Why Kiran Bedi is being cited as potential CM candidate. Why not work just as simple MLA first and prove your credentials. Delhi requires a CM who is in synch with Namo and BJP party. Enough of outsiders like MMS, Nikeni etc.
Smriti Irani and Meenakshi Lekhi have better credentials than KB anyday.
Atleast they has walked the talk and Smriti took on the empire in their own Vatican. Till yesterday KB was mocking parliament and parliamentarians along with AH and AK. Now that Namo is toast of the town, so suddenly
there is new found love.
I personally would not second her as CM of Delhi. Too much of vested interests and not much is known about her Hindu moorings. For me, if you want to be the leader of BJP party, wear your Indic Culture on the sleeves now.
All I know about her state of mind is thru her tweets..

Anyways she hasn't done anything impressive in last few years to deserve direct elevation to CM of Delhi.
Kejri with all his flaws could collect crowd in initial days of AH agitation and run a political party all on his on charisma.

Whatever be the merits or demerits of her joining BJP or becoming CM of Delhi - that article posted above about her and issues presented all seem a list of angst against her. It would show her more as a non-conformist than anything else. The only sore point is about the NE Quota seat - well, lot of people use it. It cannot be a stick to beat her with. Her going against establishment is not same as Naxalites who go against state and establishment.

On her being CM candidate - well, all depends on the party. But we need to understand that inspite of one's best intentions, politics is a dirty business and she needs to be ready for it. Secondly, she needs to be read to absorb core BJP ideology. I don't want her to turn around and say she joined because she believed in mantras of development and growth but finds herself at odds with issues like Ram Mandir or UCC or Article 370 or other aspects related to Indian culture which we hope will find space when NM takes charge.

niran ji,

you confirm what I had suspected - that Kiran Bedi did not jump into politics on the side of Modi due to some sort of pressure on her. It did show her cowardice, but one doesn't know what was the nature of pressure, if her family was being threatened, etc...

But since before the elections, Kiran Bedi has spoken in favor of Modi, through the media and through social media. She has also shown to be spiritually Hindu, having contacts with Sri Sri, etc.

Also after Delhi elections and before AAP made its govt. in Delhi, she was busy on the side of Anna Hazare, trying to get the Lokpal Bill through Parliament, and thus she took away a good bit of AAP's agenda from them.

I think BJP needs a two-pronged strategy to counter AAP. One: do heavy canvassing of Dalit votes in Delhi, door-to-door campaigning and secondly use someone like Kiran Bedi to deflate Arvind Kejriwal in front of Delhi's middle class.

i do think, she can work quite well with NaMo.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Meenakshi Lekhi, Smriti Irani are all in Parliament, and they should remain there. I don't like people being shifted to national and state level arbitrarily. If BJP wanted to have Dr. Harsh Vardhan as Delhi CM, what was the need to have him stand in elections as an MP candidate. BJP could have chosen someone else.

Even with Smriti Irani, having her run in multiple elections so soon after the other, sounds funny. She has done her bit in Amethi and she should be given some rest.

BJP should put up good candidates and run a +ve campaign, avoiding any free publicity to Bane.

imo AAP will likely fall from 28 to <5 given the repeated and tiresome theater with zero results.

Between Delhi Elections 2013 and Lok Sabha Elections 2014, AAP vote share in Delhi increased from 29.3 % to 32.9 %, though it could not win even a single LS seat.

But the increase was there!

Could a possible line of campaign in Delhi for BJP be "As there is a `BJP govt at the centre it would be easier to solve Delhi's problems if they elected BJP at the Assembly level".?

It was sahib singh verma's greed that destroyed Delhi BJP which was flourishing under Madal Lal Khurana, who had won over the public with two promises:

1.) All the houses will be allowed to make extra 3rd floor and also they'll be made 'freehold' so each house can be sold to many people floorwise.

2.) Promise of Metro and flyovers.

by the way

One promise that can win BJP 90% seats in Delhi is:

"BJP will allow all the housing societies to demolish more than 20 year old buildings and built 10 story high rises allowed to make 3 time more flats than already existing in that society"

This will bring much needed more houses + also bring the prices in Delhi down due to over-availability. 8)

Many Housing Societys' federation have met kasai sibal over last 5 years and he kept on promising to bring a law on these lines but didn't do anything. So congis got zilch from flat owners too.

Nitish Kumar has really acted quickly after May 16th result. Within a week he has been able to install a puppet CM - Manjhi and that too with the help of Lalu Prasad Yadav. All has been done before NaMo could take over power and thus get control over Bihar Governor's decisions.

Well done!

But this only means the elections in Bihar would be held when they are due, but this handshake between Nitish and Lalu would also mean that whenever they take place, both would be drowned. Lack of governance would be writ large on Bihar govt.'s profile.

IMO that is because in Assembly elections people had still lent ears to small time regional parties, Congress etc.
But not only next elections were Lok Sabha, but Congress was openly declared dead everywhere.
Between the two elections, what was lost by Congress and others .. went to AAP.
Now that we'll be back to Assembly elections, small parties would be back in picture and fight harder this time.

^^The same kind of argument was put up by congi CM candidate hkl bhagat and his team ridiculing Shri Khurana's promise that "Have you thought of how much pressure it'd put up on the sewage-gutter system of Delhi? Have you factored in that?"

Pat came the answer from Sh. Khurana "We'll use the stamp-duty money from these sales of floorwise houses and create much better sewage for Delhi", and by the blessings of Mahadev they did. :D

Imagine a 200 house society doubling up 400 houses capacity, there stamp-duty registration money can buy the best Mono-Rail and Metro systems plus more flyovers!

Actually if govt allows high rise by asking the plot owners to surrender lands abutting the roads and using UG Parking lots in Basements that would create roads of required width and enough parking space. On Road parking could be banned. Pooling of Land could be done and owners could share highrise in pro-rata basis. One can put ceiling depending on the obtainable road width and UG parking lots. Don't allow vehicles below certain emission limits and ban some type of vehicles. Create drop zones for cars, not requiring parking, without obstructing flow of traffic. The most of the congestion comes from vehicles obstructing the road, improper driving and being parked on the road meant for free flow traffic. Of course you need stringent traffic rules and strict enforcement and for that you need Traffic police and proper training and motivation.

Idea may not sound so horrific if you think of solutions.

As per one bong daily,
there are thousands of members of CPM, INC, TMC willing to join BJP apart from those who left BJP in the last few years for greener pasture. To take these turncoats, state BJP has drafted a strong letter which includes promise to work for the party first before asking for any plum post. They have to first prove they loyalty for some time by doing hard work.
....Similarly, KB should be asked to do a lot of organizational work first before she can dream of getting any suitable post. Otherwise, it'll be the recipe for demoralizing the sincere party cadres.

Gloves are off in Congress as leaders openly target Rahul for poll debacle
CNN-IBN | May 23, 2014 at 07:57pm IST

New Delhi: Dissent brewing within the Congress party after the crushing defeat in Lok Sabha elections is out in the open with senior party leader Shankar Sinh Vaghela slamming Rahul Gandhi saying he did not connect with the masses.

Vaghela, the Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly, on Friday lambasted the Gandhi scion for the party's humiliating defeat in the elections. He also said that one should not blame Rahul's election team as its members were picked up by him only.

Several Congress leaders have been expressing their views but Vaghela is the first to openly slam the party Vice President. Earlier in the day, senior leader Shashi Tharoor too trained his guns on the party saying that communication is a must and party leaders should be allowed to speak freely. "There is a reticence within Congress, even I was not allowed to speak," he confessed.

Dissent has been brewing amongst Congressmen but Vaghela is the first to openly slam the party Vice President.

Vaghela also dismissed the idea of bringing in Priyanka Gandhi saying that there was no use of forcibly bringing her into active politics.

Why this fascination with KB ? What really has she done to be offered post of Delhi CM on a platter when BJP had so many karyakarta's facing Sheila govt for past 15 years but keep the Lotus flag flying high and now when the time is to reap the harvest, KB's name is being proposed.
KB was part of Ak's and AH's drama all along till Kejri parted ways and started his own drama company.

Even Namo wasn't a big name in Gujarat in 2001 nor was SSC or for that matter Raman Singh yet they proved their worth in Gold.
Is BJP still so weak in Delhi that they have to bring in a complete outsider like KB about whom no one knows if people of Delhi would vote for.

Shamlee ji: IMO There is a difference between running a MNC and a state. The new CEO need not buy into the ideology of the company as he gets to run the organization as per his/her vision whereas to run a govt, one has to buy into core ideological beliefs of the party and acceptance by the MLA's.
