It is high time, IA used some form of infra-red beacons on soldiers at front lines to recognize them as friendlies from afar, rather than getting fooled by terrorists in IA fatigues. Also these numbers can be scrambled everyday to achieve higher security. It will make such low-tech attacks well & nigh impossible.

The attacks happened not so far away from Kaluchak, where the terrorists had attacked families of army men a few years back.

These ****** might have come from across the border, but definitely had support from inside. It's impossible for heavily armed Pakis to travel that deep inside Indian territory without someone guiding them.

This a "dialogue of the deaf".The Paki leaders are deaf and dumb to Indian protests about its terrorism.These attacks have deliberately been planned to put pressure upon our beloved Mir Jafar.....sorry,Man Mohan Singh,who in his political twilight is desperate to visit his village in Pak as the Indian PM.He also appears to be desperate to be remembered a as "peacemaker",which some allege has been promised to him by Uncle Sam,if he stays the course with Pak. As NV Subramaniam wrote,he appears willing to compromise on Kashmir with Pak at US behest,what Pak could never win on the battlefield but will be gifted across the table,so that US regional interests will be served.Yossef Bodansky in another post ,said that the US will never listen to India on Kashmir or Afghanistan,always preferring to back Pak at any cost.Unfortunately,our PM heading for the dustbin of history will ever be remembered as India's Neville Chamberlain,waving a worthless scrap of paper,fit only for the toilet,promising us a "peace in our time".

I'm done getting my blood pressure rising over these attacks.

Until and unless we can (or work towards it) bring declared retribution inside their territory, instead of only killing them in ours, dominate their ground instead of fighting it out on ours, and exact revenge in multiplier terms, I can only support our soldiers and wish the terrorists a lingering death.

Outrage, grief, shock are now a waste of time, easily expressed, more easily forgotten.

Attacks aimed at derailing India-Pakistan talks: Omar Abdullah

SRINAGAR: Condemning the "dastardly" twin terror attacks, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said they are aimed at derailing talks between Prime Minister Mahmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

"Given our history and given the timing as well as location of the attacks, one thing is obvious that the aim of these terrorists is to derail the proposed dialogue between the Prime Minister of India and Prime Minister of Pakistan," he told reporters here.

Asked if Pakistan was playing a double game by seeking dialogue and infiltrating militants at the same time, Omar said it would be wrong to speculate whether the infiltration took place with the active knowledge of elected leadership of Pakistan.

"We do know that from time to time, (the) forces inimical to dialogue have sought to derail the process even though the Pakistan government has thrown its weight behind such a process.

"We have seen even when (then President) General Pervez Musharraf was committed to dialogue process, there were forces who tried to derail this process," he said.

Jammu and Kashmir never merged with India, says Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that his state only acceded, and never merged with India.
He was speaking to a European Union delegation here.

Omar Abdullah said J&K’s accession with India was on four issues only—Currency, Communication, Foreign affairs and Defence.

“While all the states acceded to Union of India and then merged with it, J&K only acceded and did not merge. That is why we have a special status, our own constitution and the state flag."

So asking for J&Ks merger with India is a 'extremist view'.

"There are divergent views on the (Kashmir) issue. While one extremist view is for secession, the other is total merger of the state with the Union of India", he said.

Acc. to HT the terrorists were 16-19 yrs old. Good thing they were killed else they would have been spared under Juvenile act I suppose.
But am shocked, these guys entered the Army HQ - even in Dilli or other camps, when you cross them you see machans and sandbags with machine gun placings guarding the camp. And these guys then went in to the Offrs Mess and shot the CO and 2nd in command. There must be more to the story than in HT.

And Maha Murakh Singh says aimed at disrupting peace instead of outright warning Pakis or consoling the citizens who lost their loved ones.

What happens if GoI puts a bill in parliament for forced merger of J&K (like Hyderabad) and changes the constitution for it? Will Omar Abdullah then join Pakistan and wage war with India?

Why is J&K so special compared to other hundreds of principalities?

I think as a CBM during the Manmohan-Sharif meeting, MMS should offer to withdraw AFSPA in Kashmir. Forces inimical to Indo-Pak peace have intentionally triggered this attack just on the eve of our Prime Minister's landmark meeting with the democratically elected head of the Pakistan government.

Remember Gandhi/Jesus: if you get slapped on one cheek, turn the other. If that gets slapped as well, you have two butt-cheeks left still.

I think we should lead a campaign to boycott Indian media that calls terrorists as militants.

They had no problem in callin ghte Al Shahbab terrorists in Kenya as terrorists.

So why the ambiguity wrt to terrorists from TSP unless they are fellow travellers.
