Stop harassing Christians, Tamil bishops tell government
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/indi ... 188959.cms
In a statement issued here, AM Chinnappa, archbishop of Madras-Mylapore and president of TNBC, said: "It is open secret that the central government is taking these actions against the Diocese of Tuticorin and other Christian NGOs, in the wake of the debate and dispute on the Kudankulam nuclear power project."
The Christian Machinery (intended) business of aggressive conversion in India is a clear and present danger to the diversity of the Indian fabric. If they squeal, it surely means that it hurts the business RoI somewhere.

Bishops charge Centre with denigrating Christian community
Refuting allegations that the Tuticorin Diocesan Association is funding and instigating the agitation against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, the Tamil Nadu Bishops' Council on Thursday accused the Union government of denigrating the Christian community by blocking the registration number given under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act to the Diocesan Association and freezing its bank accounts. “It is highly condemnable that the government is unleashing repressive measures. We are pained by the government's action,” said A.M. Chinnappa, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore and President of Tamil Nadu Bishops' Council.

Rev. Yvon Ambrose said that Bishops had a moral responsibility to stand by the people at the time of crisis and suffering. “The people on their own selected the Church premises in Idinthakarai to launch their protest. They have the right to choose it. It is wrong to assume that we can convince them to give up their protest.”

Playing safe on terror
March 07, 2012

The assembly poll verdict has underscored the importance of regional political parties in our federal polity. After the poor electoral show by the Congress in UP, Punjab and Goa, state chief ministers will like to test the Manmohan Singh government. The National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) will probably be the first target.

Set up by an executive office memorandum on February 3 this year, the counter-terrorism body has become the bone of contention between home minister P Chidambaram and state chief ministers belonging to opposition parties at the Centre, with the latter feeling that the NCTC encroaches on their law and order jurisdiction. Chidambaram was virtually asked by the prime minister last month to address their concerns after Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik first raised the red flag over foisting the NCTC on states without consulting the stake-holders. With powerful CMs like Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, J Jayalalithaa and Parkash Singh Badal jumping on the anti-NCTC bandwagon, Patnaik wants the PM to call a meeting of CMs to resolve the issue.

Forced to fend for himself despite the NCTC being cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), Chidambaram is peeved. The new body naturally flows out of amendments to the 2008 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act created after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The 2008 amendments were personally drafted by Chidambaram in consultation with the leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley. :(( The NCTC was proposed as part of the new security architecture on December 23, 2009 and the proposal put up before the CCS in April 2010. Yet it took the CCS nearly two years to clear the NCTC on January 12, 2012.

The Manmohan Singh government should take a deep breath before sitting down to give an all systems go to the NCTC. The reasons are manifold. First, there is disquiet among senior UPA ministers and Congressmen over the NCTC. A Cabinet minister argued that the body would make the home minister the most powerful person in the government. Second, given its nature, structure, objectives and powers, the NCTC will be still-born without the cooperation of the state governments. Can any NCTC team enter Azamgarh or Gorakhpur without the help or knowledge of local police? There would be riots.

Third, there is discomfort within the Intelligence Bureau (IB), as the NCTC could expose the premier agency to courts if equations go awry between the investigators and the local police in case there’s a shoot-out or an unfortunate custodial death. The Batla House encounter on September 19, 2008, against Indian Mujahideen terrorists happened on the basis of IB inputs. Had the NCTC been in existence at that point, the NCTC or IB would have been involved in the shoot-out with the Delhi Police coming into the picture much later, as envisaged in the NCTC law. The thought of being dragged to the court is enough to send shivers down the spine of the IB investigators.

Finally, the public record of even the American NCTC is nothing to write home about. It failed to detect the Nigerian ‘underwear bomber’ Umer Farouk Abdul Mutallab when he boarded the US-bound flight from Amsterdam on December 25, 2009. All this is not to say that the government should not have a cogent and prompt response to tackle terrorist threats. But there is a need for more due diligence on the NCTC. Better to have an institution with firm legal foundations than a half-baked one with the potential of serious political mischief.

Another incident in MP
Sand mafia fire on police in MP

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/a ... epage=true
Barely two days after a young IPS officer was killed by the mining mafia in Madhya Pradesh, a police team was on Saturday fired upon by some men suspected to be involved in illegal sand mining in Panna district.

Police said that according to preliminary reports the team escaped unhurt.

The firing took place when the team led by Sub Divisional Officer of Police J S Markam went to Ajaygarh, 40 km from here, Saturday afternoon after it received reports of illegal sand mining in that area, it said.

The miners at the spot opened fire, police said, adding that additional police reinforcements were rushed from the district headquarters.

In a horrific incident that has sparked outrage, 30-year-old IPS officer Narendra Kumar Singh was crushed under a tractor driven by a member allegedly belonging to the mining mafia on Thursday while he was trying to stop the vehicle carrying illegally quarried stones in Morena district in MP.

Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Ajay Singh charged the BJP government in the state with giving protection to mining and liquor mafia.

“Illegal mining is at its peak in many districts in Madhya Pradesh at present. There is no doubt that illegal mining and liquor mafia cannot flourish without the protection of the state government,” said Mr. Singh, a Congress leader, after visiting the spot where Kumar was crushed to death.

In another incident on the day when Kumar was killed, another young IPS officer and his team were attacked allegedly by liquor barons, including supporters of former BJP MLA Narendra Singh, in Bhind district when he tried to check illegal sale of liquor.

The incident occurred when some shops located on the Etawah and Lahar Road were selling liquor illegally despite the administration declaring a ‘dry day’ on the occasion of Holi, police said.

When this was brought to the notice of IPS officer Jaidevan, posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Bhind, he immediately rushed to the spot along with the police force and questioned them, police sources said.

However, members belonging to the liquor mafia attacked them with lathis and by pelting stones forcing police to retreat from the spot, police said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.

Gun culture spreads in India
Indians own about 40 million guns, second only to the U.S. Rising incomes, along with crime and fear of terrorist attacks, have fueled firearms purchases.

Reporting from Chandigarh, India— Vikramjit Singh stands in the parking lot of a posh club in Chandigarh discussing one of his favorite subjects: guns. He owns 10 or so; he can't remember exactly. They may come in handy if the old family feud resurfaces. In a Hatfield-versus-McCoy saga that haunts the 25-year-old student, his grandfather was shot to death here in the western state of Punjab and his father imprisoned for a retaliatory murder. Although the two clans signed a truce a few years back, Singh isn't taking any chances."Having a gun 24/7 is a necessity," he says. "You don't know if their relatives will crop up again. And an expensive weapon is a status symbol. You can't flash just any old gun around.Guns are in the blood, he says beneath a painting of a man toting a shotgun."This forgiveness-peace idea will only make Pakistanis think we're soft targets," he says."All that Gandhi stuff is for tourists," adds his father, Raja K.S. Sidhu. "They should go off to Varanasi, see the holy cows."
Despite tough controls on weapons, Indians own about 40 million guns, the second-highest number in the world. Of those, 85% are unregistered Saturday-night specials involved in 90% of firearm homicides. That said, there are only 3 guns for every 100 people in India, compared with 89 guns per 100 Americans, the world leaders, according to gunpolicy.org.Guns boost an individual's confidence," says a video by the group, titled "Guns For Peace." "Guns are force equalizers."Rakshit Sharma, the group's secretary-general, says the Mumbai attack would have been cut short if Taj MahalHead-turners include the Russian-made 7.62 Tokarev pistol and its Chinese knockoff selling for as much as $12,000 and the American Colt .45 pistol at $6,000 to $8,000, in addition to Italian-made weapons. Domestic guns are distinctly declasse, seen as low-quality and unreliable, which aficionados say is a legacy of India's protected markets and focus on nonviolence."People are richer, gain access to expensive weapons, which enhances their image," says Sidhu, the government worker. "Despite regulations, you can't stop a Punjabi from loving guns." hotel guests had been carrying firearms. "The government
has a very antiarms view," he says

The title seems to be misleading and I feel the article is meant to create fear. What the police is doing is essentially keeping a tab on the new wave of migrant labour coming into Tamil Nadu. In addition I understand the police is also ensuring that land lords have some clue on who their tenants are. In a recent bank robbery case the police had to go all the way to West Bengal and bring back the robbers.

Kerala and Tamil Nadu is witnessing a large wave of migrant labour coming in. Their languages are different, their original place of residence is also pretty much unknown. And they are getting involved in crime. The only way the state police can make sure their area is clean is by keeping a tab on these folks. If they do some mischief and then run away to their home state, chances of nabbing them are pretty nil. And from what I have seen from media, law and order or policing in the home states of these migrant labourers are certainly not the very best in the country. Fat chance that they would clean up their own home grounds.

It is disappointing that a moderator can post such comments and get away with it. I would get a warning if I present similar logic for "keeping a tab" on Muslims. How sad.

its odd that Indian Forensic labs are unable to come to conclusions in many bomb cases:Varanasi, Mumbai, now Delhi.

And often they come up with contradictory conclusions.

Either their techniques are wrong and need updating or something is very wrong.

Where did he say "keeping a tab on Muslims"? All he said was keeping a tab on "migrant labour". Clearly some people read too much than what is needed.

Hindus in Madhyakolra, Howrah persecuted by Islamists
Unlawful Bangladeshi Muslims led the onslaught

The cudgel of responsibility to persecute Hindus in the Indian state of Bengal is not with the indigenous Islamists (only) any more; Bangladeshi Muslims (entering India sneakily and successful to have political support too), in throngs, are partaking in the same job these days and the harrowing incident in village: Madhyakolra, P.S. Domjur, District: Howrah brings this perilous reality forth. The incident took place on March 4, 2012 and the Hindu village is yet to recover from that trauma. People of Dakshinkolra, adjoining village, dominated by unlawful Bangladeshi Muslims in particular, led the onslaught and the subsequent looting.

The trouble erupted at 10 am on the fateful day owing to the bid of a few Islamists to fill up a pond (for a real estate project) in the Hindu village and fervent protests of Hindus against the same outright. These Islamists were Mohsin Mufti, Sheikh Khokon Dewan, Atiyar Mallik and Nurududdin Sardar. When on earth they were prevented from going on with the same project, the four Islamists went back to their own bastions and soon no less than 600 Islamists, carrying lethal weapons and under the auspices of (unlawful) Bangladeshi Muslims, pounced on unarmed Hindus. Not the Hindu village was vandalized (completely) only, Hindu women were also molested, manhandled and thrashed in large numbers.

Kolra Maitree Sangha, local club known for its welfare works in the vicinity, was robbed (at first) and (then) destroyed wantonly. Along with cash worth Rs. 25, 000 , several other belongings of the club were simply plundered. Members (Hindu youths) of the club were also persecuted mercilessly. All these prove that the attack was set before and Islamists were waiting for the opportune moment only.

What was the police and administration doing then? This question is fairly obvious as the problem is not new.

It is worthwhile to mention (in this context), Hindus, apprehending such dangers, submitted a letter to the Dolra No. 2 village Panchayat, Domjur, Howrah on February 29, 2012. The Panchayat and administration, through the letter, was requested earnestly to call the aforementioned real estate project (illicit in every sense of the term) of Mohsin Mufti a halt. And this was done since the fierce quarrel between Hindus and Muslims on February 25, 2012 regarding the same matter, had every sign of a sinister development.

Was the administration in a deep slumber? Perhaps not; the latter developments fail to support any such notion. Here are the reasons behind the same.

An FIR , as regards the attacks on Hindus, was lodged at P.S. Domjur and it did name a few notorious Islamists in the neighborhood (witnessed to participate in the attack). They were Mohsin Mufti, Sheikh Khokon Dewan, Atiyar Mallik, Nurududdin Sardar, Ansar Mollah, Nur Alam, Sabir Mollah, Firoz Mollah, Alfaz Dewan, Minaz Dewan, Mofijul Sheikh. Sections 154, 326, 307 and 379 were imposed on them.

But, strange enough, in spite of presence of non-bailable sections each and every Islamist has been bailed out and is roaming freely. What went wrong then? The police have got to answer.

There is another question as well. How could unlawful Bangladeshi Muslims settle there? In accordance with villagers, this colony was set up five years ago and has been expanding fast.

The entire incident, as per villagers of Madhyakolra, is a part of Islamic expansion.

Need more minorities in police: West Bengal Guv

http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-new ... 24971.aspx
West Bengal Governor MK Narayanan and minority affairs minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday grappled with one of India’s thorniest law-enforcement issues: police versus minorities, taking their respective positions largely in that order. The relationship between police and ethnic minorities poses one of the more serious problems in policing in many parts of the world. In India, Muslims generally perceive the police to be biased against them.

At a two-day brainstorm of the National Commission for Minorities, Narayanan, a former Intelligence Bureau chief, admitted to this “problematic relationship” but sought a sympathetic understanding of the policeman’s job. Khurshid, however, sought a more human approach from not just policemen but even judicial officers.

Both, however, agreed that there was a need to bridge a gaping “trust deficit” by recruiting more minorities into police organisations.

Anti-terror policing has seriously alienated India’s largest minority community, especially because many Muslims have often been found innocent, often after being held in prison for years. “There can be no justification for police over-zealousness but the minorities commission should not be merely judgmental,” Narayanan said. Khurshid, however, said, “Law requires proof beyond reasonable doubt.”

Narayanan, a former National Security Advisor, however cautioned the police against stereotyping Muslims by equating them with criminals.

ramana ji,
the labs and finally police could be under pressure not to give out details. Details could be politically sensitive, or a common official logic will be to keep the actual perpetrators guessing and create the impression that the police are incompetent.

But we have no way of knowing the truth because of the total silence behind which both real as well as feigned incompetence could hide.

Desecration of Kasargode Temple: Man Arrested from Perumbavoor.
14/03/2012 10:04:34 HK

The highly controversial case of desecrating a temple in Kasargode with the severed head of a buffalo has now found a new lead. Police have arrested a native from Kasargode who was living incognito in Perumbavoor. Mohammed Bilal (21) was arrested from a bakery in the Aluva-Munnar road. It has been reported that he was working there for almost a month.

The arrest was made on Monday night (12 March, 2012) by Kasargode police personnel. A strong protest march was organized by Hindu groups in Perumbavoor town on Tuesday condemning the bakery owner for shielding the culprit. However, with police curtailing the remonstration, the protestors voiced their dissent by sitting on the main road. The groups dispersed after sometime.

UP: Desecration of Temple Leads to Violence in Meerut
The Parikshitgarh village of Meerut, UP witnessed widespread violence following attempts by members of the Muslim community to desecrate a Shiva Temple. Police unleashed lathi charge against protesters against the desecration. 6 people were injured in the clash. Local organisations complain that police registered an FIR against the Hindus, who protested against the act of defiling. Situation remains tense, even after 3 days of the incident’s occurrence.
“They have done this deliberately, as they have always been doing. Now with the local MLA being a Muslim, they seem to have gathered enough strength to cause trouble on a regular basis, ” said Banwari Ram, an eye witness. “They desecrated the place by peeing in the area and throwing dirt into the temple premises.”

Sources have stated that members of the Muslim community have gathered in large numbers, preventing Hindus from opening their shops and carrying on with day to day business transactions. Locals goons are also alleged to have misbehaved with women folk of the area. According to BJP MP Agrawal, the act of desecration has been going on with the blessings of the State government and MLA, Shahid of Samajwadi Party.
Hindu organizations including Viswa Hindu Parishad has strongly condemned the act, with members of the local chapter seeking stern action against the miscreants. In a meeting held in the Shiva temple by local VHP chapter, senior activist Shailendra Singh Chauhan said, “The vote bank politics of Mulayam Singh Yadav has started showing its ugly face. But we will never tolerate any kind of attack or harm on the Hindu community and its members.”
Another VHP leader Prempal Chauhan has called for stringent action against all the police officers who indulged in lathi charge against the peacefully protesting Hindus.
According to DIG Hari Ram Sharma, “A case has been registered and three persons were arrested in this connection. A police team has been deployed in the village.”

Delhi police arrest Trichy fake passport broker
According to the Delhi police, the duo Dhayalandan (34) and Sudhanandan (33) who are Sri Lankan Tamils had gone to Delhi airport to leave for France a few days ago. While at the immigration check, officials found that the passports of the duo were fake and invalid.

Police arrested Selvendran from the passport seva kendra in Trichy and returned to Trichy railway junction to return to Delhi.
Are govt officials hand in glove in doling out passports to unverified people?

divide India
Call it the ‘mother of Sachar Commission’—a committee appointed in 2005 by the prime minister to mine data on the socio-economic and educational conditions of Indians—the UPA has gone a step ahead by clearing the decks for a National Data Base (NDB).

The NDB will be a central body storing and disseminating all data of all of India’s socio-religious categories. The agency will thus be to all socio-religious groups what the Sachar Commission has been to Muslims.
The decision to form the NDB—which may easily be called termed as UPA II’s ultimate political carrot dangled before the minorities—was taken at the highest level, including the prime minister, Sonia Gandhi, Khurshid and Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) Srikant Kumar Jena. Once implemented, the NDB would make decisive changes in the way government schemes are conceived and implemented as religious identities would be a decisive part in the planning process along with other socio-economic indicators.
The NDB, the ‘largest repository of all data banks,’ will have the minutest details of all Socio Religious Categories (SRCs), including their social, economic and educational status, details of employment, credit flow and participation in welfare schemes. The NDB’s primary aim would be “to address specifically the data requirements for creating policies and programmes relating to the development of religious minorities like Christians and Muslims,” says a draft note.

Ahmedabad The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has been opposing handing over of its 2002 riots probe report and documents to slain former Congress MP Ahsan Jafri’s widow Zakia Jafri, is reportedly afraid that exposing these papers could “open a Pandora’s box”.
The SIT, which gave trunk-loads of papers to the Ahmedabad Metropolitan court on Tuesday indicating that the investigation into Jafri’s complaint against Chief Minister Narendra Modi and 62 others was complete, has collected a whole lot of highly classified documents. These include intelligence inputs at central and state levels, wireless messages and papers that indicate when exactly the army was called, deployed and so on.

The metro court may take a call on whether to make these public or not on Thursday, which is likely to decide which way the case will go.

Jafri, who lost her husband in the Gulberg Society massacre that killed 69, had sought to book Modi, his ministers, bureaucrats, police officers and political leaders for omission and commission during the riots. However the SIT, which questioned Modi in March 2010, found no material evidence against him.

“Almost three years later, investigation in this case are over from our side. There are documents collected during the probe that have not been given to the petitioners. As per the Supreme Court’s order, the report has to be handed over to them,” an SIT officer told The Indian Express.

“However, we do not want that petitioners should see these documents. They are highly sensitive documents of central and state agencies that are sensitive and not for public view. It should not be given to them for security reasons,” he added.
Sources in the SIT said that apart from the call records of IPS officers posted in Ahmedabad and Godhra during that period, there are government records of the movements of these officers, records of logbooks and control room messages, a jigsaw which, if pieced together, might hint of negligence by certain government officials. The papers contain details of police firing, up to which officer shot how many people from which community and so on.

For instance, the fax to call the army went to the Defence Ministry at 2.30 pm on February 28, 2002 and the army came on March 1 at 10 pm. While riot victims view this as a lapse, an investigator said, “By the time the army was called, everything was over in any case, so how is Modi to blame?”
An SIT source said, “None of the 69 suspects, including Chief Minister Narendra Modi, as alleged, has emerged in the role of a mastermind. The lapses from the government and police were evident but there is no evidence to show there was a meeting of minds or a conspiracy in this lapse.”
Although the SIT sees these lapses in the roles of police officers directly supervising Meghaninagar where Gulberg Society is located, like P B Gondia (then Zone DCP), M K Tandon (then JCP Sector II), K G Erda (police inspector of Meghaninagar police station), it does not see a plot to kill.

The SIT officer said, “If intentions are not there then no offence is made. If these officers showed irresponsibility with a motive then only it can be called an offence... There are no concrete evidence to prove that their ‘intentions’ to show negligence.” According to the SIT, the government records and other inputs do not support Zakia’s claims.

Hindus in Ghutiari Sharif are at a loss
Administrative indifference renders fillip to Islamists

There was indeed a hope that police and administration would act (as expected in a truly democratic, secular country) and thus fulfill its professional obligation. But we were terribly wrong! Not the police has failed to act fast to nab the culprits, responsible for desecration, bombing and eventual destruction of Hindu temple, devoted to Devi Banbibi(Ban Devi), positioned in village: Satbibi (within Ghutiari Sharif), P.S. Canning, District: 24 Paragnas (South), only but what has been found thus far is simple indifference (leading to covert indulgence) also.

What is more striking, in spite of having the news of brutal onslaughts on the Hindu temple on March 10, 2012 (see: http://southbengalherald.blogspot.in/20 ... ed-in.html) both the temple and its deities were again desecrated in the following days in dead night. Will it be wrong to term this a result of weird indifference of administration to Hindus?

This is the condition of Bengal at the moment, preferred to be left in the lurch by mainstream media, and the majority community is being exploited and subjugated by the Islamists backed by politicians of secular credentials. How long will this continue? None has the answer; perhaps the administration is waiting for the eruption of volcano – end of Hindu patience and faith in the nation’s own legal system and framework.

Hindus in the village are at a loss at the moment. Even if they have managed to lodge an official complaint (case number 520 dtd. 15/03/2012) to the nearby police outpost, Hindu reliance on police activity is more than a big zero.

Surasena ji,
ghutiary sharif is a very strong islamic stronghold. The main founder/theologian had plenty of "descendants" all of whom have had plenty of "descendants". That whole area is under their territorial occupation now and over the years have slowly grown in size. There had been many cases where things were traced back to people there or given shelter there - but therfore had to be withdrawn. It is a kind of a safe haven. Having cross regime connections it cannot be touched in any form by the current rashtra and its coercive machinery - which will continue to protect the entity.

You are only getting a glimpse of the iceberg. It has been always a good life for pontiffs who live far into the interior of India, and hence have never seen the reality of life in the frontierlands with Islamist states in the neighbourhood - and who can therefore preach about not subscribing to victimhood or the absolute necessity of licking GCC boots or having not-publicly mentionable secret understandings - all of which go to benefit supposed trade and prosperity and financial flows. But the price is paid by the common non-muslim who face the onslaught - and not just necessarily in war or state conflicts - but continuously in peace time. Their vote does not matter - as the allied Islamists can promise larger numbers, and hence parties will protect them and choose them rather than the non-Muslim whiners.

Ther has been a lot of barbs thrown at refugees from across the border as to why they did not fight back. Well it depends on a time sequence. In the east the people fought earlier and they also fought the Brits earlier. The Brit-Islamic collaboration that followed systematically rooted out that resistance and made sure that the clans/families/networks around which such resistance came up - were destroyed. This led to a phase of collaboration by the survivors - but when they had sufficient measure of the impeialists - it wa sthe east again which rose up violently before the rest of India did. Again bone crushing repression to destroy that resistance - and in which soldeirs from rest of India played their role in srving the boots of their British masters.

The east was repeatedly denuded of its fighting menatlity, population, memes, families, iconic sources because they fought earlier than the others and were wiped off earlier. By the trime the final collaboration between upper India and Brits and Islamics happened - the Hindu in the eastern delta knew that the new Indian regime will throw them to the dogs, and any resistance they showed will be even more be turned back on them as a penalty by the new British-transitioned regime in Delhi. Subsequent behaviour of the leader of that new regime on thsi specific eastern question proved that the refugees had been entirely correct.

In such a situation its not possible for them to fight - they will have to fight the current Indian rashtra which appears to be totally committed to protecting these Islamist havens in spite of official noises, and the Islamists, aswell as world opinion - which would pin them as non-secular, saffron extermists simply becuas ethey are defending themselves against a pure Abrahamic faith.

^^^I have provided shelters to vulnerable women from there in the shelters I organized and help to run. But this is like a drop of water in the ocean. I have tried to argue that they need to move and form contiguous territories which they can defend better. But the admin thwarts any attempt at contiguity.

People have to wait until my earlier projected MB-[Cong+Left] catfight takes a more serious turn in the next term. Even then not much can be retrieved, but yet, something a bit more is possible.

bji thanks for the info, good to get a first hand perspective from someone on the ground rather than armchair musings from people living in the safety of kaffir majority areas.

What is the reaction in the vernacular press in WB, do they also suppress such incidents like the ELM?

From what I understand Deganga wasn't far from Kolkata (50 km's as I remember) and yet there was hardly any peep for days after it started and even then it was a total whitewash what was reported in the ELM.

Surasena ji,
I am not on the spot. I started the womens shelters far away from the frontier in my ancestral region [not in WB] more than a decade ago when I was still in politics. I maintain them with others on the field. But yes I have channels open to know whats happening on the ground at the border. What you say is accurate. But it is better not to highlight them. Since we have no way of protecting them from the combined wrath of admin/rashtra and parties and islamists, I would rather that their plight is not talked of where people might visit info, who shout that all this is victimhood and such highlighting may jeopardize the funds and prosperity flow from wealthy Islamist nations.

I have known several cases that such highlighting has brought retribution - where admin/rashtryia functionaries get inflamed and try to ensure that no one remains in a condition whereby such reports can leak out. Just a request. Do also remember that none of the local or national press will even report a "saffron terror induced fear reaction from minorities" type do's. The same sources can manage to smuggle videos of BSF "torturing" innocent BD nationals at the border - but they never find videos of the innocent minorities carrying out stuff on Hindus around the same place.
