US Must Realise that India Can be a Friend, Only as an Equal and Not as a Follower - By Prabhu Chawla
Agonised apologists for America are in angst over the angry objurgation against American arrogance over L’affaire Devyani Khobragade. Ever since the Indian government showed some spine by retaliating against the US government, America’s Indian megaphones are rising in fortissimo to counter the orchestra of domestic disgust. For them, money is more important than national pride. The class that adores the colour of the greenback over respect for the Tricolour are asking fustian questions like “Is Devyani more important than the Indo-US relationship?” In their lucre-driven bombilations, they have chosen to forget that Devyani, a Dalit diplomat, was representing her country and was not just some individual the Indian government had dispatched to the US. Forget amor patriae, an obstreperous campaign is on to undermine her reputation and underplay the colossal insult to the prestige of Indian state by a petty American official. As Devyani returned home in disguised disgrace, the government hit back by asking a US diplomat to be recalled. He was the one instrumental in getting Devyani’s maid Sangeeta Richard’s family ‘evacuated’ from their own country—India.
...
...
While Devyani was declared persona non grata, US authorities remained silent about the behaviour of her nanny and her family members who entered the US to avoid facing Indian courts. The inexplicably imperious US posturing on Devyani hides more than what it reveals. Otherwise both countries wouldn’t have adopted an eyeball-to-eyeball stance. It is perhaps for the first time that both India and the US have expelled diplomats in concert. Such an exceptional row comes at a stage when they were perceived as allies in global economic and strategic issues. For the past two decades, India has been bending backwards to mend its ways and means to suit American corporate and strategic interests. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is the only Head of State who has made the maximum number of trips during his two terms to the US than any of his peers. American diplomats in India were given exceptional waivers to open schools, clubs, import luxury goods and even employ Indians without following Indian laws. The American Embassy in New Delhi was shown the magnanimity of blocking the road behind it in the name of security, while the Indian Embassy in Washington was even denied two parking spots. American diplomats have been enjoying special facilities at various airports in India, unlike Indian diplomats in the US. American Embassy staff were given passes to enter official areas where even senior civil servants, ministers and chief ministers could not tread. The Indian Prime Minister and Union ministers have been liberal in granting visiting US junior diplomats an audience. But for our ministers, getting an appointment with even a Secretary in the US government, let alone President Obama, would be unthinkable. The UPA has been so eager to oblige America that it even risked a fall by getting the Indo-US Civil Nuclear Agreement passed, facing charges of political misconduct.
...
...
Yet India has been magnanimous towards America. But the way they treated Devyani proves beyond any doubt that US policymakers are uncomfortable with India’s rise as an economic and military super power, which could challenge their supremacy one day. They have perhaps forgotten former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who always showed them their place, whether it was over China or Pakistan. The US may have infiltrated the Indian establishment but it has wounded the heart of India. For Indians, protecting the prestige of the Tricolour is a matter of faith, which cannot be compromised by showering a bounty of dollars on a chosen few. The time has come for America to realise that India can be a friend, only as an equal and not as a follower.

I think Nirupama Rao was the first to tweet about so called relationship must be preserved.
A good question is to ask as Indian Ambassador to US what advise did she provide Delhi about the increasing negation of Vienna Protocols by the US?
Next as MEA Secy what did she do after the Prabhu Dayal fiasco? What steps she put in place t preclue a repeat of the incident?

So New Ind Express(NIE) led by Prabhu Chawla is quite different than the American rag Ind Express run by Shekar Dupatta?

Its downright patriotic/nationalistic/Indian Interests like the old Ind Express run by Ramnath Goenka!

Meanwhile NIE has this story:

http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/ ... 995781.ece
A direct link seems to be emerging between the domestic assistant at the centre of the storm in diplomat Devyani Khobragade case and the US envoy who has been asked to be withdrawn by India, even as External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said there was no question of restoring privileges for the US embassy here.

It is suspected that in-laws of maid Sangeeta Richard may have been employed with Wayne May, regional security officer at the US embassy, whose presence is no longer wanted by India.

Neither the Ministry of External Affairs nor the US State Department has officially identified the US diplomat who will be withdrawn, though they have said the official has a similar director-level rank as Devyani Khobragade.

Official sources had said the diplomat was “involved in processes related to the Khobragade case and subsequent unilateral action by the US”. The US diplomat has been given “little more than 48 hours”.

Incidentally, the original complaint against Khobragade, accusing her of visa fraud and making false statement, was investigated and filed by DSS special agent Mark Smith and her arrest was also managed by the diplomatic security service.

There also seemed to be another reason for the special attention given to Richard’s case — the elderly Richard couple had been inherited as driver and cook by various US diplomats who resided at the diplomatic residence in Aurangzeb Lane. One of the previous occupants of that address was Uzra Zaya, who is currently acting assistant secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor.

Further, the air tickets for the family members — husband Philip Richard and children, Jennifer and Jatin Richard — were paid for by the US embassy’s travel agency, availing of the exemption from duty for diplomats.
While Mr May had diplomatic immunity its stretching the imagination to call him a diplomat. He seems to be a diplomat of Raymond Davis genre. i.e. a goon in a suit.

As TSJ said this one packs a heat or gun.

'John' Wayne's famous interview
In an interview to an international publication, Wayne had described that the challenges of his posting in India include “unhealthy living conditions like air and water pollution, the threat of disease and sickness, bad traffic and everything else that one would associate with a developing country with a population of over 1.2 billion”. - See more at: http://indianexpress.com/article/india/ ... rQ3oA.dpuf
Wayne's famous interview of his hardships and challenges has made it in Indian Express! Article also names Alicia Muller May. GoI was seriously thinking of getting rid of her first. It should only be a matter of time when Alicia will get her moments of fame and shame in the media.

Manu Pubby in Ind Express:
he senior US diplomat expelled by India Friday allegedly played a central role in the case against IFS officer Devyani Khobragade in New York as well as the evacuation of her domestic help’s family to the US last month.

Regional security officer Wayne May, who has been asked to leave India, was the coordination officer of the India-US anti-terrorism assistance programme and a special agent of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the division of the US State Department that is also the complainant against Khobragade in the New York case.

New Delhi believes May and his wife, Alicia Muller May, who too is a diplomat and is posted at the US Embassy as a Community Liaison Officer, were central to the entire issue of evacuating domestic help Sangeeta Richard’s family and the action against Khobragade.

Wayne, who has put in over 27 years of service in the US government and managed the more than 420 security staff and investigative officers at the mission in New Delhi, was the main liaison to Indian police agencies for high profile visits from the US and was the coordinator from the American side to the anti-terrorism assistance programme.

The expulsion, sources said, was ordered as India had “reasons to believe the diplomat is closely involved in the processes relating to the case and the subsequent unilateral action by the US”.

As an officer of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Wayne was also allegedly coordinating with his counterparts in New York who had filed the official complaint of trafficking against Khobragade.

Sources said India had initially thought of taking action against Alicia, a diplomat of the first secretary rank, as she had allegedly used her privileges to buy tax-exempted air tickets for the husband and children of Richard who left on trafficking visas.

This, sources said, was illegal as only diplomats and their families are eligible for the tax exemption.

However, New Delhi subsequently decided that “reciprocal action” should be taken against a diplomat of the same rank as Khobragade, resulting in the notice to the US to withdraw Wayne, who is a consular level officer.

Wayne, who has served in the Diplomatic Security Bureau since 1988, has worked in Thailand, Colombia, Niger, Singapore and Greece before being posted to India in 2010. He was in charge of the entire security and investigation team in India that included a “deputy regional security officer for investigations, four assistant regional security officers, two office management specialists, one residential security coordinator, six foreign service national investigators, 10 marine security guards and 400 local guard personnel”.

{So in addition to duty free liquor and recreation centers the Embassy is a fortress with its own garrison of over 400 people and has its own garrison commander! How many personnel are there in Indian Embassy in DC?}

In an interview to an international publication, Wayne had described that the challenges of his posting in India include “unhealthy living conditions like air and water pollution, the threat of disease and sickness, bad traffic and everything else that one would associate with a developing country with a population of over 1.2 billion".

Sources said the last time India expelled a US diplomat was in September 1981 when political counselor George Griffin was asked to leave.
So the wife not only helped sell smuggled goods but bought air tickets on embassy concession terms which is illegal.

How can she still serve in India after the repeated illegalities?

With a title of Community Liaison Officer is she a diplomat at all? She sure doesn't seem to have the training. Are First Secretary which is a high rank also CLO's?

The most shocking thing for me has been the intensity of anger towards Devyani as compared to lack of anger against the US by fellow Indians (at home and abroad). Whereas here in US most of the comments below NYT articles were very anti-India.

Just look at the comments section here - Devyani Khobragade row shows India fell off Obama's map

All I have to say is - when your younger sister commits a mistake and if a neighbor mistreats her, you don't go around saying hey she deserved it. You go deal with the neighbor first and then you can discuss your sister's mistake with her.

The US is a true Nazi state. Only in the US will one find the equivalent of a military police (DCS) inside the diplomatic service. This also provides insights into Massa's foreign policy. It means that SD isn't really a civilian service but yet another uniformed service at par with Army/Airforce/Navy. While we in India have scholar diplomats the US has soldier diplomutts. In addition US embassies and consulates are in essence forts in line with the forts of the Hanseatic league of the middle ages. The first order of business for GOI should be to ask USA to pare down the number of staff at each of their consulates.

X posted from Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India

Aam Aadmi Party – America sharpens its knife against Modi

Aam Aadmi Party, in case the BJP missed the point, did not win the elections. And yet, Kejriwal has been sworn in as Chief Minister of Delhi and has “won” the first trust vote on the floor of the Assembly. This was subversion of the electoral process, and a severe let-down for all who voted for the BJP. By refusing to fulfil its obligation to the people who voted to elect a BJP government in Delhi, the BJP was instrumental in legitimising the illegitimate Arvind Kejriwal government.

Arvind Kejriwal poses a clear and present danger to India’s sovereignty; the danger posed by Kejriwal and Co. is worse than the threat posed by Sonia Gandhi and her family. The twin threats posed by Sonia Gandhi and Kejriwal are comparable to the threats posed by Islam and Christianity. While the sword of Islam is a visible threat, the cancerous church is invisible and the disease manifests itself only when it becomes incurable.

Sonia Gandhi was visibly foreign and Christian; her two children are half-foreign and fully Christian; but Kejriwal is Indian and has already made a public exhibition of coquetting with Abrahamic religious minorities, and therefore poses a more potent threat than Sonia Gandhi. Kejriwal and Co.’s strings are held firmly by two hands – America and the Generic Church.

Prashant Bhushan, one of the founding members of the AAP was in TN recently for the stated purpose of persuading SP Udaykumar, former Christian priest, CSI Nellai, and the face behind the anti-Koodankulam protests in TN. Arvind Kejriwal visited SP Udayakumar in Idinthakarai in 2012 at the height of the violent protests by People’s Movement against Nuclear Power or PMANE. The names of the office bearers of the fledgling TN AAP speaks volumes of what the AAP is and what it is attempting to do in Indian politics: Ms. Christina Samy – State Convener of AAP, Co-Convener of AAP is M. Lenin, and the Youth Co-ordinator is one M. Hufeza. SP Udayakumar and his NGO wife run the South Asian Community Center for Education and Research (SACCER) Matriculation School which is funded almost wholly by the CSI and other foreign churches.

The blame for bringing upon the nation this calamitous political exhibitionist named Arvind Kejrowal must be laid squarely at BJP doors.

The BJP won 32 seats in the elections, four short of the requisite 36 to achieve a simple majority in the Assembly. The Congress crashed to 8 seats while the AAP won 28, which in case the BJP missed the point again, is 8 short of simple majority. In a remarkable coincidence nothing short of what may pass for a Christian miracle-before-sainthood, the AAP needed exactly the same number of seats which the Congress managed to win, in order for the AAP to form the government.

With immense self-righteousness the BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate proclaimed that the BJP would not indulge in horse-trading and perish the thought, would not break the AAP or the Congress. Instead, by abdicating its own responsibility to its voting constituency, the BJP also offered to help the Ford Foundation funded AAP to form the government by extending to the AAP issue-based ‘outside’ support (which issue exactly?!).

The BJP travelled a tortuous path to arrive at this convoluted morality which only facilitated the coming together of two self-proclaimed mutual enemies – Congress and Kejriwal; whereas had the BJP and even the RSS paid more attention to the writer’s persistent attempt to make them see the dangers of astronomical amounts of foreign money coming into the country, to the danger that Anna Hazare and Co. posed to the sovereignty of the nation, to the dangers of not articulating the character, contours and content of the Hindu nation, the RSS would not have seen merit in Anna Hazare nor sent a high-level RSS functionary to meet Anna Hazare carrying with him a letter of support from the RSS, nor would the RSS have allowed the AAP to form the government in Delhi. (http://www.vijayvaani.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?aid=1722)

The BJP missed the point for the third time with disastrous consequences not for itself, but for the Hindu nation when it facilitated the AAP-Congress partnership despite the fact that the AAP rose in public life on the levitating gas generated by its anti-Congress fulmination. Notwithstanding the fact that the AAP was spitting on its face, the Congress briskly wiped Kejriwal’s spittle off its face, made common cause with AAP to send out the all-important political signal that Modi Magic can be nullified by the combined power of political mercenaries and installed Kejriwal as Chief Minister of Delhi; in the process it achieved its secondary objective of keeping the BJP out. Deja vu.

Just so did Nehru become Prime Minister, first as Prime Minister of the Interim Government in 1946 and then in August 1947. Remember Gandhi’s infamous proclamation that Hindus cannot claim this nation to be theirs and that he can contrive a political majority of non-Hindus to relegate Hindus to minority status? Wilfully blind or with sinister intent, depending on who we are and how we judge Gandhi, this is what Gandhi told a group of domestic and foreign journalists in 1942 after coining his “Quit India” slogan:

Free India will be no Hindu-raj, it will be Indian-raj based not on the majority of any religious sect or community but on the representatives of the whole people without distinction of religion. I can conceive a mixed majority putting the Hindus in a minority. Religion is a personal matter which should have no place in politics.

The writer is reminded of Aurobindo’s words, “politics is the work of the kshatriya”; so to burden politics with the morality of a saint which is different from the morality of a kshatriya, is not only foolish but suicidal. The writer is also reminded of how Sardar Patel withdrew his candidature for President of the INC in 1946 simply because Gandhi asked him to, because Gandhi wanted Nehru as Prime Minister. The writer in an earlier article had described Anna Hazare as being truly Gandhian; if Nehru owed his rise to Gandhi, Kejriwal owes his rise to Anna Hazare. So let the country begin to ask the following questions in chronological order –

1. What did Gandhi really achieve in South Africa?

2. Why was it important for him to return to India not simply as a politically ambitious man but as a ready-made Mahatma?

3. Why did it have to be only Gandhi after Gokhale and only Nehru after Gandhi?

4. Who or which forces pulled Anna Hazare from out of the closet and stood him up as the straw-man in the field?

5. How did Ford Foundation hit upon Aruna Roy and why did Aruna Roy pick Arvid Kejriwal first as instrument to agitate for RTI and later to be positioned around Anna Hazare for Jan Lok Pal?

6. Who conceived of the plot involving sundry Magsaysay awardees and IIT alumni, including Aruna Roy, Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi to constitute Anna Hazare’s thinking head?

7. And isn’t it another miracle-before-sainthood that in identical fashion, just as Gandhi propelled Nehru to the forefront and Hazare propelled Keijriwal, both Gandhi and Anna Hazare play missile launchers and feign(ed) helplessness as the missiles acquire(d) their own dynamics?

The BJP, for its part should ask itself why Kejriwal and Co., in typical Gandhi style have usurped the Hindu Nationalist slogan “Bharat Mata ki Jai’. At least now, in 2014, four years after the writer’s book Eclipse of the Hindu Nation was published in 2009, the BJP should know that Gandhi usurped concepts, names and ideas associated with the three persons whom he had been mandated to diminish and dislodge from the political arena - Tilak, Aurobindo and Savarkar. America through the instrument of the Ford Foundation and expat IIT alumni abroad has launched Kejriwal only to de-stabilise the Modi juggernaut and you do not need the brains of a genius to see this. It is to be fervently hoped that the BJP and the RSS sit up now to take note of the dangers of anti-Hindu neo-Mahatmas and their mandated role to propel anti-Hindu neo-Nehrus.

The country may have to wait a few more years to get documented answers to these questions but until then the visibly distinct patterns of how since the Cold War years domestic events in countries are shaped by international forces led by America should suffice.

When Sardar Patel acquiesced to Gandhi and did not contest against Nehru for Presidentship of the INC, Sardar Patel, as much as Nehru, became instrumental in burdening the country with Nehru as first Prime Minister; the damage caused by Nehru to the Hindu Nation with his virulent anti-Hindu secularism is comparable only to the damage caused by Gandhi when Gandhi’s anti-Hindu political ideology gave away Hindu territory to the Muslim League. While Gandhi surrendered the nation’s territory to Abrahamic politics, Nehru mortgaged the nation’s mind to Abrahamic ideas.

Sixty-seven years after that fateful day in 1946, the BJP did a Patel; despite emerging as the single largest party in the Delhi elections, it refused to form the government and facilitated the rise of a man directly funded by America and Europe to become Chief Minister of Delhi. Kejriwal has admitted to the fact that not only did he receive funds from Ford Foundation but also from the Dutch Embassy! Why did Sonia Gandhi’s UPA allow foreign governments to directly fund NGOs in this country and why did the BJP remain silent until the RDX called America-controlled AAP blew in their faces?

The path-breaking book NGOs, Activists and Foreign Funds: Anti-Nation Industry published in 2006 by Vigil Public Opinion Forum described with painstaking detail how the Ford Foundation had penetrated and taken control of the World Social Forum, a giant international conglomerate of NGOs and professional political dissenters.

http://www.vigilonline.com/index.php?op ... mitstart=9

http://www.vigilonline.com/index.php?op ... itstart=10

In his brilliant chapter in the Vigil book on NGOs titled Scoring against Paganism: Untangling the Mander Web where DR. Kak with clinical precision unmasked Harsh Mander and Aruna Roy, Dr. Krishen Kak as early as 2006 pointed his finger directly at Arvind Kejriwal:

Consider another entity called Parivartan that explicitly states it is NOT an NGO. It is not registered under any Act as a society or a trust or a company. It is a people’s movement. For income tax purposes, it is an Association of Persons. Note that, for income tax purposes, an AoP is a coming together of persons with a profitmotive, and the members of an AoP (co-adventurers, in legal jargon) can have a share in the income of the AoP – unlike the members of a registered society who can have no such share. So who are the Parivartan AoP? Surely not its five full-time workers – they get salaries, and they include a serving government officer of the Indian Revenue Service. (http://www.vigilonline.com/index.php?op ... itstart=8>)

Had the BJP taken serious note of the book which shook the intelligence community in the country, the party would not have sounded quite so unctuous about not wanting to form the government in Delhi. The BJP’s self-righteous posturing about Sonia Gandhi’s foreignness and about the Mahatmahood of Anna Hazare allowed the rise of Sonia Gandhi in 1998 and the rise of Kejriwal in 2013.

The BJP and the RSS failed to see the dangers of Anna Hazare and the Magsaysay riff-raff surrounding him in the movement for Jan Lok Pal. In the first chapter of the Vigil book on NGOs the writer had exposed how there was nothing Asian about the Magsaysay awards and that it was the very American Rockefeller Foundation award aimed at Asians who may be tempted, lured or bribed to serve American interests and that a large part of the money component of the award came from the Ford Foundation. (http://www.vigilonline.com/index.php?op ... itstart=10)

America’s knives are out and aimed at Modi and if Modi must be Prime Minister in 2014, the BJP must begin to pay more attention to Aurobindo’s political writings prior to 1908 about knowing the enemy and employing the might of the kshatriya against the enemy. This means Modi’s war strategy must factor in not only the visible enemies at home but also the international forces behind his enemies.

Going by the fact that Narendra Modi has allowed America to build six nuclear reactors in Gujarat and the fact that the BJP has stood by and allowed the Ford Foundation to paratroop Arvind Kejriwal into the country’s political arena it is obvious the BJP has an inbuilt resistance to acting upon information and knowledge which can be used as ammunition against political adversaries. If proof were needed, see how the BJP took its eyes off Arvid Kejriwal and Co. and bayed for Justice Ganguly’s blood. Sonia Gandhi’s campaign against Justice Ganguly was the Congress’ third successful red herring, after Volcker and Mitrokhin to seduce the BJP’s focus away from the fish’s eye. The BJP chose to employ its lung power against Justice Ganguly when it ought to have exercised its mind power against Kejriwal.

Such is the lure of sirens peddling red herrings.

The writer undertook an in-depth scrutiny of NGOs and political activists when America refused to give visa to Narendra Modi (the organization which took credit for America’s action was Coalition against Genocide, yet another motley group of Muslim, Christian, Marxist anti-Hindu NGOs and political activists); and when Sonia Gandhi packed her National Advisory Council, Central Advisory Board on Education and the National Integration Council with Magsaysay awardees, Peace Prize awardees and foreign-funded shrill anti-Hindu political activists.

When the study revealed horrifying details about the quantum of foreign money being poured into India by foreign governments and government agencies besides monstrous funding agents like foreign churches, Ford Foundation, AID, and ActionAid ostensibly for social charity, a small group of determined Hindu nationalists came together to write the book on foreign funded NGOs and political activists. (http://www.vigilonline.com/index.php?op ... Itemid=109)

The World Social Forum (2001) which grew out of the violent anti-globalization protests in Seattle in 1999 was the coming together of NGOs and social activists opposed to the WTO which they correctly perceived as a neo-colonial, exploitative mechanism of the developed world against developing nations of Africa, Asia and Latin America. In the beginning, the WSF positioned itself as being as much against globalization, embodied by the WTO as it was against the three BIG forces which were driving the WTO – Big governments, Big capital and Big banks. In the end, the World Social Forum ended up as a bunch of greedy NGOs and activists who needed big money to become the second pole in America’s uni-polar World Order.

The three BIGs did not arrive at where they are because they were foolish and short-sighted, or because they listened to the small voices inside them called conscience or because they had large hearts overflowing with the milk of human kindness or because they were driven by idealism. They are where they are – ruling the world after arranging the world in hierarchical pecking order (aka World Order old and new) because they are consumed by desire for power - absolute power to rule the world absolutely with all and every weapon, covert and overt. The New World Order like the New Testament is only Old World Order, which like the Old Testament has only been redefined with new idiom.

The content is unchanging and universal – conquest through brute power; the methods are also the same, only the weapons are more sophisticated and more precise; the sophistication lies in the fact that while the weapon is visible, the hand wielding the weapon is invisible, or well concealed. The well-nuanced and sophisticated partnership between the CIA and Ford Foundation to achieve America’s geopolitical objectives is a case in point.

The CIA uses philanthropic foundations as the most effective conduit to channel large sums of money to Agency projects without alerting the recipients to their source. From the early 1950s to the present the CIA's intrusion into the foundation field was and is huge. A U.S. Congressional investigation in 1976 revealed that nearly 50% of the 700 grants in the field of international activities by the principal foundations were funded by the CIA (Who Paid the Piper? The CIA and the Cultural Cold War, Frances Stonor Saunders, Granta Books, 1999, pp. 134-135). The CIA considers foundations such as Ford "The best and most plausible kind of funding cover" (Ibid, p. 135). The collaboration of respectable and prestigious foundations, according to one former CIA operative, allowed the Agency to fund "a seemingly limitless range of covert action programs affecting youth groups, labor unions, universities, publishing houses and other private institutions" (p. 135). The latter included "human rights" groups beginning in the 1950s to the present. One of the most important "private foundations" collaborating with the CIA over a significant span of time in major projects in the cultural Cold War is the Ford Foundation. (http://globalresearch.ca/articles/PET209A.html)

The three BIGs have also perfected the skill of transforming every phenomenon, even adverse phenomenon to serve their agenda. The WTO had gathered at Washington State Convention and Trade Centre in Seattle for a fresh round of trade negotiations. America and other developed economies, the IMF and World Bank were taken by surprise at the mammoth gatherings outside hotels and the convention centre. It was estimated there were anywhere between 40,000 to 75,000 persons participating in the Great Seattle Protest of 1999.

The World Social Forum emerged from among the grassroots activists, organizations and thinkers who propelled the Seattle Protests. Seeing great potential in street protests and the simmering potential for street violence, America employed the CIA-Ford Foundation partnership to not only penetrate the WSF but also use the Ford Foundation’s money power to influence the WSF.

From the outset in 2001, the World Social Forum was funded by governments and corporate foundations, including the Ford Foundation which has ties to US intelligence.

The anti-globalization movement is opposed to Wall Street and the Texas oil giants controlled by Rockefeller, et al. Yet the foundations and charities of Ford, Rockefeller et al will generously fund progressive anti-capitalist networks as well as environmentalists (opposed to Wall Street and Big Oil) with a view to ultimately overseeing and shaping their various activities.

The mechanisms of “manufacturing dissent” require a manipulative environment, a process of arm-twisting and subtle co-optation of a small number of key individuals within “progressive organizations”, including anti-war coalitions, environmentalists and the anti-globalization movement. Many leaders of these organizations have in a sense betrayed their grassroots. ( Michel Chossudovsky, May 15, 2013, http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-anti-g ... le/5335181)

A similar umbrella organization of NGOs, religious minority groups and organizations, and political activists began to take shape in India in the aftermath of the Ayodhya movement in 1992. Three major movements in the 1990s decade brought this essentially anti-Hindu group together – the Ayodhya movement, the anti-Enron Corporation/anti-Coca Cola movement and the Narmada Bacchao Andolan brought together a motley group of activists of all persuasions who constituted themselves in 1996 as National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM). The quite marked anti-Hindu orientation of these NGOs became pronounced after India’s second nuclear tests in 1998 at Pokhran which this NGO conglomerate described loosely as the Hindu Bomb and cemented itself as America and Europe funded and supported megalithic human rights industry.

The CIA-Ford Foundation partnership was one of America’s most potent weapons against target countries not only because it combined state power with big money but also because it was America’s concealed weapon and a weapon which could be camouflaged to suit the context. Anna Hazare was one such weapon crafted to blunt Baba Ramdev’s explosive campaign against corruption. (http://globalresearch.ca/articles/RUP401A.html)

Kejriwal has admitted to receiving foreign funds not only from the Ford Foundation adn the Dutch Embassy but some several other sources.

In reply to an RTI query that questioned the funding and expenditure of Kabir, the organisation has disclosed that they have received funds from the Ford Foundation (Rs 86,61,742), PRIA (Rs 2,37,035), Manjunath Shanmugam Trust (Rs 3,70,000), Dutch Embassy (Rs 19,61,968), Association for India’s Development (Rs 15,00,000), India’s friends Association (Rs 7,86,500), United Nationals Development Programme (Rs12,52,742) while Rs 11,35,857 were collected from individual donations between 2007 to 2010.

The writer has consistently maintained that America has always used migrants and its expat populace to serve American interests in the target country. America has used expat Iraqis against Saddam Hussein, expat Cubans against Fidel Castro, expat Egyptians against Hosni Mubarak and is now using expat Indians, especially the IIT alumni living on American soil to dislodge Modi from the race for Prime Minister in the 2014 general elections. It is this community – deracinated NRIs and PIOs in American universities and other professions and the expat IIT alumni – which has put up Arvind Kejriwal as the man who will play spoiler. http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp ... 556024.ece

The CIA-Ford Foundation has set about the task of keeping Modi out with precision planning and execution. With great foresight the Ford Foundation has funded not only NGOs but also Indian think tanks. The writer recalls a lengthy conversation she had with the spokesperson of the RSS in 2007 how not only NGOs but also Indian think-tanks are funded by the same American foundations and European funding agencies. Two such renowned Indian think-tanks aka research organizations to receive grants from the Ford Foundation are the Delhi-based Centre for Policy Research and Centre for the Study of Developing Societies or CSDS.

In classic Generic Church war tactic of playing both sides of any war, one of the leading lights from CSDS is now the ideologue of the AAP and the thinking head of this party while another lady from the CSDS has moved smartly into the Modi camp with a series of panegyric articles about Gujarat under Modi. The same lady held a conference on J&K in Delhi with known Kashmiri jihadis and secessionists in full attendance and as principal speakers in the conference.

It is not just Prashant Bhushan of the AAP who has an agenda on J&K; America too has a definite agenda on J&K and the web it has spun through the Ford Foundation funded CSDS will trap Modi too if the RSS, the BJP and Narendra Modi do not see the web and the almost invisible spider waiting watchfully for the prey to walk into the parlour.

Narendra Modi should open his eyes and mind wide enough to get a measure of the forces arraigned against him within and without the country. The RSS and the BJP ignored the threat from Anna Hazare and Kejriwal. It is their responsibility now to neutralise the threat to Modi.

While we in India have scholar diplomats the US has soldier diplomutts.
That possibly explains two things:
1) Their downhill acceleration in the international arena.
2) Their stupid involvement in Iraq, Libya, and their impending failure in Afghanistan. Hope they realise the cause and effect theory: Of their diplomutts actions leading to increasing body bags and debt.

Not surprising that Alicia May's fb page is broken. They have a lot to hide. I wouldn't be surprised if all their diplomutts fb pages are being reviewed and taken down/or suitably changed.

I hope we take this forward in a cool, logical but hard hitting way.

@Chetak

The current Govt. are the Congis. Let us see if the BJP reacts and acts, and forces the congis to take the DK episode to an honourable end. And not use it for winning brownie points. And I find the use of the word Dalit, in the DK episode, tasteless and unnecessary. One of the Macaulayite strategies to break us and rule us. We are all Indians first and Indians last.

My POV: is that the NDA also let us down, particularly at Kandahar. As for Kejriwal, he has no relevance to this thread. My jury is still out as to his performance and intent.

One thing is that with this the "unfortunate" diplomats here lost more privileges in the bargain.Probably did not expect such a sharp response. They now have to look left and right before crossing Nyaya marg.

Implement, coordinate, tackle: Florrie Burke

Human Trafficking Menace

By Bikash Sarmah

GUWAHATI, December 7: Human trafficking is a huge issue when it comes to protecting human rights and ensuring the physical, emotional and psychological health of the affected lot. Trafficking of human beings, especially children and women, is dastardly basically in the sense that it robs them of their dignity and hope of a life free of fears and full of freedom. The problem is gargantuan.

Meet Florrie Burke from the US, who happens to be a leading consultant on human trafficking and modern–day slavery to both governmental and non–governmental agencies. With a decade–and–a–half of specialized experience, she is a leading expert on the victim–centred approach in human trafficking and collaborative efforts of criminal justice actors and victim care providers.

Burke was in Guwahati to attend a conclave on human trafficking organized by the American Centre, Kolkata at the NEDFi House.

Speaking exclusively to The Sentinel on the sidelines of the conclave, Burke said, ‘‘The main focus should be on women and children who are trafficked. Even there are people who are trafficked from India to the US. In general, men are trafficked for labour, while women are trafficked for domestic help.’’

How to solve this menace? Burke had a pragmatic answer: ‘‘The challenge is implementation and coordination. The problem in India is due to its huge size. As for Northeast India, it is a function of location too. These ought to be addressed.’’

When this writer asked her about the imperatives of the day in relation to human trafficking and other associated issues, Burke said, ‘‘Apart from connectivity in Northeast India, the two other weapons to fight human trafficking are education and opportunities to work. Economic uplift is a must. When people have opportunities to work, based on their skills evolved through education, trafficking will come down.’’

Harping on the international scenario, Burke said, ‘‘In the US, the anti–trafficking work is a job in progress. I am extremely happy with what President Barack Obama has done in this regard. He is doing a great job. I am completely thrilled. After Abraham Lincoln, it is only Obama who has spoken out as stridently as possible against modern–day slavery. Nonetheless, implementation of the anti–modern–day–slavery schemes holds the key.’’

When this writer asked her about the situation in the Af–Pak region, she said, ‘‘It is dangerous. Quite fragile. The media is not portraying the real story of human trafficking in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The media can be a great friend in our endeavour to fight the terror of human trafficking. But the media should not sensationalize any issues. There is also the issue of child soldiers, who are most vulnerable.’’

Burke has a humble suggestion for the Government of India: ‘‘Let there be a system for coordination among the various State governments and the Centre so that a pragmatic road map could be prepared and implemented. Let there also be a mandate for the people at large to deliberate and develop a strategy and action plan to counter human trafficking in India. The people must participate in the whole exercise.’’

One hopes that with the sane and sagacious suggestions by Florrie Burke, a veteran in the domain of anti–trafficking (human), the State governments of the Northeast would be pro–active and do the needful. This is of special importance.
Florrie Burke got a medal from Kerry back in 04-2013

Why doesnt Ms Burke concentrate on human trafficking in US which is a $20B industry?

Oakland just put up huge bill boards about the menace.

Devyani case: Washington snubs contract witnesses
NEW DELHI: Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade agreed to pay $ 9.75 per hour (for a 40-hour week) to her housekeeper, Sangeeta Richard and the maid insisted on getting a contract signed to ensure part payment of her salary to her unemployed husband here. These are some of the statements made by contract witnesses who have voluntarily deposed following the uproar over the Khobragade case.

According to government sources, the US deliberately chose to ignore the contract witnesses even when they were available. One of them says in her statement that she had warned Khobragade that she was "setting a new benchmark" in agreeing to pay Rs 30000 to Sangeeta in India. Another, who visited Khobragade's home in New york, recalls how Sangeet?a had the luxury of going to sleep at 9pm and sent expensive gifts to her family in India through her.

The two contract witnesses insist that Sangeeta was very happy with the contracts signed. Another house guest says Sangeeta had work only in the mornings after which she could take it easy.

The total at $ 9.75 per hour for 40 hrs a week worked out to be 1560 dollars. India has argued that a part of this (Rs 30,000) was being paid in cash in India and the remaining in cash and kind in the US.

Devyani Khobragade's father wants India to take tough steps
On Sunday, it will be a month since Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade was arrested in New York on charges of visa fraud. Her father Uttam Khobragade, though happy with Devyani’s safe return, is still an angry man who is determined to get justice for his daughter and wants the Indian government to take tough reciprocal steps after Devyani was indicted by a court in the US and Washington asked her to leave.

“The US took action against Devyani even when it had no jurisdiction as the ‘fabricated’ case involved Indian citizens in a territory that is deemed India. So, why can’t India take tough steps against the visa official who while sending Sangeeta Richard’s family waived off tax using his diplomatic card? By that action, he deprived India of tax — by act of impersonation — and thus he is liable to be prosecuted under Indian law,” Uttam told dna in an interaction at Maharashtra Sadan in the national capital where he is staying with his daughter Devyani who reached India on Friday.

Devyani’s father also said that the first step of getting her back has been achieved and the focus is now on getting the charges against her dropped. “There is a precedent in the history when the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had achieved this. It can be done again,” he added.

Uttam also said that as of now Devyani’s husband and children are in the US but may return after some time. “Devyani’s daughter is going to school and we don’t want to dislocate her in middle. But if things continue, they all will come back,” he explained.

No. What better punishment to the beach to stay put in "filthy" India amongst vegetarians without her mofossil husband.

Agree that any and all non consular activities and privileges need to be stopped effective immediately. And same extended to other embassies (at Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad).

Of course, MEA continues to emphasis that there is no standoff with US but just rebalancing the reciprocity of privileges.

Slightly amusing story that Preet Bharara embarrassed himself by making a false statement to the court that DK has departed while she was till in NY.

He goofed up, and this is what the DK's lawyer said:

"Bharara's goof up about Khobrgaade leaving the country is "emblematic of the series of blunders which has contributed to the false charges brought against her".

"The truth is, and the prosecutor's office well knows it, that Dr Khobragade was in the country when Preet Bharara falsely claimed otherwise. Why would they make that up? Where is the apology? This was just another in a string of mistakes," Arshack said.

(Apparently Preet Bharara falsely informed the court that DK "departed" from the US after being indicted (but the DK was still in the country at that time)

(Also my suspicion that he will take a coward's way and use a grand jury was correct. This act by PB was really disgraceful and shown the real ill will . Those who do not know grand jury (which AFAIK very few countries use now) is used when prosecutor has a very weak case ..Grand juries are notorious for being ‘rubberstamps’ for the prosecutor for virtually all routine criminal matters... let me just quote from
legal encyclopedia cite
Unlike a preliminary hearing, held in court with the defense side present, the grand jury does not make its decision in the context of an adversary proceeding. Rather, grand jurors see and hear only what prosecutors put before them.
In part because there’s no one on the "other side" to contest the prosecutor’s evidence, grand juries almost always return an indictment as requested by the prosecutor. According to a U.S. Department of Justice study on plea bargaining, “”
Where they have a choice, prosecutors often prefer grand juries because grand jury proceedings are secret. When prosecutors file an information, they are usually required to convince a judge in a public preliminary hearing that they have enough evidence to secure a conviction. This high burden is not present at a grand jury proceeding, where the prosecutor has to prove that there's only "probable cause" to believe that a crime occurred and the target of the proceeding comitted it. Also, during a preliminary hearing, the defendant can see and cross-examine prosecution witnesses, which gives them a good preview into the prosecution's case.
Any way per report..In a letter accompanying the indictment, Bharara wrote to US District Judge Southern District of New York, Shira Scheindlin, that it is his understanding that Khobragade has been accorded diplomatic immunity status and has left the country.

"We understand that the defendant was very recently accorded diplomatic immunity status and that she departed the United States today," Bharara said.

However, DK was still in the US on Thursday afternoon. She took a plane back to India Thursday night.

Bharara's office later did down-hill skiing and issued a clarification saying Khobragade was still in the US and it had been "advised" by the State Department that Khobragade was to have left the United States "this afternoon" :rotfl: .(so PB was careless making the statement)

Khobragade's lawyer Daniel Arshack slammed Bharara for the "false statement this afternoon" about Khobragade's whereabouts and demanded an apology.

He said Bharara's goof up about Khobrgaade leaving the country is "emblematic of the series of blunders which has contributed to the false charges brought against her".

"The truth is, and the prosecutor's office well knows it, that Dr Khobragade was in the country when Preet Bharara falsely claimed otherwise. Why would they make that up? Where is the apology? This was just another in a string of mistakes," Arshack said.

(DK's departure time from US was kept secret, and it was not announced till DK left US airspace..India issued her a new passport instead of collecting her passport which was taken away from here and was in court's custody - They did not want PB to play any game and harass her on her way out)

Preet bharara is just the fall guy.The hitjob was approved at kerrorist level.human trafficking is a serious issue.I remember a hindu report about andhra girls in great demand in TN as comfort persons and particularly those of light skin colour.Theres much thats wrong with India.

if one is fluent in english and goodlooking like nidhi razdan one becomes an expert on all matters under the sun.The english press will never speak out against US given they are basically english speaking well paid coolies. There is US and Congress investment in Undie TV,Toilet,CNN-IBN.If one has an inflated sense of self worth which comes from a half baked view that sets the english speaking class(with no other qualification) apart from others, why would they speak out against US?This is a lacuna in our polity because we speak so many languages and generally given our cultural values,we look down on soft humanities, journalism etc?

The US looks at india as an artificial entity and GOI as a hegemon thwarting US designs for South Asia.

Only a full fledged Hindu nationalism can counter US designs. Its upto us to support NaMo or we deserve the contempt we get.

BTW,Sujatha Singh is daughter of TV Rajeshwar, former head of IB.Also Kerrorist(like Halfbright) comes from a catholic family converted from judaism.Talk of the zeal of the new convert.
