congrats br folks... when i was searching for indian nuke related items on google and got a cache of discussion of br forum - during 1999/2000. Found this website. I was off and on. Nice place where one can easily get adicted.

A few things striked me was whatever happens to good old discussions - who does the archive? Is there any read-only links from BR to those archives.

I also felt many good threads are found but sometimes only fewer posts relates. A summary of the thread discussion by admin or thread creator before it is closed would be great. Of course, no use if it ain't to be archived. Why I felt about the archive necessity was there goes a great deal of time into thoughts for writing them and can't be fetched later. It also preserves the forum history in a lively form.

I am also amazed at the technical and political knowledge level of the forum members. May be this is true with all Indians.

Its more than BR for its content - example the history and current affair forum.

Rakesh,

Al tbe best for the future. If it makes you feel good about BR, you should know that all the IAF boys I talked to on my latest trip home were very glad to hear about the site, its progress and so on. I sensed a certain pride that comes from knowing that someone is backing them up. I'm not sure they feel that way vis-a-vis the press (certainly not the MiG-21 pilot who bitterly complained about the language used for his jet in the papers!)

Cheers,
Samir

Rakesh, I know how you feel about quitting. After years working on my site I found the excitement wearing off and the feelings of lethargy and motivation being problematic.

But I could never stop cause the daily diet of Bharat Rakshak Forum is addictive and reduces stress of everyday life.

BTW everyone I am searching for Indian war movies which I might have missed here http://users.senet.com.au/~wingman/hkk.html

Movies not only on the major wars but can also be about Pakistans proxy war against us. Anything that has footage of soldiers, tanks, planes.

I am also interested in old movies like Burma Rani(1945), Manasamrakshanam and En Magan. In Burma Rani, three Indian airmen were forced to land in Burma and eventually free the country from Japanese occupation with the help of Indian resistance movement in the state. The plot revolves around a Rani (an Indian girl in Burma) who helps the airmen. T.R.Sundaram played the role of a Japanese commander made-up to look like Hitler.

The good thing about Bharat Rakshak is that the webmasters will change but the site will live on forever.

Nakul:

Another movie with a WWII background "Andha naal" (That Day) a Sivaji Ganesan starrer. He is an anti-hero spy for the Japanese in it. No songs at all in this movie and it was one of his earliest ones. Quite a gripping story line and he IIRC he calls on the radio guiding japanese bombers to bomb Madras ( The High Court compund was destroyed in an actual bombing by the Japs during the war)

There was a movie called Jai/joy Bangladesh which came in 1972/73. It was one of those quickie ones, made by I S Johar, but was quite a hit movie. Movie was about 1971 war and the heroine was some Chaudhri from Bangladesh.

If I recall correctly, there was another movie called Lalkaar, made by Ramanand Sagar. Stg. Dharmendra, Mala Sinha.

Added later...

One more movie that comes to mind is called Saat Hindustani. It was Amitabh Bachan's first movie and was made by Khawaja Ahmed Abbas. It was about liberation of Goa from Portuguese. Not sure if this movie will fit your criteria of war movie.

have decided to take a bow and leave Bharat Rakshak. We all need change in our lives from time to time
Likely story :D

I too have been planning such tearful farewells etc. for a long time - like today when I tagged along to Supreme HQ's workplace bright and early, imagining that the absence of web access would let me get a lot of things done while she gets some urgent stuff done ... it turns out that web access here is so fast that I can visit all these threads that I have not had time to visit before.

Should we nae tighter draw the knot

How comes it, then, my worthy friend,

BR is a tribute to our Great Country. The sense of community among the thousand tongues that visit BR is truly great. The abundant confidence and love will ensure, that despite difficulties, India will surge ahead.

I take this opportunity to whole heartedly thank the concievers of Bharat Rakshak for what they created. The fact that BR is so big, *important* and *helpful*, is a sign that God is with us.

Rakesh, thanks for doing what u did. No amount of praise is enough. Best of luck...

Also thanks to everyone else -- admins and forum members -- BR is going great guns and so is our country.

Thanks.

Well, hellooo.

I have been away for some time and look what happens, the BR anniversary.

How should I pay my tribute?
Well, I have been to foeums of a number of countries, and none of them matches up to the standard of BR in tems of quality (not wthstnding the occaisional fight :D ).
And so I say - If Bulletin Boards could win wars, we would be a superpower.

Well done Rakesh.
