Was it in the south indian edition? Because that is "New Indian Express" which is under different editor and management{/quote}

Yes. It is the Chennai edition. Prabhu Chawla is the editor.
Prabhu Chawla is slightly pro-Bjp. That is not dupatta's rag
It's an arms lobby thing for sure, with babuturds lending a generous helping hand

What fun.

We can closely watch what Modi does here and that will set the tenor of whether he gives in to the arms lobby before even fighting the battle or not.

Seriously, what fun!

The affidavit was reportedly filed before the apex court registry during the period of transition of power from the UPA to NDA, when the top law officers of the previous government quit late last month and the new ones took over on Monday.

Someone is seriously scared of the retired General and wants him out of the government, even if the retired General is not in the MoD.

^^^^^
The affidavit was by this government only. Here a twitter handle regarding this :

Every thing is in social media only .. so nobody can confirm the validity ...

^^^ Does not make sense considering that the minister is a lawyer himself. The possibility is that it was done by the earlier Babus after BJP took over and missed due to AJ's oversight. Looks like there are several such booby traps set up by UPA for the new Govt.

UPA must not have appointed the army chief in its dying days. It unecessarily has led to speculation about the motives.

The next army chief's tenure will be colored by his confrontation with MoS VKS.

Prabhu Chawla is whole-sole dienasty man. He has made lot of money from DLF deals through Vadra.

As you see suddenly on the panels of newschannels people like Akshay Dubey the journalists, it was prabhu chawla who suggested rahul gandhi to hire professional journalists instead of depending upon congi spokespersons.

When NaMo was elected as PM candidate for BJP, it was prabhu chawla crying "our indian tradition of respecting the old people is not being followed..." whenever he was pointed out about "sonia shutting kesari in toilet and having old kesari lifted thrown on the footpath..." he would get angry.

Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has finally broken his silence over the issue of next Army Chief Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, saying the NDA government fully defends his appointment. Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Jaitley dismissed the controversy over former Army Chief and MoS V K Singh’s statement accusing Dalbir Singh of protecting a unit that “kills innocents”.

The Defence Minister further said that such issues may not be raised as some domains must be kept outside politics. The statement from Jaitley came even as the Congress made attempts to corner the government over the issue, demanding the resignation of V K Singh.

Singh had on Tuesday attacked Army chief designate Dalbir Singh, accusing him of trying to protect a unit that “kills innocents,” and “does dacoity”.

In a direct attack on Lt Gen Dalbir Singh, who has incidentally been given a go-ahead by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley to take over as the Army Chief on July 31, Singh tweeted: “If unit kills innocents, does dacoity and then head of organization tries to protect them, should he not be blamed? Criminals should go free!!’

Singh is a Minister of State with Development of North Eastern Region (independent charge), External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs as his portfolios.

In its affidavit to the Supreme Court on Monday, the Ministry of Defence had defended Suhag’s promotion and described the disciplinary ban on him by Singh as Army chief as “illegal”, “extraneous” and “premeditated”. It also said the the disciplinary proceedings against Suhag between April and May 2012 by Singh was “without any basis or material on record”.

The NDA govt cannot be sure where the current lot of Babus will betray them. Best to change all officers in all ministrys.

Concerning VK Singhs case, its an ego issue.

Just because he is now a minister doesnt mean that the old dispensation (read, the entire lot of babus still in MOD) have forgiven him.

They want that this affidavit will remain unchanged before the SC, because if Dastane wins, Suhag is out, and Jaitley has already said that govt is firm on Suhag. So the affidavit must remain before the court, unchanged. And if affidavit remains unchanged, VKS loses, despite his huge victory in Ghaziabad, despite his becoming a minister, despite everything, the babu triumphs.
