Minister blames cops for Uttar Pradesh temple violence

http://www.firstpost.com/fwire/minister ... 63724.html
Quote:
Uttar Pradesh Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav today blamed police and the PAC for the firing incident at a temple here during Ram Navmi that left three worshippers dead and 35 injured. Had police and PAC taken adequate precautions, the incident at Brahmni Devi temple could have been avoided, the PWD and Irrigation Minister said.

“Before opening fire at devotees, the police and the PAC could have opted for baton charge, firing of teargas shells. Even if they had to open fire it should not have been direct,” Yadav, the local MLA, said.

The minister, who met the locals and took stock of the situation, visited houses of the bereaved families.

He said a magisterial probe had been ordered into the incident and action would be taken against those found guilty.

Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Jagmohan Yadav, who arrived in Etawah along with senior officials from Lucknow, said a thorough probe was on into the matter.

The priest of Brahmni Devi temple, Sanjay Misra, said police force was not deployed in adequate strength.

On Sunday, two groups of devotees clashed following a dispute over offering prayers at the ancient temple in Balrai area. The violence, in which the two sides also traded fire, left three dead and 35, including some policemen, injured.Police had opened fire to bring the situation under control.

good. more ministers should blame cops. showing the cops that their servile mentality won't save them if politicians think it's too expensive.

Sporadic incidents of violence triggers tension in Kasaragod

STAFF REPORTER

Image
Tense moment: BJP supporters assemble before the District unit of the party office in Kasaragod on Saturday after unidentified miscreants pelted stones on the building smashing window glass panes. The infuriated party supporters later staged violent demonstration in city streets. Photo: V. Kumar.

Tension prevailed in the municipal limits after unidentified miscreants pelted stones on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) district unit office here and another building under the party control as stray incidents of violence were reported as the infuriated party workers staged march in the city streets to resent the attack, police said.

Following tension in the town and adjoining localities, shop keepers downed their shutters in the afternoon while buses, including the Kerala State Road Transport buses, opted not to ply in the municipal limits after unidentified group of people pelted stones on the BJP workers, select shops and a two-wheeler in the town as the party loyalists were staging a march in the town to denounce the attack on the party’s district unit office.

The attack on the BJP office situated at Karanatakad locality and another building named after late party veteran K. G. Marar at Thalipaadappu, leading to smashing of window glass panes, came to notice early this morning after which the party workers were found streaming into the spot.

Several flex boards and hoardings were also targeted by the unidentified group under the cover of darkness, police said.

The irked party supporters later took out a march to the protest the attack.

However, a section of people grouped themselves and pelted stones on the protesters, a two-wheeler and shops forcing the shopkeepers to down the shutters in the afternoon.
Apprehending trouble, the Kasaragod bound buses suspended their services inside the municipal limits in the afternoon.

Police resorted to mild lathi-charge and lobbed smoke grenades to disperse the warring groups, a senior police official said.

BJP district unit General Secretary K. Sreekanth accused members of the Indian Union Muslim League affiliated labour wing Swatantra Thozhilali Union (STU) of unleashing the attack on the demonstrators.

The police had taken 10 BJP loyalists into custody for taking march in the town without prior permission, they said adding that the situation was under control.

Kasargode: Mallikarjuna Temple Desecrated with Buffalo Carcass Head
03/04/2012 10:32:49

Image

The town of Kasargode again stands witness to brewing communal tension, with fanatic Muslim miscreants throwing the head of a buffalo carcass into the premises of Mallikarjuna Temple. The heinous crime was committed by 2 Muslim youths, who came astride a bike, hurling the carcass head into the temple premises from the back side of temple. The incident appears to be part of a well scripted drama of deliberately causing communal turmoil in the town.

The crime was committed in a jiffy, without giving any chance for the miscreants in revealing their identity. The offenders hurled the bag containing the carcass from the rear portion of the temple. The bag hit the compound walls and landed at the way leading to temple. As soon as the incident came into light, devotees and local people swarmed the area. They were joined by members of Hindu organizations, who reached the spot immediately.

State General Secretary of BJP K Surendranath, District President Suresh Kumar Shetty, Mandalam President P Rameshan, RSS Thaluk Sanghachalak K Dineshan, BMS State Secretary Advocate P Muraleedharan, District Vice-President H Keshava, BJP District Secretary Nanchil Kunhiraman were among the first to reach the spot. Senior police officials accompanied CG Prasad, Temple Managing Trustee, in conducting preliminary investigations.
K Surendranath, Suresh Kumar Shetty, leaders of RSS and Hindu Aikya Vedi reiterated that the incident must be seen as part of a hidden agenda by communal fanatics in disrupting the peace of Kasargode and creating a violent situation. The miscreants, they said, must be severely dealt with by both police and district authorities.

As news of the desecration of Mallikarjuna Temple spread, the entire town of Kasargode and neighbouring places were placed under strict surveillance, as hostility prevailed in the area. A well armed contingent of police has been deployed in the temple vicinity and adjacent areas. The situation, even though volatile, is under control. Kasargode also witnessed a mass protest rally of Hindus, including devotees and locals, remonstrating against the incident.
This is the third successful endeavour of miscreants, in a span of few weeks, in desecrating Hindu temples. Another incident on similar lines took place at Meeppugiri Durga Devi Temple in Madhur Panchayat of Kasargode District just two months ago. The head of a buffalo carcass was conveniently positioned at the apex of the stone lamp, which was discovered by devotees early in the morning.

The incident which shocked the entire Hindu community was done by a group of 6 people. Out of the 6 offenders 1 man was arrested from Perumbavoor and 2 from Chennai. In the interrogation that followed, they confessed that placing the head of the buffalo carcass in the temple was indeed a deliberate attempt in distorting peace and communal harmony of the place. 3 among the offenders still remain missing.

However, Indian Union Muslim League, a dominant political party in Kasargode District has been vehemently denying the incidents, including the pelting of stones at Edavunkaal Vishnu Moorthy Temple. They have been engaging themselves in a widespread propaganda, referring to the incidents as nothing but hoax. But following the arrests of antisocial elements who had received ample training in fundamentalist activities, these leaders maintained their silence.
With Kasargode becoming a focal point of sacrilegious activities like temple desecration, many Hindu organizations convened a meeting to chalks out means of registering and launching a powerful protest. The meeting was held in the premises of Mallikarjuna Temple today.

Hindu organizations observed Hartal in Kasargod today. As usual medias kept silent about the whole incident but was quick to report against the Hartal call.

Aah. co-ordinated temple attacks - from UP to Kerala only.

Two possibilities arise: (i) such attacks have been happening all the time but are only now getting reported breaking the big media stranglehold on 'inconvenient' news, and/or (ii) anti-social and anti-national elements among the IMs have escalated the tempo of communal tension.

if its (ii), wonder what makes these IMs so confident already that they'll "win" this war of attrition when their overall population % is below 20% (assuming projections are reliable). Now, it could be locally their numbers are above the 'FUD' threshold (like in Kasargode) wherein they have decided to go overt in their war against us dirty kafirs. Time will tell where this is going. I hope and pray at least now the (as yet) majority community wakes up and polarizes the vote in favor of a no-nonsense, no-appeasement stance from its political representatives.

Both I & II are correct, these sort of attacks used to happen frequently even before but they have also gone up as Muslim population goes up. Internet has made information dissemination easier so nowadays you can read the reports online, see photos, and even some videos (they are around on youtube including of an attack where a gau shala was burnt down in Hyderabad).

There are other attacks happening which still go unreported that only people in the effected areas or people with sources would know.

Somehow any area with significant Muslim population soon becomes "communally sensitive", must be due to the nefarious plots of Hindu fascists no doubt as our patriotic persecuted minority brothers never engage in any illegal behavior.

Local Jihadis always get bold whenever they sense weakness. I dont see the anger on the face of these people in photo, they look anguished and somewhat helpless and resgined to such activities. Mullah Mulayam winning the election in UP must have boosted the morale of islamists.

its a well known thumb rule than activities shift from covert 'resentment' to overt harassment as the % goes beyond a certain number. certainly that threshold number is <= 25%.

the national media in print or TV has NEVER reported on these incidents, too busy flaying the limp corpse of godhra again and again!

Conspiracy bu GoI to defame innocent Fishermen and UdayaKumar onlee : :(( :((

Spike in foreign funds for NGOs in Tamil Nadu

Quote:
Call it a conspiracy theory, but if the Centre is to be believed, there could be a link between the hike in foreign funding for NGOs and protests against the Kudankulam plant.

Sources said foreign contribution to 12 NGOs in two districts — Tirunelveli, where the plant is based, and
neighbouring Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu — has increased sharply over the last four years, ever since agitations against the plant started. “These NGOs received over Rs 31 crore in 2010-11, with the foreign contribution to some doubling during the agitation period,” a senior government functionary said, adding that the money given is mostly for social causes such as education, health and sanitation.

The Tamil Nadu government was asked by the Centre to register cases against two of the 112 NGOs for diverting foreign funds under the provisions of the Foreign Contribution Regulatory Act. The role of 10 other NGOs in the Kudankulam agitation is also being probed.

The misuse of foreign funds for launching agitations against the government came into the spotlight when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accused US non-profit organisations of funding the agitation against two reactors at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant.

“These NGOs… don’t appreciate our country’s need to increase energy supply,” Singh said.

The home ministry’s website shows that there has been an overall increase in foreign funding to NGOs in Tamil Nadu, mostly Christian organisations. While the Tuticorin Diocesan Association witnessed a 50% jump in foreign funding, the People’s Education for Action and Community Empowerment (an NGO headed by chief agitator Uday Kumar) received foreign aid of Rs 2.64 crore.

NGOs in Tamil Nadu received over Rs 2,500 crore in foreign funds between 2006-07 and 2010-11.

http://dailypioneer.com/nation/54691-didi-delivers-promise-accords-urdu-second-language-status.html

Quote:
In what was termed as “historic development” by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the State Government has provided the “second official language” status to Urdu in areas where the language is spoken by more than 10 per cent people

Quote:
Announcing this in the Assembly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said similar legislation would be brought for other languages such as Nepali, Santhali and Hindi in the next session.

Urdu comes ahead of Nepali,Santhali in Bengal. To the extent that they have been included is good and one hopes WB Govt enacts the law for Nepali,Santhali and Hindi next year.

It is extraordinary the way urdu is making a comeback in Bengal.Like in Kasargod,it is just not religion but language issues as well.Mamta to appease bengali muslims is resurrecting urdu while putting Nepali,Santhali in the backburner.

It is easy to criticise congress but in many parts of India,linguistic-ethicity trumps the more 'vaporous' Hindu identity.

Its tough for states like Gujarat,KA,Maharashtra,Uttarakhand,Jammu.

currently I am living in the heart of dar ul Islam i.e. Malappuram since past 3 months. Something else is going on a Kasargod maybe due to some lingering communal tension or some fanatic group intent on violence. As I closely get to watch social behaviour & interaction of faithful at Malappuram, I am pleasantly surprised. There is no discord or bad blood between two communities here at all. In fact, this is the most civilized, peaceful & habitable and socially and culturally endowed place in whole of Kerala. Especially as compared to the shoitewhole that is central thiruvithamkoor. Muslim ladies who cover themselves with hijab usually wear fancy silk sarees and gold jwellery only during ambalam ulsavam (temple festival) which is celebrated by all communities here since an ulsavam belongs to a village or panchayat and both erstwhile majority and current majority communities host it as their own. As I see it this is social heaven. There is no social tension at all, and you can not even find police on the streets easily though police lingering around streets is a common sight in central travancore.

Malappuram for one thing was always on the radar of all folks for some time. The reason was that it had a very large minority community presence, and the belief was that if any rioting happens it has to originate from here. Also the previous major riots (Moplah Riots of 1921) happened in this district and parts of Kozhikode Rural and Palakkad districts.

My feeling is that Malappuram may not be the origin of a riot, but a major hub for shady business deals, hawala transactions. There is a place Vengara, which is noted for the large number of money trafficking cases (and one gang attacking members of other gangs) reported. This is very near to Kozhikode Intl. Airport. So the place can be used for undermining the country and its ethos using other fronts, and not by rioting. It is more like suspected characters in Malappuram have other bigger business to do than common riot mongering.

Where as Kasaragode disrtict seems to be going the pure terrorist and riot mongering way. Here the intention seems to be using brute force and dirty tactics to overwhelm the opponents. Provocating Hindus have been happening for quite some time there now. It is pretty sad that police have not been able to make any attempt in even identifying the trouble makers. Even Perumbavoor (which is part of Ernakulam District, in Central Kerala) was not noted for any cases related to terrorism.

So to me it looks like:-
1. Immediate riot mongering and hate mongering to be carried out from other wise unknown places in Kerala.
2. More serious nasty businesses to be carried out, without much open hostility in areas where people would expect a riot to happen any time.

There is usually no bad blood for some time after it has become dar-ul-islam, the correct and rightful majority dominates, and there is confidence that Islam khatre me nehi hain. Moreover, if the surrounding hinterland is dominated by kaffir - that also helps.

The first round of territorial consolidation has been achieved, now no need to draw attention to the underlying preparations for the next phase of expansion being planned. In this phase every possible taqyia must be done to disarm and neutralize those voice among the kaffir that might raise the alarm. It also helps to pull the wool over the stupid kaffir who happens to be taken in by external appearances.

This has been the quitessential feature of islamist expansion among kaffirs everywhere when they were not militarily overwhelming to start with.

That may be the case even now. Why should Italians have to go roaming around Naxal infested areas, which any way is not a tourist destination by any means? I feel this entire kidnapping drama was a perfectly orchestrated one.

There are reports that Italian clergy is visiting Kerala to negotiate the release of Italian marines. They are meeting Latin Catholic Church (the Catholic Church division for fishermen caste) and also met victims' families.

UP govt to bring bill for revoking false cases against Muslims

http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_up ... ms_1671610
Quote:
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to bring in a bill to revoke cases lodged against "innocent" Muslim youths for their alleged involvement in terror activities and provide them suitable compensation.

"Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to bring in a bill to revoke cases lodged against innocent Muslim youths in the name of their involvement in terrorist activities and also to give them compensation for their arrest," Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chowdhury said.

The chief minister has also decided to bring bills for implementation of recommendations of Ranganath Mishra and Rajinder Sachar Committees and for constituting trusts of Muslims religious institutions, he said.

Chowdhury said that the SP government would also remove encroachments on Waqf properties.

I wonder how many Muslim votes there are in UP. That's probably why he is doing it. All the leaders have to take care of their constituency members.

I am just wondering how can they form such laws specifically based to be beneficial for one religion/community?
1. Wont it be against the constitution as this law is only to revoke false cases lodged against members from a specific religion?
2. So is it that false cases can be lodged against members from other religions and they get no immunity? If there are existing provisions against false cases, then why bring a bill specific to appease Muslims?
3. And is it not like admitting that Police agencies in UP have this habit of foisting false cases (against every one, but Mullah Yadav is now finding a way to help only Muslims here).

PS: If I am not mistaken there are provisions in which Government (Prosecution) can request a case to be dropped. I have seen this in many cases where politicians are pulled up in cases and later when their party comes to power they use the APP,PP to move a plea to take down the case.

Hyderabad Muslim groups demand ban on the activities of Qadiyanis
Submitted by admin4 on 27 March 2012

Hyderabad: The Ahmadiyas (Qadiyanis) are now the most wanted and haunted people in Hyderabad. Every local Muslim organization and political party are demanding ban on their activities and community halls. Hyderabad has history of conflict between Muslims and Qadiyanis. Last month the A.P. wakf board had unlisted the properties of Ahmadiya community from the wakf list, and handed over those properties to endowments and even asked the Qazis not to perform their Nikah. This was seen by many as political decisions.

But the conflict now seems to be on its peak with the protests by the local Muslims objecting the celebration of Ahmadiya sect formation day. On 25th March a group of Qadiyanis was celebrating their sect’s formation day at their community center Masjid-ul- Hamd in Saidabad. But before the program, they distributed material in three different languages which was allegedly inflammatory in nature according to the locals. The material played with the modesty of Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and the holy Mosques in Mecca & Madina, it even used Quranic verses and kalima which were objected by many local Muslims as according to them they cannot use holy scripts as they are not Muslims.

MBT leaders submitting memo

After coming to know about Qadiyani celebrations and the literature distribution, At 2.30 pm more than 200 activists of anti-Qadiyani organization Majlis Tahaffuz-E-Khatm-E-Nabuwat under the leadership of its general secretary Mohammed Ali Arshad Khatim Qasmi assembled at the community center and raised anti-Qadiyani slogans. The organization blocked the Saidabad-Madannapet main road and created traffic chaos. Soon the news spread like wild fire and Muslims in huge numbers started gathering down. Even two commercial buildings belonging to Ahmadiya sect were damaged in stone pelting. Seeing the situation getting out of hand police came into action and the Rapid Action Force, Task force and other police forces dispersed the crowed and controlled the situation.

Police provided protection to those 500 Qadiyanis who were trapped in their community hall due to protest, to get out of the area immediately. After getting complaints from many Muslim groups police seized the alleged inflammatory material from their community hall and huge police personnel were deployed for the protection of those centers. The Additional Commissioner of Police (Co-ordination) Mr. Amit Garg, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Malakpet Division Mr. Iqbal Siddiqui visited the area and tried to pacify the agitated crowd.

The state wakf board’s recent decisions are seen as attempt to make Qadiyanis a scapegoat to divert the attention from maladministration in the wakf board and to winning the support of Muslims by making Ahmadiya sect a punching bag has provided a precedent for the political parties.

Sensing the mood of the crowd political parties thronged into action. At the night of the incident day, all the top brass leaders of Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) visited the area, and with their supporters went to the Saidabad police station and submitted a memorandum to the inspector of police demanding ban on their community center and the activities of the Qadiyani community in that area. According to MBT, “Qadiyanis are not Muslims as they claimed some Ahamed Qadiyani to be their Prophet not Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), the last Prophet of Islam, Hence they don’t have any right to use Islamic Names, Quranic Verses and call their Community Halls as Mosques which is also against the Indian Constitution. By putting a Community Hall and claiming it to be a Mosque and distributing blasphemous material against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is against Islamic Sharia. It was a conspiracy by Qadiyanis to create unrest in that area. Police should arrest Qadiyanis who were responsible for printing those blasphemous materials, and police should immediately close down their community center. If action is not taken by the police MBT will protest on the streets.”

Ahmadiya community center

The very next day Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) organized a huge rally to protest against the Ahmadiya sect and their activities in Hyderabad under the leadership of the local MLA of Malakpet constituency Mr. Ahmed Balala. Heavy security arrangements were made for the protest. The procession stopped at ACP Malakpet office and the MIM MLA with some of his supporters met the Assistant Commissioner of Police Malakpet Division Mr. Iqbal Siddiqui and demanded to close down the community center and to censor the activities of Qadiyanis in that area.

From the recent series of protest one thing is clear: In coming days, the confrontation between the two communities is going to be worse.

UP govt to bring bill for revoking false cases against Muslims

So much for the "gen-next" leaders being of a different mold and being concerned about the country more than petty vote-banks

Can safely expect for such hare-brained schemes at central level when Amul baba takes the gaddi.

Interesting...

If a group of Ahmadiyas are killed in some riot by evil saffron religionists, will the IMs not use their killings to show "Islam khatre mein hai"?

If the UP law is religion specific it could be challenged in court as it is unconstitutional.

Curfew clamped in Saidabad, Madannapet

SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

Image
A motorcycle is in flames during a clash between two groups in the Saidabad area of Hyderabad on Sunday.

Curfew has been clamped in Saidabad and Madannapet police station areas of the old city after communal trouble broke out on Sunday morning.

Police took the decision of clamping the curfew as stone pelting incidents continued unabated. One or two incidents of knifing were also reported.

Sources said three persons with knife injuries were shifted to hospital.

The RTC authorities have suspended operation of city buses to Saidabad and surrounding localities after 19 buses were damaged.

Trouble broke out following reports that a religious place was desecrated in Saidabad area in the morning.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy reviewed the law and order situation.

I was told that beef was thrown into a local Hanuman mandir by my sources, those in Hyderabad should try to find out more.

Any shibboleths from our resident AP expert (he at least fancies himself to be one) about how "strategic Telugus" have "castrated" the Islamists?

the worst thing is, if any govt set its mind to the task, crushing the Islamist fantasies in the Hyderabad region is a pretty easy thing to do. mostly b/c faithfool population is limited to Hyd city onlee. go outside Hyd, and momeen population is very low (max 5-8% is any district). but the very fact that even with such favorable demographic tilt, the Islamists continue to function and raise their fantasies, speaks of one simple fact: there is a significant contingent of "hindu" elites who have kept the Islamist dreams as leverage to beat up fellow co-religionists, in case, it is ever needed. this is why the Islamist fantasies of "Islamic Republic of Deccan" continue: b/c a section of Hindu elites in Andhra (not just coastal ones--like out esteemed fellow forum member---also think about the section of the Telangana elites which colluded with the Islamists for centuries, even as far back as the 14th century) sees itself benefiting from the continued existence of such hostile elements.

From the siasat daily of hyderabad

Tension erupted in the morning following reports of alleged desecration of a religious place in Kurmaguda, wherein
some devotees complained that they found "meat" and green-coloured water near a place of worship.
Enraged members of the community took out rallies that culminated in stone-pelting. As the news spread, members
of other community too assembled in large numbers and also indulged into heavy brickbatting against each other and at houses in Kurmaguda besides the communally sensitive areas of Madannapet and Saidabad, thus prompting police to cane charge and burst of teargas shells to disperse marauding mobs.

All these arrests just goes to show how deeply these part time pakis have embedded themselves amongst us , it'll take quite an effort to root them out and a dedicated team . Something the states don't seem to want
