YouTuber Maridhas arrested again; tangled in a forgery case this time
An FIR was registered under sections pertaining to forgery, forgery on electronic medium and other charges under the IT Act.

CHENNAI: YouTuber Maridhas is in trouble again. The cyber-crime police in Chennai arrested Maridhas on Saturday in connection with a forgery case against a news channel. This comes after the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested him for his controversial post on social media regarding the chopper crash that killed India’s first Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and 12 others in Coonoor.

Now, the Youtuber was arrested in a pending case registered against him in July, 2020. The case was registered after a complaint from a media house that he forged an email and claimed it was sent from them. An FIR was registered under sections pertaining to forgery, forgery on electronic medium and other charges under the IT Act. The investigation officer confirmed the arrest and said Maridhas will be taken into custody and his family was informed.

Maridhas was earlier arrested after his tweet: “TN becoming another Kashmir under the DMK regime since it gave freedom to form groups that can do any level of treason against the country.” He lodged in Theni prison on Thursday. The tweet now stands deleted.

Regarding Chindu's headline naming CDS Rawat as Rawat and Chindu's styleguide, its very easy to verify by even a cursory Google search that they are lying. They pay full respect to the ranks of Paki officers (even lower ranked ones) in their headline while calling Indian officers with their last name.

So folks please debate the following new laws:
1) Linking Aaddhar to Voter ID on voluntary basis
2) Raising marriage age to 21 years for girls to match men.
3) Religious Anti-conversion bill in Karnataka.
Thanks.
PS: I see hardly any debate here.

The increasing of marriagable age as 21 for women have ruffled a few secular feathers :). I also like the approach of the seculars firing from the shoulders of Dalits & Adivasis ;).

1. Raising Girls’ Minimum Age Of Marriage Isn’t As Progressive As You Think
Early marriage tends to predominate in poorer communities. For instance, in the lowest wealth quintile, over 75% of girls get married below the age of 21. The poorest 20% of our population comprises largely of Dalit & Adivasi communities – with 45.9% belonging to ST households, 26.6% from SC households, compared to only 9.7% of the ‘General’ category. These households, who already face the brunt of societal violence and discrimination, will be further criminalised should the minimum age of marriage be enforced at 21.
2. 5 Reasons Changing The Minimum Age Of Marriage Is A Bad Move
The above article has very many similarities with the article posted above (#1). Some of the sections are verbatim.

What is surprising is that stringent sections of POSCO etc have been used against poor tribals (Hindus) in Wayanad Dt., Kerala with impunity. At that point none of these so called secular/progressive/liberal organisations came to their rescue. And now they are all jumping all around with their new found love for the poor & marginalised.
Tribal boys in Wayanad under POCSO threat
With cases rising under POCSO, a film in Kerala aims to warn tribals about perils of underage marriages

The root cause of this new secular angst seems to be possible impact of the same among the peaceful community.

I think this will be a good move
As the constitution discussion is the flavour of the month, I feel this would be what you would call a 'Preamble' to the much more of things to come
I was just wondering if this become the law, then can this be used as a wedge to open many doors like say Uniform Civil Code.
To counter the wokes and the rest of the 'floatsam and jetsam' the argument of 'Gender Neutral' law or equality to be used.
Though the peacefuls wont directly attack but would definitely try to fire from the shoulders of Poor/Dalit/Tribals
Now the other arguments I feel they could put forth would be raising crime rate of 'Rape' and/or raising levels of Premarital/Extramarital affairs leading to destruction of the social fabric of the society

2) Raising marriage age to 21 years for girls to match men.
Call me "sikular" (and somewhat playing the devil's advocate here) but this is pretty stupid imo.
For starters, voting age is 18 years in India. So somehow you're old enough to select who runs the country but you're a child when it comes to selecting a life partner?
Cabinet clears push to raise marriage age of women from 18 to 21
Wednesday’s clearance is based on recommendations submitted to Niti Aayog in December 2020 by the Centre’s task force, headed by Jaya Jaitly, which was constituted to examine “matters pertaining to age of motherhood, imperatives of lowering MMR (Maternal Mortality Rate), improvement of nutritional levels and related issues”.
Yeah because nutritional levels can be magicallly improved by spending an additional 3 years on earth. And regarding MMR;

Maternal mortality
Why do women die?
The major complications that account for nearly 75% of all maternal deaths are (4):
  • 1) severe bleeding (mostly bleeding after childbirth)
    2) infections (usually after childbirth)
    3) high blood pressure during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia)
    4) complications from delivery
    5) unsafe abortion.
Regarding "age of motherhood" if the idea is that 18 year olds are under equipped for parenthood (something I agree with), then 21 year olds are similarly not ready. You don't spend 3 years in college and suddenly learn the ins and outs of mystical world of parenthood. How about raising it to 27-28 when you've seen the job market, paid your bills for a few years and have more or less decided what you want to do in life?

i don't think we need such stupidity in desh; motherhood and it's complications would be resolved when our GDP per capita is sufficiently high and people (especially girls) are aware of the complications regarding reproduction.

If this was done is US, everyone would be laughing at the SJWs in control of policy making and their wokeness.

The Indianexpress article also says
It has also sought access to schools and universities for girls, including transportation in the case of educational institutes in far-flung areas.

The committee has further recommended that sex education be formalised and introduced in the school curriculum.
Imo this should've been the focus of new laws and not some half wit idea of raising legal age of marriage.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said: “.... There are imperatives of lowering MMR as well as improvement of nutrition levels. Entire issue about the age of a girl entering motherhood needs to be seen in this light.”

I think BJP is testing waters. Momos will find it very difficult to oppose this idea of 21 years for marriage. GoI is giving health and woman "empowerment" as the reasons for this move. Religious rights are not over above the public health. That is very clearly provided in the Indian Constitution.

Plus the argument of sharia is god given and can not be challenged or changed is also not acceptable to the Indian constitution.

Punjab CM announces setting up of chair at university level for study of Bible

Amritsar,
December 17, 2021

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi Thursday said Christian community would be given due representation in the state government boards and announced setting up of a chair at university level for the study of the Bible.

Channi made this announcement during a state-level function to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ at Gurdaspur.

Interestingly, the CM had reached the venue for the function at 12 noon. But he had to make some last- minute changes as chairs were mostly vacant. He decided to go for checking of a government school and returned when some more chairs were filled with visitors. Still the gathering was not sizeable when the CM delivered speech.

Speaking on the issues raised by the Christian community, Channi said that the problem of graveyards would be resolved in the districts where the community has a presence. “The land for graveyards would be provided where it is not available but the community has a sizeable presence there,” he said, adding that a community hall would be constructed in each district in order to enable the community to hold functions there.

Well to be fair. Setting up a university chair is much easier than amending NCERT books. Plus there is a lot of academic rules on sourcing the content of the books. You can only put stuff from peer-reviewed scholarly sources. Now we need to see what is in the peer-reviewed scholarly sources that have been written for the past 70 years. All of that needs to change and cannot be done overnight. We need more spending on dharmic scholarly research but that is not going to produce short-term results.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee takes credit for the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage tag for Durga Puja. Here is the truth

G Kishan Reddy (@kishanreddybjp) December 17, 2021

'Durga Puja in Kolkata' has been inscribed by @UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

This recognition is due to 2 years of hard-work of the @MinOfCultureGoI through @sangeetnatak.

I would also like to thank @MEAIndia & India's Permanent Delegation to UNESCO. https://t.co/39fZboYSvi

No, Mamata Banerjee, you didn’t get the award. It is a recognition for India and proud people of Bengal because of the proposal sent by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, an institution under the Modi government.

You, on the contrary, did everything to destroy Durga Puja festival… https://t.co/hGinJg1GSD%20pic.twitter.com/FKlZKGOIbm

interesting. This implies that she (and her pals) think Modi is going to win again. Even After the Farmers and CAA agitations :D. Another possibility: Maybe trying to create a fissure in BJP’s next rung of expectants but even for this possibility, she must think bjp will win.

The former CEA said normal or potential GDP growth rate was four per cent during 2013-14 to 2018-19 rather than seven per cent shown by official data. “When we come back to the recovery, potential or normal growth has to be seen in the context of what happened between 2013-14 and 2019-20. More factual assessment of that period was needed than perhaps what official numbers might suggest.”
He is suggesting India's disastrous decade under this guys co-poxfordian-sonia-proxy Mousemohan Singh and the country's economic stats in 2013-2014 are worse than 2019-2020 because of creative accounting.

Amritsar, Punjab | Today, one 24-25-year-old man barged inside (Golden Temple) where the holy book (Guru Granth Sahib) is kept. He tried desecrating it with a sword; was taken out by Sangat people; died in the altercation. Body sent to Civil Hospital: DCP Rampal Singh
altercation
\ ˌȯl-tər-ˈkā-shən
a loud argument or disagreement:

Either DCP saar don't know the meaning of the word or "Sangat people" used some pretty heavy, physical words during the argument.
