Looks like a Armoured Carrier (a la SDRE MPV) developed on the Tatra chassis probably by an EME Base Wksp. And its RHD now, to satisfy jingoes here

The common perception of UAV are the tactical battlefield recce ones. These are MR MALE UAVs, length 8.6 meters, wingspan 16.61 meters. In contrast LCA length 13.2 meters wingspan 8.2 meters

Saar these are the biggest UAVs I have seen except for India's Rustam mock up displayed at Aero India 2009. Bigger than Nishant. Bigger also than BAe Herti displayed at Aero India and almost the size of Pakistan's national bird the Predator. Bigger also than the Hermes.

So its not "common perception" that UAVs are smaller. Most UAVs are actually much smaller.

Here is a group of US UAVs. This Heron drone is at least as big as the biggest)

You are proving my point here, the UAV is the picture is not the Heron, its the US Pioneer in the picture http://www.navy.mil/navydata/fact_displ ... =2100&ct=1 that is much much smaller than the Heron. I find an Elbit Skylark next to it, that HAL is also assembling for India.

That aside, you are correct that most MALE UAV, like Heron and Pakistan's national bird have similar dimensions http://www.af.mil/information/factsheet ... asp?id=122 Rustom too will be a MALE UAV

No, the pictures are hi-res IAI media handout. The 4th one is the even larger Heron TP not in Indian service. Original here http://www.iai.co.il/18900-37204-en/Bus ... aspx?btl=1
The last one is the IN one at Porbandar.

As I recall, they were initialled primarily by the area of operations, not simply Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc. As per wiki
Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) R / Romeo Force - Rajouri and Poonch
Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) D / Delta Force - Doda
Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) V / Victor Force - Anantnag, Pulwama and Badgam
Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) K / Kilo Force - Kupwara, Baramulla and Srinagar
Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) U / Uniform Force - Udhampur and Banihal

^^You know, my memory must be serious slipping (creeping old age perhaps) I have no idea how Romeo and Victor got mapped to Alpha and Charlie in my brain!

To make up for it, an interesting anecdote re. Delta Force. It seems some time after Delta Force(RR) was deployed, it had some good successes against some "mehmaans" and down the line some DDM rag picked up the name, put 2 and 2 together and proudly proclaimed that TFTA sooper-dooper US Delta Force was hunting terrorists in Kashmir. A similar but unrelated story also came out (this time also involving sooper dooper SAS) after 9/11 incidents.

Yeah yeah yeah they were on a sightseeing tour from what I heard or perhaps DDM was implying that just the hawa from the sooper dooper SAS would make our underfed SDRE SF 400% TFTA like our esteemed neighbours.

You refering to the episode about SAS being involved during PVNR and General Shankar Roy Choudhary tenure? If yes, it was complete failure with super-dooper TFTA SAS coming cropper.....and led to lot bad-blood between SAS and IA/SF (from SAS's perspective).

Make the upper image bright and you see a man with a light. That tunnel is over 3 meters high and more than 4 meters wide. Big enough for an Arjun tank.

Agree Shiv sir :); Google dada throws me this -

Unable to cut through Rohtang, BRO changes plans.
Border Road organization has proposed to reduce length and width of 8.8 kilometer long tunnel aimed at providing all weather road connectivity to forward areas along border. The decision of the BRO comes in the wake of logistic problems faced by engineering unit at snowbound north portal that lies towards tribal Lahual. BRO has planned to reduce tunnel width from proposed 12 meters to six meters, similarly height of tunnel will be cut short from 12 metres to nine metres. "Plans have been formulated to temporarily cut down the size of tunnel, which could be widened later"

See they have awarded the contract to a private firm. STRABAG is a leading construction entity based in Germany with offices worldwide. They are know to posses many high-tech gear for tunneling and reduction is size is not due to lacak of capability.

Me think the reduction in size is to make a headway quickly, until a truck can drive in/out with rubble and then extension of the tunnel size will be carried out in next phase.

Jagan, They will be moved here slowly (work load). gallery2 after a while gets uncontrollable. Especially. when you move up mysql versions and servers. Dosen't seem to be a long term strategy. Also eats up server resources.

I took up wordpress and photoQ plugin. Shifted to another domain. When i built frontierindia.net , the wordpress multisite was not exactly very friendly. for 3.0 version, multisite became possible. I could have done the same with frontierindia.net and converted to multisite, but, too risky. tried to do it in sub domain and sub directory. it began killing the server. So finally decided new domain, new server and multisite from the beginning.

The above sounds so simple, but, dam, its been a year of trials and errors to reach the "obvious" conclusion :p
