Yes. Fixate on the t-shirt. Why bother with the minor fact that we actually have articulate confident people doing a decent job (going by that village interaction) while risking life and limb. Let's look at his t-shirt instead. I take it you believe fear can only be induced into Imran by the power of your incendiary posting skills on the interwebz?

CoBRA is part of CRPF. if you see extremely fit guys with modern gear and informal clothing, they belong to the CoBRA.

some links for background reading meant for lurkers.

I think the correspondent is in a habit of asking too many 'leading' questions - which he shouldnt..

Acharya ji

What if he works for the Isloo or whoever ? And I find references to the journalists religion a bit demeaning and something you expect from a deaf and dumb forum member.

The point to be noted is that Al-Jazeera is a channel targeted towards a Muslim audience so as it is they would not potray India as being a very just nation because of their Isamistisque agenda.

And I am happy that they were allowed to roam free and film whatever they fancied. And to be honest they showed some truth there, which we might not be comfortable with, but thats what it is.

No, I dont think Indians are stupid but then we dont need to act like our goofy neighbours and see ISI behind every tree and neither should we curtail the freedom of the press, whether Indian or foreign.

Since this is a photo thread this is my last post on this issue.

rahul

not question it with the COBRA

at one point a normal CRPF guys seems to have the Tavor as he gets into the MRAP

If it is Tavor then it means all the SF\Marcos etc have already fully kitted out

if it is some variation then interesting

Interstingly the plainclothesmen were holding microtavors which I have not seen even with Para SF and Marcos. As per some news reports SG/SFF had reported some serious problems with microtavor/zittara a few years back.

Surya, that tavor could be the OFB version - Zittara- as well since CRPF has ordered it sometime back. I don't think the SF requirements are filled out yet. As Gaur pointed, the ofb ones had some issues and IIRC SF decided to get theirs from IMI itself instead of waiting.

As per Wikiguru the CRPF ordered 12,000 Micro Tavors (X-95) and it received the first shipment in early 2011.

just saw the other night a group of 5 arjuns on trucks-trailors...around 4:00 am in the morning while returning from ashok vihar towards lajpat nagar. The thing is a beast compared to the ones you see in these photos.

In the thrid pic (the one with 2 men in Ghilli suits), are they the desert commandos of Rajasthan? I remember a programme on Times Now by Maroof Raza profiling this team as one of India's special forces and he called them "desert commandos of Rajasthan" who operate in 4-man teams out of an open-top jeep. I think they are a part of the para special forces, but I may be wrong. Can someone confirm one way or the other.

One more question: are they wearing the patka helmets or just normal patkas? It looks very much like a normal patka rather than a patka helmet which looks different

Yes even I saw that show. The personnel shown in that were very similar to these.
Those look like bandanas rather than patla helmets.

Mayuresh,
You are talking about 10 Para SF. IIRC they are also called desert fox. And yeah, the pic seems to be of them but one cannot say for sure.

I have noticed many posts where, physique has been mentioned. Where the skinny NSG personnel are pointed out. I know very well the members who did point this out have well wishes for our men and women of armed forces but, before making such comments, remember that person made it, he/she made it through the course and is now the best among best.

How many of us can do 50 push ups non-stop of go without food for 3 days straight, without sleep, sitting in same position? We cannot even sit in one place without moving for more than 2 minutes.

Mind over matter people, that skinny guy can control his/her mind and just keep going. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks

Gill

Just to add to Deepan Gill's point. I have had the privilege of meeting / seeing some of our SF-qualified people. My completely unscientific, too-small-to-be-statistically-significant sample suggests that quite a significant proportion of our SF-qualified people are not big-built, brawny, or bulging with rippling muscles. (There are a few like that, but from what I've see a relatively small proportion.) Most of them are wiry rather than heavily-muscled, light on their feet, clearly capable of moving extremely fast, and often on the quiet (but watchful) side, rather than swaggering.

In sporting terms, they look more like marathon runners than like shot-putters, if that makes sense.

But I wouldn't mess with them.
