell of an upgrade. IIRC, that red button/trigger used to be on top of the stick, not facing towards the pilot.

What are those thing that the (lovely) lady is carrying?

Sidenote: Compare the above picture with the bearded Jeehardie military pics you get to see from the Porki side of the border. Shows how inclusive Indian military is, and how far we have come.
