Under Kiyani’s watch, it seems a new opportunity is opening up for Pakistanis. Initially only the ISI would be able to avail of this opportunity though!

The money the family of suicide bombers gets paid in Pakistan is a lowly 25,000 USD for the ultimate sacrifice. Now I guess this other kind of “suicide” would become more popular – just jump in front of an American car, or get into a brawl with an American and get killed through his hand! If one is lucky, expect a million dollars plus US green cards falling out of the sky!

The two families just showed Pakistan a whole new way of making money and escaping Pakistan – just jump in front of American’s cars!

So Paki lurks, you earn 1 MILLION US DOLLARS & A GREEN CARD FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! Go for it!

Of course, you have to pay some “tax” to the authorities, but that is okay, right!

Soon instead of collecting how many people died from Dronacharya, we will be talking about how many Pakistanis died in accidents with American Consulate cars on any given day!

Davis’ release in accordance with law
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that Raymond Davis was released after the payment of blood money (diyat) in accordance with the Shariat Law of Pakistan.

Speaking during a PTV programme, she said it was the stance of the federal government that the Davis matter would be decided by the courts.

She said the families of Lahore shootout victims pardoned Davis after receiving blood money.

To a question, Dr Awan said that the Davis case was registered and heard in a Punjab court and Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah verified the case settlement through his statement.

By repeatedly rubbing it in the ugly face of the beards that 'this is your law, now why are you bitching?', the establishment is lighting its own funeral pyre - because some mullah will find some hadith that 'proves' that it is not as per Sharia (because Davis is kufr or some such convoluted logic) and nail the only alibi govt has got...

Funny thing is that now western media is reporting RD as CIA contractor. no reference to diplomatic immunity. Sharia is supreme.

pakis faujis also seems to have lost echendee. but what was done was as per their own laws which also had resulted in murder of a guv and a minister. How can they commit blasphemy by suggesting otherwise.

I am very sure that there was no diplomatic immunity and no evidence to that effect with amir khans else they would have ........

So the only logical way to release was islamic law and that was done. money paid , favors extratced etc are all moot point. RD remains a murderer and might get tried in unkil land just like DCH.

Having eaten soo many dossa from PC piggs have lost all intelligence( assuming they had one in the first place) and can't really see that it is a victory for them.

It needs only one near relative ( preferably wife or son or father or brother) to say that they were forced and that they had not been paid or that they want revenge. Mullahs would go hoarse baying for blooood. At least I heard one lady who claimed to be wife of one say so. It is a matter of time before it is played up. paki forums are livid with impotent rage and army is getting large amount of flake.

btw kufr had to be cattled, no blood money there. mullahs would later point out. the whole thing is anti jslamic but within their jslamic system, such is the quaid land.

Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani called Thursday's strike "unjustified and intolerable" and said it was a violation of human rights.

---
http://ispr.gov.pk/front/main.asp?o=t-p ... r_link1692
Rawalpindi - March 17, 2011:
Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, strongly condemns the Predator Strike carried out today in North Waziristan Agency resulting into loss of innocent lives. It is highly regrettable that a jirga of peaceful citizens including elders of the area was carelessly and callously targeted with complete disregard to human life. In complete violation of human rights, such acts of violence take us away from our objective of elimination of terrorism. It is imperative to understand that this critical objective can not be sacrificed fortemporarytactical gains. Security of people of Pakistan, in any case, stands above all.

Pakistan Army condoles with the families whose dear and near ones have been martyred in this senseless attack. Pakistan Army shares the grief of people of Waziristan. Troops on ground have been ordered to render all possible assistance to bereaved families.

Pakistan Army wishes to assure brave people of Waziristan that we shall do our best and utmost to protect their life, honour and dignity at all costs. Pakistan Army is fighting the terrorists and not its brethren in tribal areas.

Pakistan Army has already launched a protest in the strongest possible terms. It has been highlighted clearly that such aggression against people of Pakistan is unjustified and intolerable under any circumstances.

Two NATO trucks set ablaze in Pakistan
Pakistani militants have attacked two NATO supply vehicles transporting goods destined for US-led forces in Afghanistan and set them on fire in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The trucks, parked in a terminal near Karkhano market in western Peshawar, went up in flames on Thursday after a group of unidentified gunmen attacked them.

However, no one was killed in the attack, a Press TV correspondent reported.

In the WSJ, Imtiaz Gul writes that because R Davis has been released, his (Gul's) panties have now turned into an intolerable twisted mess:

Perfidious America
The Davis case has knocked Washington off the moral high ground in Pakistan
By IMTIAZ GUL
Islamabad
Alleged CIA operative Raymond Davis may have been allowed to leave Pakistan after the payment of blood money to the families of the two men he killed and another who died in the aftermath of a gunfight on Jan. 27. But the rift he caused in U.S.-Pakistan relations will not heal quickly.

Regardless of the circumstances that prompted Mr. Davis to kill two Pakistanis, the episode blew the lid off covert American operations in a country that was awash with rumors about the activities of the Central Intelligence Agency and its private contractors. For the majority of Pakistanis, particularly the religious-political right as well as hardliners within the security apparatus, the Davis case proved what they had long suspected: Americans are a rogue force within Pakistan.

Most Pakistanis already viewed the CIA with skepticism. The agency is extremely unpopular for its use of drone strikes against militants in Pakistan's Waziristan tribal lands bordering Afghanistan. Many Pakistanis also believe that both the CIA and its private contractors are trying to coerce Pakistan by sponsoring attacks on targets such as Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) installations or police stations.

This may seem far-fetched, but the fear has some basis in reality. In his book "Obama's Wars," Bob Woodward revealed the existence of a secret 3,000-strong army of paramilitary Afghan fighters created by the CIA to target Taliban and al Qaeda commanders inside Pakistan through "false flag attacks."

Mr. Davis's alleged links with Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater, further aggravated the situation. Blackwater is synonymous in Pakistani gossip with secret U.S. missions inside the country. Whispers of Blackwater involvement emerge, for instance, the moment Americans rent homes or office space in cities such as Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi.

Within days, the American insistence on Mr. Davis's diplomatic immunity and incessant demands for his release, including the one from U.S. President Barack Obama himself, polarized Pakistanis like never before. The majority demanded that Mr. Davis stand trial for murdering two Pakistanis in broad daylight.

As the government of President Asif Ali Zardari sought a way out without further enraging the public, the American administration only fueled the fire with its insistence that Mr. Davis enjoyed diplomatic immunity. Mr. Davis was not on a list of diplomatic and non-diplomatic staff that the U.S. Embassy submitted to the Pakistani Foreign Office on Jan. 25. A revised list provided a day after the incident did contain Mr. Davis's name.

The issue of whether to accept this post-facto immunity divided the government and eventually cost Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi his post. He was hamstrung by a consensus among the civilian and military bureaucracy, backed up by retired diplomatic stalwarts like Ambassadors Riaz Khokhar and Tariq Fatemi, that Mr. Davis was not eligible for immunity. This consensus made it impossible for Mr. Qureshi to grant the request of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The American bending of diplomatic rules caused even greater outrage and stiffened the resolve within parts of the government to prosecute Mr. Davis for activities inconsistent with his status, as well as murder. Not surprisingly, the issue took the blogosphere by storm, prompting prominent columnists, writers and academics to vent their views on the lack of transparency in the Pakistan-U.S. relationship and the Americans' ability to operate above the law.

Now that Mr. Davis is out of the country and a trial avoided, Washington and Islamabad face a formidable challenge: how to rehabilitate America in the eyes of Pakistanis. :rotfl: The insistence on diplomatic immunity represented a clear case of selective morality on the part of the Obama administration. A state that claims to champion the rule of law and accuses others of subverting international conventions tried to invoke the Vienna Convention on behalf of a mercenary.

Even moderate politicians like Fakhar Imam, a former president of the national legislature, are calling for a revision of the bilateral ties. "It has been a relationship of diminishing returns, geared towards the U.S. interests only," Mr. Imam said during a private U.S.-Pakistan consultation in Islamabad. He went on to recall the human and material losses that Pakistan has endured as a member of the anti-terror coalition. What is worse, says Mr. Imam, "we are being paid back with accusations, mistrust and intimidation."

For years, American officials heaped scorn on Pakistan, accusing it of double dealing in the war against terrorism. They used a string of leaks planted in the U.S. media to highlight their frustration and mistrust of Islamabad, particularly the ISI. Now the U.S. has been caught in its own double dealing and has lost the moral high ground. It will have to abandon its heavy-handed approach in Pakistan if it wants to make the partnership work.

Mr. Gul heads the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Islamabad, and is the author of "The Most Dangerous Place" (Viking, 2010).

“I strongly condemn this drone attack. A tribal jirga (council) was targeted in which several tribal elders and tribal policemen were martyred,”said Syed Masood Kausar, the federal representative of northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

“We want to make it clear that the government of Pakistan and its people will not tolerate such attacks. These attacks are against the sovereignty of Pakistan,” the statement added. :rotfl:

According to some sources, today's drone strike was on a jirga held by ISI-stooge Hafiz Gul Bahadur and an unnamed key Haqqani leader. It is not clear whether they got Bahadur, but if they did it would be a big hit. Which Haqqani guy was in attendance is also to be seen, but it's unlikely to be a top guy. Some ISI men some "tribal elders" were in attendance. The ISI men killed is probably why Kayani did a chakka dance.

Pakistanis today are extremists because of Islamic invaders
Foreign Muslim rulers were so contemptuous of Muslims from the lower castes that Ziauddin Burni, known for his Tareekh Feroz Shahi, writes: “The teachers should not put the jewels of knowledge in the throats of dogs, i.e. lowly, meaning low caste people. Vendors and low caste (Muslim) people should be instructed about prayers, fasting, pilgrimage and charity besides teaching them a few parts of the Quran. ...Lowly people should not be educated because it makes them evil. Low caste people, as the working class, are prone to commit evil.” Of course, Burni wanted to keep the converted Muslims uneducated so they would not be able to compete for state jobs against migrant Muslims. This core ideology remained in practice throughout the Muslim period resulting in the absence of an educated Muslim urban class in Punjab and Sindh till 1947.
<snip>
The low caste converted Muslims that made up most of the population of Punjab and Sindh readily embraced the core ideology of the Muslim ruling elite because they were not educated enough to articulate their own. As a matter of fact, like most new converts, they became zealots of this ideology to prove their Muslim credentials.

Does he really believe that Sindhis are as big zealots as Pakjabis?

More on the Clintonian family penchant of the I smoked but did not inhale variety in the “Raymond Davis” case.

It is a highly a highly irresponsible act for the US to junk treaties like the Vienna Conventions governing diplomats and consular officials built over the years and in effect grant Islamic Shariah Law primacy over this aspect of international relations:
Interview
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Cairo, Egypt
March 16, 2011

QUESTION: Okay, we’ll jump right into it. Again, I’ll try not to take up too much of your time. Before I ask about Egypt, I’m obliged to ask you about one other thing – Raymond Davis. Can you explain why, in your view, it was a wise idea in the long term to pay blood money for Davis’s release?

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, first of all, the United States did not pay any compensation. The families of the victims of the incident on January 27th decided to pardon Mr. Davis. And we are very grateful for their decision. And we are very grateful to the people and Government of Pakistan, who have a very strong relationship with us that we are committed to strengthening.

QUESTION: According to wire reports out of Pakistan, the law minister of the Punjab Province, which is where this took place, says the blood money was paid. Is he mistaken?

SECRETARY CLINTON: Well, you’ll have to ask him what he means by that.

QUESTION: And a lawyer involved in the case said it was 2.34 million. There is no money that came from anywhere?

SECRETARY CLINTON: The United States did not pay any compensation.

QUESTION: Did someone else, to your knowledge?

SECRETARY CLINTON: You will have to ask whoever you are interested in asking about that.

QUESTION: You’re not going to talk about it?

SECRETARY CLINTON: I have nothing to answer to that.

This clearly indicates that

ISI has got away with the 26/11 case , and no charges would be filed against them
US would buffer any attempts by India to nail ISI,
US would force MMS govt to speak to TSP on TSP' terms

Obamba had to agree to all this because he needs to ensure that there is smooth withdrawal from AFG and Talib ( ISI) do not give much trouble as 2012 is at stake

ISI has played a brilliant master stroke

US Secretary of State Clinton conjures up her version of her husband Bill Clinton’s famous defence that while he smoked marijuana he did not inhale in the case of the release of the “US Diplomat” “Raymond Davis” for gunning down two citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Lahore.

Hillary Clinton’s version seems to be that while the US genuflected towards the primacy of Islamic Shariah Law principle of Diyat and Qisas aka “Blood Money” payouts they did not pay the “Blood Money” :

More on the Clintonian family penchant of the I smoked but did not inhale variety in the “Raymond Davis” case.

It is a highly a highly irresponsible act for the US to junk treaties like the Vienna Conventions governing diplomats and consular officials built over the years and in effect grant Islamic Shariah Law primacy over this aspect of international relations:

Heavens to Murgatroyd. My views are being used by a Pakistani website. Is that something to talk about or does one lapse into embarrassed silence?

Meanwhile a welter of conflicting stories on who is bearing the cost of pandering to Islamic Shariah Law rather than international treaties such as the Vienna Conventions in the case of the release of “US Diplomat” “Raymond Davis” in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Dawn reports Saudi Arabia put up the cash:

`Blood money was paid by S. Arabia`

Online reports Saudi Arabia has denied having put up the cash:

’Saudia Arabia has no role in Raymond’s release’

CNN indicates that irrespective of who put up the cash, the US will reimburse:

Official: U.S. government to pick up payment to Pakistani families
