Pakis ban 'immoral' condom advertisement
http://www.dawn.com/news/1206942
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Monday banned an advertisement by a condom brand, calling it “immoral” and contrary to religious norms after receiving a deluge of complaints from the public.
Pakistan is notoriously strait-laced when it comes to matters of sex and family planning is considered a taboo topic by many.
The condom company, Josh, was previously slapped with a ban two years ago after airing a humourous but risque advertisement featuring a leading model.
The advertisment features a large man approaching a roadside stall to ask for a small pack of condoms. He is followed by a second man, who grins widely as he requests a larger pack, all the while making a gesture with his hands that can be interpreted as lewd.
The entire street then breaks out in song and “bhangra” dance in celebration.
Fakhar-ud-Din Mughal, a spokesman for the Pemra, said the agency had received “scores of complaints against the telecast of an objectionable and indecent advertisement of contraceptive."
“Pemra, in its directive has pointed out that the advertisement is generally being perceived as indecent, immoral and in sheer disregard to our socio-cultural and religious norms,” he added.
Discussing contraception in public is considered taboo by a sizeable portion of the population, some experts warn the population is growing too fast for the country's natural resources to support it.
According to the United Nations, a third of Pakistanis have no access to birth control even though its population is growing by more than two per cent a year.
Josh condoms are marketed in Pakistan by DKT International, a US-based non-profit organisation that works to promote family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention in the developing world.

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the demand of Hockey India President Narender Batra for an apology, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Wednesday asked the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) to take stern action against their counterpart’s harsh statement.
Batra, in a press statement, had said that he would love to have Pakistani players in the Hockey India League (HIL) but not with the kind of behaviour they displayed in the Champions Trophy (CT) held last year in India.
Following the final hooter at the CT, Pakistani players made gestures towards the Indian fans at the Kalinga Stadium. But chief coach Shahnaz Sheikh later apologised for the incident. However, on Tuesday Batra asked for an apology by the PHF and made it clear that India won’t play Pakistan in a friendly series or IHL.
Talking to APP, newly-elected PHF Secretary Shahbaz Senior said on Wednesday that absolutely no apology would be given to Batra. “If they have an issue with PHF they should have sent it in writing, but this kind of conduct is totally intolerable.”
Shahbaz, who led his team to the 1994 Hockey World Cup victory, said Batra’s statement was completely against the spirit of sports and the FIH and AHF should take serious notice of it. “Sports are something in which players and athletes make friends all over and the country’s politics should be kept aside from this,” he said.
He further added that it looked very strange that Batra was demanding an apology now while the CT was held several months ago. “It is really disappointing and awkward,” said Shahbaz.
Shahbaz, who was also nicknamed as the Maradona of hockey during his playing days, said the PHF won’t give any in to India’s absurd demands as Shahnaz Sheikh has already apologized for the incident. “The PHF won’t go down for India,” he said.
Speaking about the internal hockey affairs, Shahbaz said, “We have requested the government for grant and hopefully will get it next week. We have sent the details to the government of the expenditures that will be needed for participation in different tournaments.”

Re: Bakistan: Emirate of New-clear Inquilabi States-Bojitiv
Looking back at Pakistan’s space history
The writer is a former Chairman of Suparco. He was the Project Director PAKSAT Project as well as BADR-1/B Satellite projects
Pakistan became the first Muslim country on July 16, 1990, to have launched its indigenously developed satellite into the earth’s orbit. It was an experimental satellite known as BADR-1 that successfully highlighted the potential of low-cost space hardware and techniques. Successful validation of design concepts and testing of technologies gave tremendous confidence to the mission objectives of the programme.
BADR-1 was a remarkable success story. A mission that was made possible by the vision and dedication of a few scientists and engineers committed to a low-cost satellite demonstration. The satellite performed as per design in all its modes of operation in orbit which had been completely simulated on site prior to the launch. This led to the tuning of the feasibility study for an earth observation satellite, which had been carried out earlier in 1986 to meet the updated needs.
The success of the very first satellite provided a tremendous boost to the confidence level of the technicians and the engineering personnel involved in the project. The satellite had been launched into an elliptical orbit and performance of the communication systems at apogee and perigee opened new avenues for future communication missions. Recently, a network named O3b has been launched into an elliptical orbit to provide broadband Internet connectivity through a constellation of eight satellites, four of which have already been launched.
BADR-1 was a free-flying mass of about 52 kilogrammes and was adequately equipped to meet telemetry and telecommand needs. Satisfactory performance had enabled the team to prepare for a follow-on satellite with more demanding goals. The follow-on satellite, known as BADR-B, was to carry a charged-coupled device (CCD) camera on-board for Earth imaging. This required a highly stable platform and earth pointing mechanism. Fortunately, the success of the first satellite had earned sufficiently reasonable reputation to attract the attention of the European Space Agency and the UK Space Agency’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratories to contribute to radiation dosimetery and depth of discharge experiments and CCD camera payload. This was a tremendous boost as no university or institute in the country was in a position to take part. This was an important step seeking international cooperation. Acquiring launch from the Russian Space Agency was also the first such initiative to materialise.
On the national level, prototyping of the honeycomb structure was carried out in cooperation with the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research laboratories, while PCBs were prepared by the National Institute of Electronics, and the National Silicon Institute was encouraged to do some solar cell testing. A software house from Karachi was contracted to develop the ground control and tracking system software. A comprehensive tracking, telemetry and telecommand station was set up in Lahore with the facility to acquire imaging data and tracking satellites in low earth orbits.
BADR-1 had been conceived in the wake of Pakistan’s communication satellite system, PAKSAT, and its main purpose was to train adequate manpower and develop necessary infrastructure to undertake the satellite project for domestic communication needs of the country. When the government showed its inability to support the PAKSAT project, a 10-year plan for in-house development of an earth observation satellite, an all weather remote sensing satellite and a low capacity communication satellite was presented. This plan was in line with the original objectives of human resources development, infrastructure augmentation, industrialisation and involvement of the academia in research and development. It is clearly understood that no progress could be made without taking control of your resources and making your own decisions. You can’t expect to make progress on borrowed technologies and products. Proper utilisation of trained manpower is therefore key to progress, integrity and national security.
We are fortunate that after more than 50 years, space holds the same fascination today and continues to do so in a more and more enchanting manner. Small satellites have become Cubesats, Nanosats and soon Picosats to catch the imagination of even schoolchildren. It is about time that Pakistani students at the college level, at least, were involved in such projects. On the other hand, small satellite systems are actively pursued for diverse concepts such as providing low-cost remote sensing data products at unprecedented revisit rates, and manifesting novel sensors as hosted payloads for national security and natural disaster mitigation.
Re: Bakistan: Emirate of New-clear Inquilabi States-Bojitiv
Plij to note that Baki satellite ij not sitting next to flying Indian satellite. It showj Baki munnaj are moving to Europe and Amrika in all weather. After launching satellites for domestic audience, munna will not request master to ban you-al-tube but will ban you-al-tube by own satellite with same facination oph imaging data. Notice "progress, integrity and national security".

Pakistan, China in pact to keep JF-17 tech away from US, India: report
China and Pakistan have a pact to keep the technology of their jointly developed JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft away from the United States and India because of its superiority to America's F-16 fighter jet, claims the Beijing-based Sina Military Network.
The Block II variation of the JF-17, known as the FC-1 Xiaolong by China, recently entered into service for the "Minhas" No. 2 squadron of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The new and improved configuration of the lightweight fighter jet is said to include improved avionics and better software, as well as a fixed air-to-air refueling probe.
Minhas is the third PAF squadron to be upgraded to the JF-17, which is expected to replace the F-7P, a Chinese-made fighter that can be equipped with C-802A anti-ship missiles.
The JF-17 features an aerodynamic shape similar to the US Navy's F/A-18 and is powered by a high fuel efficiency Russian RD-93 afterburning turbofan. The aircraft's flight performance is said to be far superior to that of second-generation fighters, with its climb rate, maneuvering speed and acceleration making up for a relatively low top speed of Mach 1.6.
While the RD-93 is not regarded as advanced given it was originally developed for the Soviet MiG-29 fighter, the engine is considered stable and reliable, with PAF air commodore Khalid Mahmood, head of the JF-17 sales and marketing team, adding that they have never experienced any problems with it after more than 7,000 hours of use.
Chinese engineers are reportedly continuing to look for ways to lighten the weight and streamline the aircraft. One new advancement is pairing an RD-93 with a so-called divergent supersonic air intake, which is said to be lighter, easier to maintain, and minimizes the JF-17's already low radar signals.
Recent photos of the JF-17 show the jet carrying two CM-400AKG high-speed air-to-surface missiles. Mahmood notes that the aircraft features flexible weapons stations that enables the JF-17 to be equipped with any weapon purchased on the open market.
Though the JF-17 can carry up to four SD-10 radar-guided air-to-air missiles, Mahmood states that the preference of the PAF is to use the space and weight for additional fuel tanks. The standard configuration of the JF-17 is therefore currently two SD-10s and two to three 1,000-liter external fuel tanks in addition to the 800-liter tank in the abdomen of the aircraft, he added.
According to the Sina Military report, expert comparisons between the JF-17 and the US F-16 have the Chinese-Pakistani aircraft dominating, adding that it is akin to a featherweight knocking out a heavyweight. The US has tried to get its hands on the JF-17 to analyze why that is the case but has been turned down by Pakistan because of a deal with China to never share the jet's technology with the US or India, the report added.

PESHAWAR: Security forces on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two individuals working for Indian intelligence agency RAW from Parachinar in Kurram tribal agency.
The alleged Indian agents were reportedly arrested on September 19, but presented in front of the media today.
The alleged RAW agents were arrested after an intelligence based operation (IBO) was carried out by security agencies.
Read: Muharram terror bid foiled as four ‘RAW-linked men’ arrested from Karachi: SSP
“During investigation the arrested individuals have confessed to working for the Indian agency RAW,” said Shahidullah, Assistant Political Agent of Kurram agency.
He further added that the arrested individuals were involved in terrorism related activities and sectarian attacks in Kurram agency.
“We also recovered $300 (Evil Baniya's not paying enough )and INR178,000 from them, including uniforms of the armed forces,” stated the assistant political agent of Kurran tribal agency.
Last week, Dawn newspaper reported that two alleged agents of the Indian intelligence agency RAW were arrested at Wagah.
Earlier in August, law enforcement agencies had claimed to have arrested four suspects linked to India's RAW spy agency Lahore.
The military’s top brass in May accused RAW of supporting terrorism in Pakistan. A previous ISPR statement on a meeting of the Corps Commanders held at the General Headquarters said: “The conference also took serious notice of RAW’s involvement in whipping up terrorism in Pakistan.”
While RAW has been blamed by Pakistani authorities in the past, it is unusual for a corps commanders’ conference to directly point fingers at the hostile intelligence outfit.

In private conversations military officers say that besides Balochistan, RAW’s footprints have been found in Fata and Karachi. Confessional statements of some criminals they had arrested recently, they said, point towards RAW’s growing activities. To support their claim they also refer to a statement made by Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval almost a year ago about the Indian strategy to weaken Pakistan by promoting terrorism and separatism.
Earlier this year, however, the government decided to take a tougher approach towards India and forcefully raise its concerns over alleged Indian involvement in acts of terrorism in the country. The change had been forced by Delhi’s continued terrorism allegations for building a narrative that India was a victim of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – While there are rumors of collapsing marriage of Pakistani cricketer turned politician Imran Khan and his TV anchor wife Reham Khan, a latest video shows the couple playing cricket at Banigala residence.
In a video uploaded at Imran Khan’s official page on Facebook several other people, said to be the family members, are playing cricket in the lawn of house.
Earlier Imran Khan took it to micro-blogging website Twitter to dismiss the reports about his weakening relationship with second wife Reham Khan. He termed all such reports as false and baseless.
The Kaptaan is an "expert" in dismissing any negative reports about him, such as when he was courting his current wife (in secret ) and when reports (which later were proven true ) surfaced in the tabloids, he denied it, as he had not officially informed his ex (Jemima) and his children.
Therefore, the "latest video" gimmick means nothing; who knows when the "happy event" was videotaped

Nothing Arabic, but interesting to see that this superior-Arab woman thinks that the stampede is because of "uneducated, uncouth motherfcukers". Serves the faith-fools everywhere right.

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while addressing a high-level roundtable on South-South Cooperation at the United Nations (UN) on Saturday announced that Pakistan is extending training and technical support to developing countries in a number of diverse fields.
Nawaz informed UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon and Chinese President Xi Jinping that Pakistan's Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad had been offering training facilities to African, Central Asian and other countries.
"Our Specialized Technical Assistance Programme for Africa dates back to 1986. It is an institutionalised and fully-funded programme," he said.
"Pakistan’s Programme for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation in Afghanistan was started in 2002 with a financial commitment of $385 million. It was scaled up to $500m in 2013," Nawaz told the audience.
Nawaz said Pakistan was actively engaged with regional organisations, including Saarc, Eco, ACD, and the D-8 "based on our vision to strengthen regional and economic integration."
He also said that as a consequence of trade liberalisation and enhanced connectivity, intra-south trade was now estimated to be over US $4 trillion.
"Investment flows to developing countries are on the rise. They account for over 50 per cent of the global Foreign Direct Investment. Almost a third originated from the South. This dynamism has vastly increased the scope for cooperation among our countries," he said.

Addressing Xi Jinping, PM Nawaz said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor "will bring huge economic and development benefits not just to our two countries, but the entire region and beyond."
He called it "an inspiring model of South-South cooperation, adding, "We greatly admire the vision underlying this initiative. This development strategy and framework offers new opportunities for Asia's transformation and prosperity."
"Enhanced South-South cooperation in trade, investment, human resource development, technology and financial resource generation is in our interest. This will ensure a prosperous future for our people," Nawaz told Xi Jinping.
He highlighted the role of the private sector in bolstering the economy, saying, "Business and private sectors also have an important role in promoting economic opportunities, innovation and high impact solutions."
"We support integration of South-South and triangular cooperation in the policies and strategic framework of UN Funds and Programmes," he said, adding that further strengthening of institutional support from the UN System would help maximise the impact of South-South cooperation.
"Such an approach will help sustain our development efforts and ensure enhanced participation of developing countries in the global economy, in conformity with the new Agenda."
