this team doesn't deserve our support.
ahem... sir, could you please come back to the thread and explain to us lesser beings how did this turn around?
a) dawood bhai called "Tawny" and told him the satta is against them, but he has bet for them, so they should win

They are Ummah birathers.
Actually a lot of the guys active on Banglacricket etc are UK based folks who are practically Pakis and out of touch with reality. I would think actual Bangla based folks would be more balanced.
Singha wrote:Zak slipped in a ripper during post match intview - "Ashwin played a superb match" . perhaps a sign that ashwin will play more matches...
What do you mean? He's more likely to play than Harbhajan now.
And Raina deserves another chance. Axe Pathan for the Australia match.
The more I see Munaf these days, the more i get nauseated. That guy ain't fit to play gully kirket. Australians will chew him up and leave him for dead. I prefer a maverick Sreesanth over him.
If Dhoni had plans for using SS in this WC then he should have played at least one more match in the league stage. Now even if we play SS it will be tremendous pressure on him to perform in a knockout match. A failure there would unnecessarily curtail another career.
^^ Dhoni wouldn't mind SS's career getting curtailed in the first place - with SS's history of run ins with Dhoni. Its an open secret that Dhoni hates him.
Come to think of it, SS has the X factor and more importantly a desire to do well. Nehra and Munaf are GUBO specialists and are in the team because other pacers are injured or even worse than them.
Yes.. pathan and munna can be easily replaced by raina and pranthan, and even if they fail, they would not impact as terrible as the replaced. Again, pathan is only a wildest gamble. This is where, don keeps thinking he is a nice trump to keep (he fits the unorthodox kaptaans mind perfectly).
Again, bhaji can be sitting for a match as well, if it needs be. But, bhaji is a terrific player.. can't really risk, and has not really proven to be like pathan or munna levels, where they strike once, and sleep for next 10 matches.
We must be happy with bhojraj and kohli this WC. They have done tremendous job. Hope that raina guy realizes that he needs to be little careful in his shots.
Pranthan and Zhak gives us a good pisskology value as well.
Like Gavaskar mentioned in the post match talk since we have a max of only 3 matches left there is no need to have reserve pacemen in the team. We have 4 pacemen in Zak, Munna, Pranthan and Nehra. Claim and injury to one of them and get Prgyan Ojha as replacement. Will give us a much needed left arm spinner.
^^all this talk of kaptaan's favourites and curtailing careers...seems a return to an earlier era. Most of the 2000's was building the team and removal of the regional biases.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting reignited the walking debate at the World Cup after admitting he stood his ground despite knowing he had been caught behind in his team's defeat to Pakistan.
Ponting admitted he knew he had edged the ball. "There were no doubts about the nick, I knew I hit it, but as always I wait for the umpire to give me out. That's the way I've always played the game," he said.
Some understanding between the paqi paqis and white paqis- Mr Intergrity was lucky in one of the suspected match phixing matches down under- made runs and came to form against them.Saved his a*se in the team.
Australia are a very strong side and very expressive on the field. But it's about how we prepare for the game to achieve what we want.
"In the process, we hope to give our best."
Bring back pranthan to counter them.
I sdre >10 paqis

Pliss to keep doing this till we win the final.

Regarding the comparison between Gawd and Mr.Integrity.
Gawd is God, exactly for those reasons, no? Simplifying the range of emotions we are a) happy b)proud of our country and players when they win. The focus here is win. And for some people like Mr.Integrity winning becomes the sole reason for existence. Another point of view is that we become happy and proud when our team or its players does something good. Sorry to get the purusharthas in here, but artha and kama makes more sense when earned under Dharma.
Some of us oldies might remember what Walsh once did, for people who do not know it is a good opportunity to practice Bing or Google .
With the game slipping away from the Indians with every run, Dhoni tossed the ball to Harbhajan Singh, who has not been in the best of form in recent times. Against the run of play, Harbhajan bowled 6 slow and flighted deliveries to Sarwan which resulted in a maiden. It was an over which changed the game in many ways. It was an over that gave India the Harbhajan of the old. He didn't pick up a wicket in that over, he didn't even beat the batsman. But after a long time, Harbhajan rediscovered his flight. Harbhajan Singh is a different bowler when he bowls slow and tosses it up.
Sensing a shift in momentum towards the home side, Dhoni went back to his prime bowler - Zaheer Khan.
But India have learnt a harsh lesson in this World Cup - that a game is not won until it actually is. They were keen not to repeat their mistakes and the next few overs were ample proof for that. Wickets tumbled regularly and the match was won.
It was also a day when Dhoni found his midas touch again. Under severe criticism for giving the final over to Nehra in the previous game against South Africa, the skipper's magic worked again, much to the joy and relief of the Indian fans. He opened with Ashwin and the spinner bowled a miserly opening spell picking up a wicket in the process
Zaheer Khan confirmed at the post match interview that it was a deliberate ploy to hold back the pacers for the middle overs. He spoke about the importance of successfully defending a modest total before going into the knock outs. There were big doubts about their ability to defend totals after the failures against England and South Africa. A proper plan and a small passage of play has put all those doubts to rest.
all you naysayers of MSD cower and shiver behind your dhotis

Insufficient pitch information lead me to those conclusions. As Tony Cozier mentioned WI cricketers come into team with a lot of spirit but after joining team become suicidal. Ofcourse they are not suicidal but the entire team plays according to a plan.
Now that will be a nice game. India vs Australia in a knockout. If we want to win this world cup we should do it in style and not just get their by luck.
That is the reason I cherish T-20 WC 07 win. Defeating pukes twice (once in group and then in final when it mattered most) and also defeating SA, England, Australia before that. It just makes one feels you truly deserve that.

Very true
This time it will most probably be Aus in QF, Pak in SF and SA in the Final...cant ask for better..
Watched the match at Chepauk after a long time (the infamous Paki test in 1999). Singha is correct with his observation. The Chennai crowd has changed and is different from the old Madras crowd. There were a lot of people with India Tshirt, India flag painted on their face, singing the national anthem. Though there were a few claps for good fielding or wickets, this is not very different from what we get in Mumbai/Bangalore. The crowd boed when Dhoni was going slow in his batting and his stupid running. Went wild when we got a wicket or a four was hit or when Sachin turned or picked up a ball or ripped a throw in.
Are you talking about keeping or kaptaning? We had a pretty good nod on Viru to take over. If it is keeping, then that is a good #1 risk India has taken.
of course they did. Raina was cheered as well like a local boy.
on a different note, we were struggling rotate strike with 4 fielders in the ring whilst they were able to take singles at will even during powerplays. Was really miffed to find mahdi fielding at cover and backward point for a major time. Suddenly, Msd got kohli, raina, yousuf and yuvi in the ring, runs began to dry up leading uoto smith's wicket. Till then msd was chasing the game by moving fielders to locations where the previous ball was hit.
Wi then self destructed. Lot of people in the crowd near me were murmuring that with this kind of fielding, we will struggle against better team.
On the batting front, we took 1when there was an easy 2 for the talking. The crowds were shouting ada pavi. To be fair, the conditions were much cooler when wi was batting and yuvi's stomach cramps was not helping either.
Another point is that we r just unable to raise the rr without getting out. Msd is unable to score at run a ball these days and expecting him to up the ante is too much. No body is calling the emperor n****. From being his fan, I am beginning to dislike him.
MSDs stroke making technique and footwork is quite flawed. he flails at balls but instead of smooth clean running drives like SRT/VS/YS, the balls if you notice ends up thudding into the ground nearby, losing most of its energy and not gaining much. he ends up facing the bowler after a wild horizontal bat swipe. compare to Yuvi's side on, high backlift and high follow through stroke making - the ball leaves the bat like a shell going from a 155mm gun.
he survives because he comes in to bat at #6 well after the much better batsmen ahead have taken the shine off the ball and the top 1 & 2 bowlers of oppn are not bowling.
let him come in @ #3 and face dale steyn or brett lee and see how he fares. he wont last long.
imo he should engage a batting coach or retired cricketer willing to help and try to work out the flaws in his batting technique rather than pretending his agricultural style is some new gen-next innovation and the way forward.
you can accelerate a tata truck to Mach1 by welding some 10 F119 engines to it.
or do it the right way and the smooth way and just use a rafale with 2 x m88.
And on the behavior lessons for SS, dhoni should delegate to experts rather him calling the shots. This is pure politics. As a captain he can definitely control SS, and tell him to do his job and show the aggression where he should and on what objects.
It is also his responsibility to utilize SS to max extent possible, and nurture and correct him. His style of kaptaanship will kill raina, ss, even munna for that matter. Only survivors would be those who are already established.
There are other good batsmen as well, but the way they were nurtured was wrong (example rohit sharma). That guy had some good techniques.
Boss, SS has been offered a lot of chances under Dhoni. But honestly, he himself doesn't realizes that fine line of being menace to opposition vs being same to TI. Also, as long as India takes yusuf gamble, Raina will sit out.
And I don't understand why are you concerned about munna ? How has dhoni bothered him ? What I am wondering is where is RP Singh ?
Rohit Sharma failed many a times. He had been given a lot of chances.
